    The stoke has been brought
Legendary podcast. When I’m sitting at home on a Friday night checking the horrifying CO mid winter avy forecast, looking at the frigid forecast temps and gusty forecast winds and losing my stoke what do I do? I think about the epic hour drive to the trailhead listening to Doug and Randy elevate the levels and motivate me and the gang to walk a couple miles to ski 22 degree meadows with a bunch of transitions. Yehaw. Sure beats riding the trainer. Also good for dog walks and grocery store trips. Please never stop making these. Also the donate button on the website was broken for me. Stay safe out there

    This is a great podcast!
Doug and Randy really provide a passion and stoke powered trip into the world of Gear, Culture and News of Backcountry skiing. Also nice to get a window into the world of the Colorado scene being from Oregon. Thanks Boys!

A must listen for dedicated AT skiers
I can’t get enough of this pod. It’s a great mix of gear, adventures, and personalities in the backcountry skiing world. They don’t take things too seriously. Doug, can we get an interview with David Goodman, author of Backcountry Skiing in the Northeast? He’s got a pod as well…

    Loved the Jeremy Jones ep
On the car ride down Big Cottonwood Canyon after my run this morning I literally screamed out loud in frustration at the podcast my Trump supporting friend sent me to listen to. I had to escape. So I chose my favorite escape podcast and lo and behold politics has infected you too! No escape anywhere! In all seriousness, I enjoyed the ep, as always. I love what POW is doing and Jeremy Jones. It’s Jeremy Jones. By the way, Kalouse you should really consider starting your own podcast. I mean, you produce this one right? And that new DynaFit intro is hilarious. Didn’t you say you’re a climber? Maybe you could do something with that. Something to consider...Get out from under Doug and Randy’s thumb...

Going to listen all the way back through
Very good excited for winter and by the time I get all the way through past podcasts I’m hoping it’s snowing somewhere up high at least! Let’s elevate the levels!

I really look forward to new episodes. Lots of variety within the BC ski arena, and very entertaining.

    Good for stoke
I love getting out in the mountains and happen to Telemark. Seems kind of silly to me to care about one’s preferred method for sliding down a a snow slope. These guys constantly remark about how they bash tele skiing but really they rarely do and actually seem to secretly admire it... anyway, a lot of good content for rallying your stoke. The vibe is laid back which personally, I find easier to relate to than a super serious podcast- and fitting, as it’s just skiing... keep elevating the levels CCBC!!

    Texas Newbie
Originally from Texas and a year here in Colorado has led me to discover some new hobbies. After a season of winter hiking, summering some snowy 14ers, and skiing the crap out of the resorts, I’ve been getting the itch to venture away from people.. which led me to search out for some information on backcountry skiing. Books and online articles are cool, but finding this podcast has been the best thing ever. Working in the Denver area as a HVAC Technician I get a ton of drive time every day. That being said, I’ve put in about two podcast episodes a day for the last two weeks. It’s all I listen to during the day. I’m currently on Episode 24. It’s been a wealth of knowledge and I’ve had some legitimately good laughs listening to you guys. I’m heading up 70 to stay in Aspen this weekend and would love to meet you guys if you’re around and also want to check out the shop. Anyway, enjoy the show and keep up the great work!

    Entertaining even for a newbie
I just got into back country skiing this year and even being new I’ve found this podcast incredibly informative but also ridiculously amusing and fun. And I discovered TINCUP whiskey through y’all so it’s a win-win! Keep ‘em coming! With this crazy season I have a goal to ski every month this year... even if it’s a 50’ patch 😂

Great listen on the stair stepper
I’ve really enjoyed listening while out trail running or in the gym on the stair stepper trying to get some cross training in between laps in the skin track. I actually bought my first splitboard setup from you guys a few years back and only recently made the connection, thanks for shipping to Oregon Doug! As an Oregonian who frequents the cascades I appreciated the most recent podcasts on your trip to Oregon and Washington. Cool to hear some stories from some of our local spots, the SW chutes on Adams, MSH, etc! Keep up the great interviews, makes cross training a bit easier to get through while dreaming of colder days.

    love it
great stories and gear intel. love the casual banter and hearing about CO since i am a Sierra guy. keep it up! i also get sore lower back from skiing both uphill and downhill. twisting and tight hamstrings put way too much strain on those muscles. yoga (got a cheap dvd on amazon called “Yoga for Cylists”) and that helps a ton. cheers!

    The Enormocast of Skiing
This is the best skiing podcast out there and it’s hilarious. Keeps the stoke high when I’m away from the mountains and trapped in the urban jungle.

    Super Chill but Informative
I really appreciate the guys approach to the conversation. They help guide the conversation with the mountaineering skiing in a way to help people a bit newer understand. As they live in Colorado they mostly talk about the area down there. However the guests locale varies so you can get some different terrain discussion out of them. However maybe it will motivate you out to that area or Utah. This has definitely motivated me to make investments in training and gear to hit the backcountry.

    Love the pod
I live in Maine and I don’t back country ski but I’d like to, and I love this podcast. I did make it to Bachelor for some big mountain skiing this year though. When I need gear I’ll be calling you guys.
  • Quickiewax
    Love it!
I’ve been listening to this podcast for years and it is really good. If you live in Colorado you need to listen to a few episodes. My favorite episode is with Glenn Plake.

Living in Seattle means long drives to get to the mountains and this podcast gets me fired up to climb beasts like Rainier or Baker. Keep the Pod rollin!

What a ski podcast should be
Perfect blend of humor, stoke, discussions and knowledge. Makes my drives to and from the hill much more enjoyable. Thanks!

    Best ski podcast .
This podcast is awesome! No matter who these guys have on they do a great job. Every episode has some random facts, tips, and history with tons of laughs. This is the only podcast that after listening to a recent episode I decided to go back to the begining and go all the way through. I highly recommend this method of listening to anyone who is just stumbling up on this. I personally find the episodes with and without guests equally enjoyable (if I had to chose maybe without would be slightly better). Super stoked for the upcoming ski season and to hear what these guys are up to on a more regular basis.

    Shred the Podcast Gnar
Not even a backcountry skier yet, but I love hearing about the wild adventures these boys get up to. Keep up the great work and hope I can make it into the shop soon. For anyone new, listen to the episode with Jacques. Nearly pee’d my pants.

The Click and Clack of Mountain Culture
Even if you're not an aficionado of all things related to earning your own powder turns and Type 2 fun in the mountains you'll likely get a kick out of this podcast. While neither Doug or Randy have a signature laugh reminiscent of Tom Magliozzi (may he Rest In Peace), the banter between them is addictive lot entertaining and simultaneously educational. Whether they're interviewing one of their all star guests like Chris Davenport, or educating you on mitigating risks in the backcountry by making good decisions (even if it means calling out themselves or a friend on occasion) you'll stay entertained and get in a fair share of laughs. Hopefully these guys can make a similar length run to the only other audio show I've listened to with a similar amount of stoke.

    Hilarious and informational
I'm usually laughing or learning when I have TD on - often both.

Finally some positive words on Tele!
Love the podcast even through you often slam my old extremely heavy tele gear that I slog up my mountains here in NY and VT. Great episode with Josh Madsen. Keep up the good work.

More significant and interesting interviews, less boring drivel about uphill policies
I really want to like this podcast, really I do, I'm a passionate backcountry skier and love podcasts, and really these guys are the only people doing a BBC ski podcast with any production value. I religiously listen to the enormocast (The host of the enormocast is the producer of this show), and hoped that the format of this show would be similar. However, it's not... Every show divulges into the same regurgitated, long winded, disengaging jokes. First is always about how it doesn't snow that much in Colorado (yeah, it's a continental snowpack, we get it). Then there's some self degrading story about the latest skimo race they went to and got spanked, instead of an interesting story of a racer, or the history of the event or the area it's just the lazy journalistic habit of "we'll make fun of ourselves and everyone will think it's funny". Lastly they talk about uphill policies at resorts, which is akin to having a rock climbing podcast that goes on for 15 minutes about the belay policies of the local gym, I mean no one cares, except people who live in your home town, and even they probably don't care. After all of this they usually get to an interview if someone interesting, which is the whole reason everyone presses play, they want to learn about interesting people in the global community of backcountry skiing. I gave them three stars because once they get to this section they tend to end up with some interesting content. If they skipped the first 20 minutes of every episode, and went straight into an interview with a well prepared interview with their guest, where they uncovered a story without interrupting and trivializing, they would have a great podcast. The right guests are there, the production quality is there, there just needs to be a bigger focus on telling a universal story.

    Great road trip listening!
Granted, I like these guys with or without the podcast. And their ski shop is awesome. But they bring in great guests and put together a very interesting hour of banter. Well worth a listen!
  • DaffyJeffy
    ADDICTED!
Love, love, love this podcast! These guys are super-knowledgeable on all things backcountry and they are wicked funny.

    ski mo racing podcast?
It's a fun podcast. my title is because they have fun arguing what to call rando skimo or ski mountaineering racing The only reason I gave it four stars is because the host are actually more stoiked on "skimo" or "rando" racing than they are back country skiing. I get the cardio addiction, but I suppose I'm more interested in the downhill portion of earning ones turns. So their true passion seems to be about skimo racing rather than backcountry skiing, which is fine. They need to follow their advice and do some lift served vert and maybe that will get their stoke level up about going downhill as well.

Episode w/ Jake Sakson was so great I listened to it twice.
Just finished listening to the Jake Sakson episode. Loved it. As a fellow lover of 22 Designs, 75mm boots and backcountry skiing this podcast got me all the way to work and then back home again. I actually listened it to it twice, it was so good. This podcast keeps getting better and better.

    Best snow sport podcast
The only thing keeping me sane on the east coast this winter. Only wish episodes came more often and more splitboard talk. Perfect mix of knowledge and comedy. Last bit of encouragement to head west. Winter 2016/17 gonna be huuuuge

    disappointing
I learned about this podcast from Ted and Christy Mahons website, and my review is only about their episode. I was very disappointed with the Ted and Christy Mahon interview. They are about as hardcore as it gets in the backcountry and ultrarunning community and the interviewers barely even mentioned their accomplishments, let alone any of their stories. They noted that they wanted the podcast to be more of a shoot the breeze kind of interview, rather than a formal Q&A, but they really botched what I believe could have a been a enlightening and highly entertaining conversation had they prepared even a few meaningful questions instead of rambling about the interviewers ultimate frisbee ACL rupture. They once interrupted Ted with a worthless lengthy tangent about some unfunny Smartwool magazine advertisemen they participated in. After learning Chris Kalous of "I have connections to everyone famous and i'm going to tell you about it " Enormocast fame was behind the scenes, it made more sense why the interviewers felt more interested in talking about themselves rather than giving the Mahons time to talk. Bottomline, its their podcast and they can do what they want, but I won't be listening to more episodes any time soon.

    Need More - Good stuff
Nice mix of witty banter and industry and gear insights but the stories are my favorite part. Especially Frenchie. Personally I will be using “Lissen to me! No I’m not schicken! IZ NOT STABLE!" this season. Great conversations with Lou Dawson and Chris Davenport that I hope happen again! Cheers guys.

    distance mentoring at its finest
This is an excellent pod-cast that compliments the well established Enormocast. Having just moved to the front range from Kansas, the backcountry tips and tricks presented by the well experienced hosts and their guests afford a flat-lander some good advice as to where to turn when looking to get into the backcountry. The psych of the cast also keeps listeners engaged and me laughing. As a climber, I particularly enjoyed the recent episode with Hayden Kennedy and Chris Kalous and hope that they will continue to make periodic appearances on the show. My only suggestion would be to add a ski movie review as at this time of year, many releases are occurring and I feel this would add to the stoke for the upcoming season. Also, don’t forget to define the acronyms that are thrown out! Keep up the great work guys!

This is a much improved show. Really nice mix of deep knowledge and poking fun at an industry that takes itself too seriously at times. Kudos to Doug and Randy for their hard work on this. Hope they keep it going.

    Killer Show
Keep the Beavis and Butthead shtik going! Randy and Doug are fired up about skiing but they don’t take the subject too seriously and know how to have fun with it. This isn’t a boring gear show. These guys know their stuff and pepper the show with industry jokes, SCIENCE, and in-over-thier-head stories. Keep it coming.
