Our culture is shaped by technology, and the people building that technology determine how it’s changing our lives. But who are they? And how do they think about their responsibility to the rest of us? From mental health to algorithmic bias, entrepreneur Anil Dash talks to developers, designers, and culture experts to understand the ways tech is changing culture, and what it means for us. Produced by Glitch and the Vox Media Podcast Network.

    So far so good
It's amazing this podcast is free, and I'm glad I found it. In the episode "What It Was Like To Work With Prince", I appreciate that Anil (host) describes his relation to the music from Prince - how he first listened to it, and the difficulties in one of the early methods to get the music - and then has actual people that worked with Prince describe their story - it's almost like a mini documentary. The episode describes how, in the early days of the internet, Prince and his team came up with what could be considered the first music download/ streaming method (probably one of the most interesting history tidbits I've heard recently). I like how the talk isn't monotone, but has funny and interesting moments, and can describe things I never knew I was interested in. Listening to this episode was (almost) like I was in the room and part of the recording of this podcast. Possibly a good glimpse into the quality of this podcast is this segment from this episode: "I think everybody's question for anybody that ever got to collaborate or work with him is like 'what was that moment of you two sitting in Paisley Park or in some ... studio somewhere where you had that conversation and got a glimpse into the creative where ... you're at the table with this legend and you're doing this work together, what's the moment that stands out, that's like a story that you ... tell your family ... 'this is what I got to do'?'" (Hopefully I typed that write...never knew I'd use half speed playback😄). For those interested in quality conversations about interesting topics, based on this episode, this is probably one of the best podcasts. For Prince fans, there might not be a better documentary (especially not this short). Cool stuff.

    Very thoughtful!
Love the Gifs as Blackface episode! All Facts!! Side note: Woo chile is pronounced Woo Child as in the Southern way to pronounce ‘child’. (Not the country Chile)

    Love this pod
As someone who has been swimming in the tech river since the 70s Anil’s podcast is long overdue. The Silicon Valley tech culture has changed the community and very often not for the good. These conversations help me to reinforce my intuition that going for a walk in the redwoods is more important than anything on line. Thank you Anil!

One of the best tech podcasts
Function is a unique tech podcast that looks beyond the tech industry itself. Function delves into stories that are both fascinating and informative, elevating the voices of people who are asking deeper questions about technology and culture.

Super fun and fascinating look at how tech affects us culturally (and vice versa). Very human-focused approach, not too technical or in the weeds about app design. It's just FUN and I LIKE IT

Finally a podcast talking about cultural impact of our tech inventions.
