Lani G fanWasted timeAll the nonsense between these 2 make this a waste if time. The info is interesting, the presentation is juvenile

K.salemSometimes you need something sillyThis podcast gives me a much needed escape when i’m working. I love the artists that they cover and I learn so many new things every episode.
-
ShaeMcDSo good! This is what I wanted to hear! I went to a museum years ago with a friend and they knew all the backstory with the artists and also the technical stuff. It adds so much to the whole experience! Thanks for this! You guys are fun as well!
-
Rice HoleOMG THIS IS SO GOOD!Looking through these reviews is honestly annoying. This podcast is so good ya’ll! I love the refreshing topics, how you both play off of each other, and how you both demonstrate a clear and well thought out understanding of literally every topic you touch on. Fun ideas, eccentric funny hosts, you get it all here. Quickly has become one of my fav podcasts!!!

Aduen824The Best Art PodcastLove this podcast! The witty banter between the hosts is my favorite! Art has never been so interesting and easy to understand! Thank you!
-
chamburyPlease stop the sound effectsThere is good content here BUT some of the special effects that are supposed to be funny are simply distracting and/or irritating. The dot matrix printer sounds, the robot sounds, etc, need to go. It makes the hosts seem like giggly teenagers.
-
jonponderStop the witty banter!I wanted to like this podcast. There’s some interesting history here- ruined by extra sound effects and joking which is a cross between a half serious high school book report with the giggles and a local morning radio talk show.
-
futurelapsedfanPlease name my band for $5This is the ONLY art history podcast I listen to. That is a FACT.
-
JCzenviewGreat shows.I’m very happy to have found this podcast. Irreverent, fun exploration of all things art. The hosts provide a humorous and sometimes serious explanation of great artworks. I give it 7 stars!
-
Funk018Informative and FUN!!I love this podcast!!! Russell and Stephanie are so much fun to listen to and so knowledgeable. They really make their listeners feel involved… I feel like I’m part of a community formed around a bunch of artsy inside jokes and niche knowledge. My fav podcast EVER!!
-
klairelockheartFun Art HistoryThe hosts of Art Slice are knowledgeable and silly, which is fun for those of us who who like art history beyond just reciting dates.
-
goddessofidNot for those who dislike excessive banterI really wanted to like this podcast because it was on the fun side, and the female host really seemed knowledgeable. The banter between the two hosts slowed down the pace of the show too much to be enjoyable to me, and I didn’t finish the episode I downloaded because it was just too much for me. Might be more to the liking of others, but it was not my cup of tea.
-
caroos maroosFunny, informative, artsy & caringI started listening to Art Slice a couple months ago & it is such an enjoyable podcast. Stephanie and Russell make fun topics accessible for those like me who aren’t quite familiar with the art history world. Something about whenever they say “and listeners, don’t forget to take care of each other,” gets me every time 😭 it’s sweet to feel loved by the little voices in your earbuds. I’ve recommended it to several friends and clients at work who work for an art museum!
-
peepsteaksDifferent (sigh of relief)All caught up on this show I discovered I discovered back in February. Stephanie and Russell are amazing - it’s a combination of an art critique, an art history story, and comedy. They’re unsnooty artists and it shows - wealth of knowledge and laughs from both of them. Personal favorites have become the color episodes!
-
teilruisThey DigressI hate podcasts with two people because they distract each other from the topic. It’s very annoying. The guy in this podcast never stays on topic.
-
Allison75432Love itListen to them daily! Great informative and fun fun fun stories. Not boring ! Feels like a free art class.
-
MlaguardiaLOVE this podcastSo refreshing, genuine and informative! It’s like Stephanie and Russell are hanging out with me in my living room. I find the color episodes especially interesting, and it definitely informs my painting practice. Thanks for the work you do! - Marisa
-
ChristineMarie412LoveRussell and Stephanie are silly and informative, my favorite art podcast! They cover artists I personally love and ones I hadn’t known about previously. They are also relationship goals.
-
Blkfly802Entertaining and inspiringI really love this podcast. Stephanie and Russell combine storytelling, historical context and real world insight in this refreshingly fun and revelatory podcast. The great thing is you come away with from each episode with another artist in mind and painting or piece of art you just seen And now you want to see more, learn more discover more. Like learning should be it’s an expansive process, inspiring journey and with each piece of art I am introduced to , in a little way , I grow as a human being and artist. Thank you both. :)
-
ALiu333My favorite podcast this yearThis podcast honestly saved my year! I came across the vincent van gogh episode and was immediately in love with how lighthearted and fresh and packed with art history this podcast is. The way the hosts interact is playful but not in the least way agitating. I literally recommended this podcast to all my friends who likes art history. Hope it goes on forever :)
-
Wyn1347A supremely good timeAs someone just breaking into art history and appreciation, I really like being able to just sit in on a conversation like the kind that Steph and Russell have! They engage with really interesting content and make it really accessible for someone with basically no real experience in the field at all. Excited for more!
-
Humayra9Makes art accessible for non-artists without being simplisticI hope this hidden gem doesn't stay hidden! It's a perfect blend of art history, humor and personable hosts, gonna be recommending it with abandon.
-
ceecs.crLove it!I’m a complete novice - only consuming and learning on my own how I can. But wow, this brings breath of fresh air. For someone who only gets information to whatever is easily accessible through Google top results as well as local docents, it has made me love art more by providing accessible, fun, and inclusive information. Thank you! I’ve added almost every books on the website to my to read list and can’t wait to hear more. 🤪
-
ezrielsartLiterally the best everAs an art history undergrad this is not only amazing for refreshing on topics we may be discussing, Great for triggering things I remember, and brings a big smile across my face when in class listening to content from my professors with ArtSlice commentary chiming in my head. Y’all are hilarious, inspiring, and flat out doing an amazing job. Thanks for supporting artists as well! For me (an artist and undergrad) that’s the kicker y’all are just too cool. You guys even had my husband laughing (the most recent creature feature) he loves Japanese art so we listened to the episode together. Keep up the amazing work and thanks for making art (and my commute) even cooler.
-
Afton CaraGreat fun with art!Art Slice makes Art fun, funny, and accessible! It is the complete opposite of my old, sleepy art history classes from 25 years ago that taught rote memorization of the canon of art made by old white guys. So refreshing!
-
thenamesjakeThe Perfect Art History PodcastArt Slice is just the kind of casual art history experience that i’ve been looking for. It isn’t overly academic (which is booooring), rather it’s like business casual experience. And the business is like a convenience store or something so Stephanie and Russel can still banter and make jokes but they still take the art pretty seriously. What i’m trying to say is that I love the vibe of this podcast. As and art/art history lover, Art Slice is the best podcast in this genre that i’ve found. Highly recommend
-
FznkkvfmlfsfbbgxcYou guys….The chemistry between Russel and Stephanie is nothing short of charming. Really wish I could have a wine with them and chat about art. Actually using this pod cast to study for an art praxis exam. I’ll make sure not to say DADDY di chirico when writing my essay. Keep crushing, guys!
-
bnknottsWow, vividly entertaining!Brilliant and often humorous insight into the often familiar works, movements, and artists that I’ve come to know as an art appreciator. Each episode has such great depth of relatable story regarding the subject, a beautiful illustrative quality, and its own little world above the other art pods I’d frequent. What else can I say? Art Slice is an educational morsel that’s so super digestible. Put on your headphones, close your eyes, and imagine the perfect gallery visit through time.
-
zebraaaaa$So many feelsExcellent podcast. It reminds me a little of another favorite show of mine - no dogs in space. I laugh, I cry, I learn. The mixture of humor, story telling, fun segments, and the art descriptions are gold. Oh and the music! I’ve already found some great musicians through this show - I will be forever grateful for hearing about Kris Keogh through Art Slice! There really is not another art history podcast out there like this one - truly anyone could jump on this and learn while being entertained. Please keep making these!
-
Hunter LouisMy Favorite Art Podcast!By far, Art Slice is my favorite way to learn about art history. I appreciate the way that Stephanie and Russell approach the art and artists featured using narrative introductions, formal analysis and fun add-ins like the ArtSlice Pantry. They keep it light and personal, making it perfect for anyone! As someone who makes art as a hobby and as a job, I enjoy that they present well-known artists along with those who are a bit off the beaten path of the traditional art history canon. The variety is great. I quickly went through their current content and am excited for more! But remember, your kid couldn’t have made that.
-
flooooowerfaceWeird fun in the best possible wayNot an artist but this show is so full of energy and fun. Love Stephanie and Russell, great break downs of artworks, hilarious banter, and those weird pantry monsters. It’s become my favorite pod.
-
BWSHouseDaddy? Seriously?Couldn’t make it through the first episode I downloaded because the male host couldn’t give up his joke of calling the artist “Daddy de Chirico.” Gross. Got grosser every time he said it. So nevermind! Off to find a different art history podcast.
-
sacrsacrHidden Gem!I’m a freshman in college and I’m majoring in graphic design. I found this podcast while scrolling on Instagram in early May. Unfortunately I could never find time to listen to it but because of my long studio classes this fall and especially long walks to my dorm I’ve been able to. Listening to you guys has not only been entertaining but beneficial to my understanding of art history and artists. Literally a few days ago my art history professor (who makes me want to slam my head on wall as he drones on and on in the most uninteresting way possible…) asked what fresco art was and I actually knew the answer because of YOU GUYS. Anyway listening to this makes me super interested in art history and want to do research of my own. Please continue making/posting videos! I need something to listen to as I draw thumbnails and contour drawings. Also are you guys still giving away stickers? or am I too behind 🤷🏽♀️

HalesgoodwalkerThis podcast is going placesA perfect match of education and entertainment from a perfect match of incredible people.

Bcs0505So happy to have found this!I was recommended this podcast from The Flophouse FB group when I asked for a podcast with a FH or better yet, Blank Check style energy, insight and chemistry (but for fine art.) So many visual art podcasts are stuffy or sleep inducing, I love that Art Slice keeps me interested and laughing while taking in some great art facts. As a professional artist, I want more podcasts like this! Keep it going!
-
kiyomi_noelVery InsightfulSuch a great art history podcast. They are so knowledgeable and funny, describing each piece wonderfully, and breaking them down from composition quality to the emotions each piece invoke. Lots to learn and laughs to be had through this podcast!
-
AriannaariasGreat art history podcast !I love Stephanie and Russell ! This podcast is so interesting and funny and listening to it feels like I am having a conversation with friends while talking about art history. Love the jokes and Side bar mixed with information about the paintings and art work and the artists. I follow them on Instagram as well where I am able to see the pieces they are speaking about.
-
V7E7R7NDON’T SLEEP!!I usually hate podcasts, okay that’s a bit over the top. I *loathed* the idea of ever listening to any podcast, partially due to how they are often depicted as pompous pricks…. BUT NOT THESE TWO!!!! I love their constant bickering and funny remarks it really makes it feel like you’re just at a bar with two old friends. :) Thanks guys for the awesome commentary and the works you cover. There’s a LOT of art history podcasts but I’m **super** glad I stumbled onto this one ❤️🔥 Keep up the good work!! :))

Sue 777777love this!fun, accessible, enjoyable, informative! Thanks!

76 SalmonNew favorite podcastEach episode fills me with curiosity, laughter, intrigue, and inspiration. From Stephanie’s artist narratives, to Russell’s art pantry entries, to the eclectic range of art and artists. The hilarious banter between the two hosts makes me feel right at home. Personal favorite so far: episode 5. I mean, what more could you want: 3 independent, feminist artists; stories of escape from war-torn Europe including a submarine rescue; socialists, communists, and anarchists; finding refuge in Mexico, and, wait for it … hyenas!!!
-
rainbowgodzillaSo refreshing! My new favorite podcast.I absolutely love the content, the hosts, the humor… I’m a visual learner, so it’s hard for me to learn from audio alone. But Art Slice makes it easy to remember things, through fun and compelling storytelling and beautifully described art pieces. I’ve listened to other art history podcasts and this one is by far the most remarkable! Highly recommended.
-
Isotta PageEntertaining & EducationalThank you guys for making such a great pod love the art historical side, the comedy side and the intersection of personal anecdotes as well! Great format and really high quality writing! Can’t wait to listen to all the past episodes 🤍
-
cosmicflower000Art History meets MST3KSo happy I found this show. The hosts are insightful, hilarious, inspiring and they understand the medium of podcasting. How’s that for an art term? Please keep them coming!!
-
9to5'rYou have a good show- so tone down the banter. This show does a great job of making the basics accessible. The host are intelligent and episodes are well produced, however, the nonstop wisecracking from one of the host is seriously annoying and ultimately turned me away.
-
Bad bish 27Highly Recommend :)Love to listen to went I’m doing homework, really makes the process not as painfully boring lol!
-
yecats meelerstaceyelmeerI love this show. It is so interesting and entertaining. Educational and inspiring!

-
GarbanzomccPerfect ServingThey nailed the recipe for the right amount of knowledge, history and enthusiasm for art. That’s all I got for cooking puns, I don’t cook. Please keep making, I’ve almost binged them all.
-
Emery RouetteIf MAN podcast makes you pukeWould also be great if these two interviewed and discuss contemporary artists, maybe as separate podcast, there has to be an alternative way of talking about contemporary art
-
mgklosePerfect slice of art!I stumbled across this on Instagram and I absolutely LOVE this podcast. The hosts are silly, funny, informative, and even though I’ve never met them IRL, their tone makes me feel like I’m chilling and listening to some friends discuss art over some drinks. They’ve done a lot of research and they make the images easily available through their website and Instagram page. They have a great, diverse selection of art and also cover the context of each piece so listeners can really understand the importance of each piece.
