:)Amy45Give liberty a vacationLiberty has been off her game for months now because she is unwell. while I know she doesn’t want it to, it obviously is making the podcast far less cohesive and entertaining. It has become a negative space filled with her illnesses, despondency, and she is meandering around so many topics that it doesn’t even make a lot of sense sometimes. I really hope she just takes the time off and let others step in to keep the podcast going. I am sure there is a good team that could do that for her so she can focus on getting better and not stressing about trying to prep for a podcast which she has to do while lying down. I hope that she takes that time for herself and the show supports her.

SophieSSHSome good content but has issuesFirst, I do like being able to find out about books coming out in different genres so I have some issues with this pod. First, the host has some vocal fry. It’s hard to listen to her voice. Second, it takes several minutes for the pod to start. The beginning 5-10 min is just how you’re doing type stuff. And lastly the synopsis provided for each book is too on the fly and so it’s hard to follow (meandering at times). If these things were improved I would continue to listen but as is, I had to give up it.

por venezuelaNot real literature criticism. Pure wokenessThis podcast is good to let you know what is out. But apart from that there is very little of worth from listening to the two hosts. They give a list of warnings or triggers about each book that is ridiculous and so childish (‘for this murder mystery the warnings are murder, crime, violence, hate …). Also they preach about about topics and people in a very unprofessional way. Their wholeness gets in the way of any attempt to be a professional objective critic. I would not recommend.

rebeccafwVerbal ticsThe book suggestions are great. It's hard to get past the "um" and "like" tics of some of the co-hosts. :-(

Not another nickname 84Audio Quality Not GreatI really enjoy this podcast! Thanks for all the great recommendations. It would be a 5 star if they improved the audio quality for one of the podcasters. It sounds pretty low quality and stands out in contrast to the other audio.

Dhitch83Used to love..I used to love this podcast, but it no longer interests me since the co-host predominantly promotes gay/queer material that I am not interested in or prefer to read. Sorry!
-
A.rayeI used to love this podcastAre used to love this podcast because it really provided great synopsis for the books as well as fun banter. I loved the personalities! Recently I found myself bored. I am not really a fan of Patricia‘s voice/flow of her synopsis on books. It takes far too long to give her opinion about a book. She reads one maybe two sentences and then causes her period of time when you think it’s over that she starts again, it really makes me lose my thought and it makes me bored. Sorry

KarenayngusKarenaynAbsolutely loved Kelly for the backlist.

MichaelaRundleMostly Middle Grade Books & RamblingThis podcast hasn’t been the same since Rebecca left. Liberty and Rebecca were the perfect pairing because Liberty chose some more niche and quirky reads / reads that were specific to her and not always listeners, and Rebecca tended to choose memoirs, nonfiction, and books that appealed to readers in a less niche way. I know Liberty loves to read, but I feel like the podcast has turned in to her talking about how she loves super long books, fairytales, magical fiction, etc. And the other cast members who rotate in and out recommend soooooo so so many middle grade books. It just feels like I’m wasting my time now and it’s rare that I get any new recs from listening. I used to get probably and genuinely 75% or more of my reads from this podcast years ago, but again since Rebecca left it’s been a very different show. I’m just shy of the point of unfollowing and no longer listening, and that makes me genuinely sad.

jlgaz918Samhain pronunciation (Aug 22nd ep)Samhain is actually pronounced “saa-wn” or “sah-wen.” (It’s Celtic so it’s not pronounced anything like what you’d expect.🙂)

Carrier JereKnows her stuff!Liberty sheds light on a variety of genres. As an author, I love to hear what she likes and why.
-
Jol303Great book suggestionsLiberty always has great book suggestions, I’ve read many of them. I especially like the weeks that Vanessa is on. I do have to fast forward to get past the chitchat.
-
CandiSaryLove this podcast!!I love this podcast!! So many great recommendations and just fun book talk. Listening to Liberty is like hanging out with a friend who knows all the best reads—she is truly the most entertaining book podcast host I’ve heard. ❤️

Alison A PWhy isn’t everyone on earth Liberty Hardy?Liberty is the famous cat-loving literature luminary who has been bringing All the Books! (along with some talented colleagues) into our ears for many years now. I never fail to find some new book to add to my queue after each episode. It is almost unconscionable to fathom how I would never have read things like The Queen of the Night, The Secret History, You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine, Ella Minnow Pea, etc without her recommendation. Come join us and follow her cats on Instagram.

Sue 777777My favorite bookish podcast!Liberty Hardy is a gem! So enthusiastic and wacky. I could listen to her all day. 💖📚I love this podcast!

BrandiInTheBoxQuestionsFirst off. I love this podcast. Next do they still teach kids about Thomas Edison in school? I know they did to me but I graduated like 12 years ago now. So… I was just wondering what they do about that guy now? 🤔Thanks and all the love -Brandi

KittymumblesAll of book riots podcasts have gone downhillRecent 40 minute discussion about changes to the podcast format yet no clear message of what exactly the change is? Or i just missed it amongst the weird zoom that should have just been kept private. Why did they waste everybody's time with that when it is their podcast. Just say we are doing a new format and it is ___.
-
minpinjennNopeI tried but I can’t take Liberty. Had to unfollow. Her energy is too hyper for me
-
ghoulschoolfanGreat podcastI love listening to the podcast!
-
Forsyth4EverLiberty is the best!Tuesdays are my favorite! Liberty is always a bright spot on this podcast. She is always enthusiastic and positive. Her taste is so broad and she always being things that are not necessarily in my wheel house. I always appreciate that she doesn’t bring in politics (as some book riot podcast tend to do). She talks books and that is what I’m here for.
-
LBCheersBooks & Chatter!Every week I look forward to Tuesday to listen to Liberty & company talk about their favorite new releases.
-
letshearitfortheboyGood but some qualmsI like the format of the show and have added various books to my TBR! But they often reveal way too much about the books’ plots. They talk about plot instead of vibe and themes and I really don’t like that.
-
idontreallywritereviewsmuchGreat but annoying banterThis podcast is the best (only) place to get new release information every week. I love it. I wish it was more professionally hosted; the banter/chatter is…so bad. Just talk about the books. That is why we are here.
-
fireinthelabLove Liberty ….Liberty is great and has really grown with this role over the years. Some of the other hosts are hard for me to listen to. Reading word for word from a prepared script is difficult to listen to
-
Rewbacca179Expands my horizons!I love getting to hear about books I probably never would have come across! Liberty and the other hosts do a great job of “selling” the book without giving too much away. I appreciate the trigger warnings and that they are honest in only talking about books they thought were good!
-
chrbaker.mchPlease find new hosts! The format is great, but the hosts make it hard to listen to. It feels like listening to Middle Schoolers trying to make a podcast, and I hate to say this but Liberty’s voice is just not made for podcasting. It doesn’t help that she gets so screechy and starts yelling. Also way more YA and middle grade than anything else.
-
AshBooksReaderBooks Books BooksI have listened to this show off and on for years and I have read SO many books I never would have come across! Some of my favorite books I have ever read were because of this podcast; A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix Harrow, the poetry of Mary Oliver, are just a few that I have loved. As a more sensitive reader who is easily affected by what I read, I also really appreciate the trigger warnings given. Thanks BookRiot team for making my book life even better!
-
Lulu in ChicagoPerfect for book lovers!I love this podcast so much and have been listening for several years now! I read one of my favorite books of the last 10 years, The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin, based on their recommendation! At this point, I feel kinda like Liberty is one of my book loving friends!
-
Jan in a CanChanges my reading lifeThis podcast has changed my life!!! They have heightened my passion for reading and turned me on to so many books I never would have heard of. I look forward to listening each week. I especially love Liberty’s creepy/dark book recs. Recently enjoyed ‘Good Neighbors’.
-
CyeecAll the stars for All the Books!I look forward to this every Tuesday, and I e already picked up countless new books because of this show. Lately I’ve finished and loved Goodbye, Again and also The Witch’s Heart, both of which I heard discussed on this show.
-
NancyS1Great book from your backlist recommendationsLoved The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry from a recent backlist podcast. Thanks for the rec.
-
Kaylah R.Your TBR needs thisThis is my most looked forward to podcast every week! I have read SO MANY amazing books over the last few years because of this show and my TBR has grown exponentially.😆 Some of my most favorites that I’ll be eternally grateful to ATB for introducing me to are The Need by Helen Phillips, Severance by Ling Ma, Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, The Noodle Shop Mysteries by Vivien Chien, and The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa. <3
-
AnjtasticaMy Favorite Podcast for New Book RecsI have been listening to All The Books for over a year now and my TBR (to-be-read) list has never been so rich. I like how the hosts are light on the chit-chat and heavy on the book talk. I have read so many new books, some from genres that I would otherwise not have tried. Keep up the great work!
-
vlh93Most ok but...Way too many YA and Middle Grade. Book Riot has a kid lit podcast
-

alison librarianLove this podcast.Relevant and entertaining.
-
CctheprofessorAn absolute must for readersBeen listening to this podcast for ages and I never miss a week. Always chock full of wonderful books to add to ones tbr list. Even when the book isn’t in ones “wheelhouse” the discussions are still interesting and enjoyable. My only frustration has to be with the incessant use of “trigger warnings”. Everything under the sun is described as a TW and evidence has shown that TW don’t do a thing. Aside from that the hosts are incredible .. the show is the first thing i listen to every Tuesday !! Highly highly recommended
-
Bookworm86!Brilliantly awesomeI am absolutely in love with this podcast. The weekly recommendations has resulted in an impressive accumulation of books I want to read. Liberty is hilarious, intellectual and heartwarming. These women are a powerful example of charming, witty, intelligent women that any girl/woman should aspire to be. Thank you for such a wonderful treat for my brain each week!
-
Reader at heartA must download for readers! This is one of my favorite podcasts! They recommend books for a wide range of interests and I’ve found some of my most favorite reads and authors through them. The hosts are funny and kind.
-
CassterborousSo helpfulYou can tell that this podcast takes a lot of work and planning, and it makes for such good reviews. When a book is new, it can be hard to tell if you will like it from a traditional print review or the publisher description. Hearing the personal reviews on this show gives the context I need to know if I will likely love a book or not.
-
Eugie79Favorite PodcastI love this podcast (even if it makes my TBR cry)!
-
4 dogs mommaSomething for everyoneI enjoy the variety of books they review. I’ve picked up books and read that I would have never considered.
