    Great Story
This definitely keeps the story moving and the characters are well developed. Finding well written drama/horror is rare, so this one’s a nice listen. My only complaint is the low affect line delivery. It gets to be a little distracting at times.

    My My My
I am absolutely enamored with Parkdale Haunt and now Woodbine! I have no words other to say this show is my new favorite thing. Is it too glutinous to ask for more?!?! Well done team 😍

    Writing
Why do the four main people in season one and two say “I mean” all the time? After saying I mean they don’t explain the thing preceding I mean. Then they break up a sentence with ya when not answering a question. Why would you write a story with bad grammar and saying things that don’t say anything. I can’t finish the second season.

    Living under a rock
I’m really not certain how I’ve not listened to Parkdale Haunt until now. I came across Woodbine in my show suggestions, saw all the previous Parkdale eps and immediately dug in. While I feel like I’ve been missing out, I also kind of love that I’m getting to binge it all now. This show totally slaps! The characters are so incredibly well developed, the script is sharp & witty and the story is completely engrossing while being so well written. Late to the party but loving the vibe. Thanks for making female protagonists that I’m actually able to identify with…finally!

    I missed this trio!!
Ok. Fine. They are different characters than Parkdale Haunt but still. Is it weird that I’m already dreading this ending? Smart humor. Monsters. What more could you need??

    Great for some spooks
I loved Parkdale Haunt and Woodbine has been feeding my vampire obsession. I like the characters and the audio design, both in terms of voice acting and music. Keep up the work❤️

Parkdale Haunt but the roles are reversed.
I really liked Parkdale Haunt, but Woodbine seems like they’re just mixing up the recipe and adding a large helping of vampires. At least that’s never been done before, lol.

    Amazing!!
I love this podcast! So fun to listen to, I’m hooked! Great production and the acting is great! The script is well written and feels like stuff actual people would say. Very Average
This is ok. It was at least interesting enough to get through season one and some of season two. However season two just goes round and round I am done with the possessed girl trying to rule the world through influencing, ugh it is a cringy as it sounds. Yup, this is just getting ridiculous, Judith going on the retreat was the absolute end for me. I’m done.

    Love this show!
It’s like a found footage podcast, and lots of fun while also being quite scary! I also love the friendship between Owen and Judith, and how they haven’t turned it into a predictable romance.

    Meh
At first I liked this show, but as I got into the show more I realized the voice acting was subpar in certain chapters, and the story began to drag out and become uninteresting.

I am such a big fan!!
Ever since my dad told me about this podcast I was charmed, by and so excited to listen and once I started listening I just couldn’t stop. So technically I’m addicted to this podcast more like obsessed. But thank you Emily Kellogg, Alex Nursall, Ian Bodie and any others listed in the credits!

    Hooked
Still on the first season but I am impressed with the production and the actors as well. Normally the actors in podcasts like these I have to stop listening to bc the dialogue seems off. For me, this one isn’t like that and I appreciate the effort put in to this show!

Not a super sophisticated plot a first, but…
Not a super sophisticated plot at first, but just when you think it’s going to turn out predictable, it completely shatters any predictions you might have had. Plus, it’s easy to listen to which makes it great for bedtime when you’re only half listening but don’t want to miss out on any important details. I probably wouldn’t recommend listening to this in bed if you get spooked easily or have nightmares, though. This podcast gets unexpectedly weird and spooky with voices you probably wouldn’t want to carry over into your dreams. Aside from that, I also really appreciate the original backstory and the clear, straight-to-the point narration. I swear, some of these podcasters think that the more you try to jam into dialogues/monologues (from the overuse of imagery to unnecessary sound effects and painfully slow narration) to make up for the lack of a screen. This doesn’t do that, though, and I really appreciate it. Although, I will say that the staticky noises over some of the characters’ voices does become annoying after a while; however, you’ll find that the noises are an important part to the story, so it’s bearable to that extent.

Makes me wish Toronto was real
Spooky, fun, and great performances from the leads. Makes good use of the medium. (And I kid, I love Toronto)
  • Burgerat
    Great binge listen
Such a good story. Loved it
  • Heywhatsuphelloooooo
    Overacting.
I had to stop listening early on because the two female protagonists were both overacting in the same way. I felt like I was listening to two Kristen Stewarts but worse. It was becoming unbearable. The reviews about the plot falling off around S2 also influenced this decision.

    Great story!
I found this show at the very beginning and got seriously hooked. I couldn’t wait for a trailer to come out in between the seasons, even! I liked the characters and the sound effects, etc. I want to even go a step farther in defending this show from other reviews I’ve read stating things like the characters did some things real people wouldn’t do, or something to that affect… I just want to say, it’s a fake story and therefore the character’s actions are written to fit the story line so it continues the way it’s written… it’s not meant for Judy or even Owen to come to their senses and say, screw this, I’m not risking my life for you.. that would be a really boring, terrible podcast. I digress- I’ll end with saying that I love the story! Awesome job! Thoroughly enjoyed!

Started out strong but is going nowhere now.
I really liked the first season…season 2 is just not entertaining.

    Starts strong but unravels
I'm at episode 14, which is season 2, and I'm not sure I want to keep going. I'll start with the good points. This podcast has great production and a great concept. A girl inherets a spooky house, and through their exploration, we find out there's some weird stuff inside. Unfortunately, the writing brings the show down. Character actions are implausible. They do actions that conveniently serve the story but they are actions people wouldn't do in real life (such as going along with a spooky ritual that they know will end badly.) And there are other implausible writing elements that serve the story in an unrealistic way, such as correctly guessing two passwords in a row when trying to hack into a computer. Moments that make the listener roll their eyes. Other frustrating character actions are, when the mystery has sufficiently been resolved, the characters keep researching and investigating. As a listener, I kept saying, "I get it! We have enough information, let's move on!" But the characters don't stop, so lots of information is repeated several times. For this reason, the story is drawn out far too long. What could have been a fun little podcast gets stretched over multiple seasons and overstays its welcome. The final bad writing decision was to make this a "found footage" type of story, where we are hearing it unfold through recordings. It weakens the fear factor of the story. The main characters are recording and collecting these audio clips as they investigate, which means we are hearing them after the fact ... which means the main characters are safe and alive. So there is no tension or suspense as we're listening back to their recorded audio. Using recordings also hinders the story telling, because there are so many scenes that wouldn't have been recorded in real life. For example, we hear the main character wake up from a scary dream, but ... why was she recording herself sleeping? And why did the scary dream end up in the audio? And we hear seperate scenes with the antagonist but ... why would the villain be recording themselves? And why would we, the listeners, have access to that recording? So the "found footage" aspect really falls apart after a season. All-in-all, this could have been a fun show, but it's too long, it's poorly written, and despite some lovely production values, I think I'm ready to move on.

    Great show
This is a fantastic audio drama. They do a really good job of making the story flow.

    Great story
I’m really enjoying the writing and acting and sound effects. The friendships and humor between the characters makes them charming and the scares are good. I appreciate the lack of sexual violence and melodramatic romantic conflict. These are 3 good friends just trying to survive a terrible situation and it’s refreshing to have a good story without the tired old Hollywood formulas.

Love it. One of the best.
Came here because I love Ghost in the Burbs - this is even better! Amazing production, amazing story, amazing actors. Especially Alex as Judith. So good!

    Best one yet!!!
I usually don’t write podcast reviews but this one is really good surprisingly, I wasn’t expecting such a great storyline and such long episodes make it even better keep it up!!!

    Love it!!
I’m an avid horror movie and tv show watcher. I was nervous about doing a podcast but it’s been amazing. The storyline is great and it keeps me interested.

Just listened to my first episode…
Great acting, sound effects and story. I’m really enjoying this!! I know it’s only my first episode so take that with a grain of salt but I’m ready to hear more and will update my review as time goes on.

    Eh. Good idea, okay execution.
The premise is interesting but a lot of the acting is cringy and irritating. Claire and her boyfriend are extremely grating. Also, some of the dialogue is over the top and unnecessary, though it is an audio-drama, so I understand why there are so many, recordings, even if they come off as somewhat unnecessary/redundant. Possessed Claire’s voice is so cloyingly fake and glib that I gave up listening in season 2. It was just too much. The realtor is the only pretentious yet believable character. The main characters come across as trying too hard.

    Eye roll
Was soooo good. Then the little woke comments made their way in. Why can’t we ever have entertainment that isn’t either worshiping Trump, or being a crazy liberal? What happened to the normal people??
  • Tmg3971
    So good!!
Just binged this show over the past 2 days…. So good! Love Judith, Claire, Owen all of them. I can’t wait to hear season 2
  • Luvlynesa
    I tried…
I really tried to like it but halfway into episode 7, I just couldn’t anymore. The voice acting isn’t the greatest and the 2 main characters kinda sound the same which makes it hard to keep up with who is who. After 6 1/2 episodes of scary things happening to them and finding out the history of the house you would think they’d stop being so, “it was probably a raccoon or a draft in the house” about everything. If you’re talking about killing people and speaking in other languages, maybe it’s not just stress?
  • F@ithB
    Loving it!
I listen to this podcast while painting and it never disappoints ☺️ I love each of the characters and their banter! This show is just the right amount of scary, fun, and relatable! I highly recommend it! Personally, as long as there are episodes, this is where I’ll be😃
  • Chris Loughran
    Repetitive with poorly written dialogue
Gave up after 6 episodes. Pacing is too slow and repetitive. Way too much boring filler of the characters just bickering. Acting is about on par with a high school play.
  • tarynchessh
    Incredible!
This podcast RULES. I just finished the last episode and I kinda wish I’d found it later down the line so that the third season would already be available. The acting is fantastic, and the sound design is downright chilling. It’s such a complete world. I listen to a lot of horror podcasts, and very few have made me turn the lights on when I’m alone, and this one has a couple of moments where I had to. Love everything about it. Can’t wait for more!
  • Mamaofjz
    Entertaining and spooky
I am really enjoying this podcast. The voice acting is great, the story is entertaining and the effects aren’t overbearing for a hard of hearing person. There is humor to go along with the unique “found footage” type aspect of this show. I’m still on season one but I am truly hooked.
  • AmaMars
Doormats with not good voice acting.
The voices are often clipped. There’s weird unnatural pauses in the middle of sentences. But besides that Claire is insufferable and her friends simply go along with her insanity. I gave up after the ritual and Claire’s second cult retreat.
  • mc39325
    More, please!
Good, scary and fun. I think the voice acting is really well done, and I especially like the character of Claire and how the writers can take phony self-improvement “influencer speak” and make it ominous and evil.

This went down hill this season…
The first season was so awesome and very great but this one dropped fast. It sounds like a bad informercial with all these Claire Patreon influencer videos. We use podcast to get away from all that kinda crap.

    One of my favorite podcast
I came along this podcast from an ad from a different podcast I was listening to, and I have to admit I was hooked right away! Judith’s character is my absolute favorite! The whole story line/plot kept me intrigued the entire time both seasons. I’m excited for future podcast from this team!

A fantastic take on the genre!
10/30/21 - World Audio Drama Day Parkdale Haunt I honestly feel that Parkdale Haunt might be my favorite podcast of the year. I only stumbled across it because the good folks at Unwell, A Midwestern Gothic Mystery shares the first episode on their feed. At first, I was feeling that the last thing I needed was another podcast to have to keep up with. I was amused by its keen self-awareness, and then it began to employ some of the tropes that you would expect in a scripted podcast. Then out of nowhere, it began to get under my skin. One moment you are chuckling at the natural banter, then you get goose-flesh from something that catches you unexpectedly. If you are looking for a fantastic podcast companion for this Halloween give Parkdale Haunt a try! #audiodramaeveryday #audiofictionlove @audiodramaday #scriptedpodcast #podcasts
