The Curly Haired ListenerGreat ListenI absolutely enjoy listening to this podcast—and it makes my day every time I do. I always look forward to new episodes!
-
The Alchemist and the MagpieA little slowThe show shares some interesting information but it would be better if it wasn’t read verbatim. Story telling is so much more interesting than story reading. Best of luck!

Kaitlyn0207Home feelI just found this show and of course I’m one of those people that have to start from the beginning and work my way up. But so far I love it so I wanted to leave a beginning review. There little fun facts and this day in history is always an interesting little fact that I get to learn and I like that they are set in central Florida. Living in central Florida is nice to hear them talk about actual places I’ve been, like st Augustine. I’ve been visiting there most of my life and they are just adding places there that I have to visit. And the history mixed with ghost stories is honestly my two favorite things to learn about rolled into one. I’m really enjoying it so far and wanted to say thank you for doing what you do!

CassparagusA Fun Listen!I love Diane and Kelly! The show is fun to listen to, and you can learn about a lot of obscure locations. They mix it up too in terms of adding new content over time. Congrats on 10 years ladies!

AMS SC fanThe absolute best podcast!Love the clean and well researched stories. The best accompanying music as well!

MAR0521Misinformation GaloreI just listened to the Biltmore episode and was disappointed by the misinformation that was shared. There were numerous incorrect “facts” shared including basic things that could have been researched ahead of time such when the house opened to visitors and who owns the house now. It’s still owned by the family but they state it’s owned by the historical society which completely goes against why the house can still be called the largest privately owned home in America to this day. Additionally, no real details were shared so I didn’t get to learn much.

Amc765Old FaithfulThis is my old faithful podcast. Always something interesting to listen to. My faaaavorite episodes are the phantasmal crime episodes. ¡Viva los phantasmal crime episodes!

ghctjftghyrfyhggggggggIt’s a podcast!I like this podcast. My favorite part of the paranormal is the history so I was delighted to find it. With paranormal podcasts you seem to get a lot of the same, but I have been introduced to many new stories I had never heard before! That being said, I wish the hosts were more mindful when Indigenous topics come up. I am a newer listener and have already heard the “ancient Native burial ground” trope being uncritically repeated, and Indigenous languages being referred to as foreign languages.

krist2577Great showLove the mix of history and hauntings!

Krystal17The best mix of history and mystery and some humorI tell everyone about history does bump! This is my favorite go-to podcast for when life is getting overwhelming and I just need to focus or disconnect. The hosts are interesting, funny and share details wonderfully that make you feel like you are there with them or visiting the location they are talking about. I don’t like anything too scary or gory; this podcast is a perfect mix of a little spooky with the history of the story as the backbone. Thanks for making this podcast and for entertaining and educating us all!

Honesty ClarityWitch HouseThe horse situation reminded me of we don’t talk about Bruno 🤣 Neighbor: “He told me he’d paint my horse- the next day DEAD” Villagers: 🎶 ooh noo🎶 🫣😂 enjoyed this one for sure

-
Heather in KCMOLove it!This is a fantastic podcast! It’s a perfect blend of history, spookiness, and humor. I’ve always enjoyed history and been fascinated with the idea of the paranormal. I’ve always been a bit of a reluctant skeptic I suppose. I really want to believe, and have had an experience or two that make me wonder. I love the way you tell the stories and are so open to differing perspectives. Keep up the great work!
-
DeyanirafireFunny and InterestingYou made me laugh today when I needed. I love ghost stories. You do a great job telling the stories.
-
Sara SissyAwesome podcastI non history buff at all but the show help history make sense now to me thanks Sarah
-
KarmaNJHaunted History - What Could Be Better? The hosts are easy to listen to. So many podcasts are plagued with amateur production quality, not this one. I let the episodes play. Sometimes, two or three episodes go by before I realize how long I’ve been listening to the program. Great stories.
-

debbiegwenInteresting stories with historical contextI always learn about new places on this podcast. They do a good job providing historical context and background on haunted spots. It’s a nice little gem in the vast sea of ghost hunter and true crime podcasts.

BeratedlimeCreepy and fun!Every year around this time, I go looking for creepy podcasts to get me in the Halloween spirit. I came across this one the other day and it absolutely does the trick! I love the mix of history and paranormal. Even better? The hosts are passionate about the content they put out - history can tend toward the dry side, but the hosts seem to have perfected the combo of history and entertainment. Another plus is that the podcast is entirely listener-supported, so you don't have to sit through (or forward through ;)) 15 minutes of lame adverts. I'm having a blast going through the archives!
-
Fgabbi10Charming and Chilling! My absolute favorite podcast! Kelly and Diane balance fascinating historical information with chilling lore of all the locations featured on the show. These two fun loving hosts make you feel as though you’re sitting down for a cup of coffee in their kitchen! I love the great music folded into each episode and their hilarious outtakes often make me laugh out loud!! You will learn something new and captivating in every episode! The haunted history you’ll hear will bring you back to that awesome sense of child like wonder with a bit of terror….you might want to keep the lights on! Make no mistake HGB is fun for your whole freaky, family!

jmp0127Love it!I found this podcast several months ago as I was looking for history podcasts. I was hooked the first time I listened! I’m only up to 168 so I have lots more to hear and I’m taking my time so I don’t run out of new episodes any time soon. Keep up the great work ladies. The combination of history and “ spooky” makes this my go-to listening preference.
-
sk1885Love it!!I really enjoy the history and spooky stories!! I also enjoy the jokes and fun conversations between the hosts!! This podcast makes my day more enjoyable I look forward to each new episode!!

&8&&&NahI listened to every show when Denise was still on but after she left the show went down hill.

P. Lane 08Racist, Whitewashed Version of HistoryMy only hope for the hosts is to extend their research into history of marginalized people. I understand it’s not something you realize you’re missing until it’s pointed out. Here is where I recently found issue: At first I took issue with an episode that covered history of dentures. The host covered that some dentures were human teeth, but failed to include where many of those teeth came from: enslaved people. I thought, "okay they must be using research that is whitewashed" and didn't hold it against them. However today I listened to the episode 405: Haunted Guam and was livid at their siding with Spanish colonialists. "Took out 90% of their (indigenous) population and all because this Jesuit missionary baptized the chiefs daughter and he got angry about it. Otherwise Spain was like 'oh we'll put a few people there and leave it alone" Are you kidding me?? It’s far more than “sad”

carkitmomLove this podcast!!!I love Kelly but miss Denise 😔 Why doesn’t she do shows anymore? Will she ever guest host on any of the upcoming shows? Thanks so much for all the stories & history ❤️
-
🪶bethGreat podcast!!!I have been listening since January 2021. Not caught up yet. The history is very interesting and love the ghost stories! I appreciate all the work you both put into the podcast. I listen as I work what a treat! Thank you!!
-
NchaaLove this podcast!!!I don’t think I’ve reviewed the podcast before but I wanted to tell you that you do a great job of meshing history, folklore and ghosty stuff. I’m not a history buff. I like history and I like learning about history (I’m an academic) but I tube out those historical talks when the guide starts naming all the regiments and what kind of guns and cannons they used. I find that boring. Thank goodness you two don’t do that! Diane, you are so good at explaining without over-explaining. Kelly, you are perfect as “the audience.” You ask the questions that we would ask and you are a great listener. Thank you for HGB and for making Thursdays better one podcast at a time.
-
dixie.girlBinge worthy for sure!Absolutely love this podcast! Diane and Kelly are great! The episodes are great! Diane works so hard to find all the interesting history and potential haunting stories attached to that history! 5 stars ✨ - katelyn

Mindy0007Very Intriguing and Great Hospitality!I love how this show explores the history and stories of the spirits that remain in haunted locations. I feel very welcome and connected to this show and LOVE the sense of community that the hosts provide for their listeners! ☺️🤍✨
-
Reesie, the ArchivistStill my favoriteI have been a devoted listener for years and I always come back because it is simply wonderful. These aren’t professional historians or slick scare your pants off stories. Instead you can come in to a conversation with your friendly hosts telling stories firmly rooted in history. The best thing is the team is open to constrictive feedback and constantly improves. I liked it from the beginning. I love the community and joy built into this podcast. It is worlds above any other for the social media Spooktacular Crew. Give it a listen.
