    A terrific writing podcast!
Whenever I listen to the write your screenplay podcast, I feel like I come away with wisdom to be a better human, not just a better writer. Lot of good stuff on the craft of storytelling.

    Obsessed
Long time listener here. I'm not religious but listening to each episode feels like going to screenwriting church. Afterward I always feel inspired, motivated, and enlightened -- even if translating that feeling to writing is a different story lol. I also attended one of Jacob's panels at Austin FF and his style of teaching resonated so much with me, that I immediately signed up for a class that night. 10/10 recommend.

    Literally the best
Single best podcast on screenwriting out there. I learn something every time, and Jacob’s passion is contagious and inspiring.

Incisive, no tangents, positive approach to the craft
I’m always searching iTunes for good screenwriting podcasts, and this is by far the most well thought out, clearest, and most helpful I have found. Once I found this podcast, I quickly binged it very episode and attending his free, Thursday night writing workshop a few times, which I also recommend. It seems like what a great lecture in film school would be like (never went but took some so-so courses online) and because Jacob Krueger does the podcast solo, it’s not about banter and gossip and tangents that often come with a two-person show. This is pure education wrapped in an approachable, compassionate approach to fundamental aspects of both the craft itself, and explain the self-compassionate, constructive ways to approach both the business and art of screenwriting. I also really enjoy the use of current films and TV series as examples of what works and what doesn’t work in context of various aspects of filmmaking and storytelling, without the sometimes cutting take downs that earn clicks for film critics. I’m not trying to sell you classes at his film school, but I just started his “Write your TV series” course online and by the end of the first class, I *really* “got” the fundamentals of storytelling for the first time and was surprised the price was half of typical course.

Brilliant film deconstruction for filmmakers and writers
I listen to this all the time. For writers the WriteYourScreenplay podcasts are especially brilliant because Jake's deconstruction is LEGEND!! I tend to ruminate on a film for a while after seeing it, especially if the theme or messaging is hard to swallow, or if I'm wondering why so many scenes worked, but a film as a whole didn't. As creatives its an invaluable skill to try to understand what is working and what isn't. So if there's a Jake Krueger breakdown podcast about a film I saw, I JUMP FOR IT because he has a such gift for analysis. It is an art form the way he zooms from the wide angle view to the teeny tiny kernel of beauty, or sliver of failings holding a film back. Jake always delivers that Ah-HA! moment for me. I've taken his classes and truly evolved as a filmmaker because of Jake's talent and work. He's a one in a million teacher. What he's done for the writers of NYC (and now with online classes, anywhere else) cannot be praised highly enough.

Wow. The BANSHEES EPISODE IS A MUST!
I’ve only recently stumbled upon this wonderful podcast through the Banshees of Inisherin episode and have now begun to work my way back. This podcast and host are MAGNIFICENT!!! I wish I’d had that guy as my writing teacher in film school! I was so deeply moved by his breakdown of the Banshees script and the eloquence he approached it with and the perspective he so wisely possesses. Just deeply moved by that episode and I am learning so much from the earlier episodes. What a treat. ♥️

    Character Building
I’ve enjoyed listening to your podcast because it’s gave me new appreciation for character building. Talking about how important the character needs are and what their role is and opening me to see where some films failed and some did it perfectly, thank you.

    Makes me wanna write!
Jake’s approach to screenplays is incredibly introspective and fun. More than a podcast, this feels like a writing class. Nothing is as hard as sitting in front of a blank page, and yet when I’m done hearing an episode, I feel like there’s nothing I wanna do more than write. Jake’s podcast honestly makes it all so tangible. Love love love it!

Jacob Krueger is an writing angel to me 😇
I never knew I could be in love with a podcast, but I fell for this one hard. I have been devouring episodes and have had continual a-ha moments. I have had seminars with Jake in the past and it was great to still have access to his helpful insight via this podcast🙌🏽 The WandaVision episode ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m so happy I found his podcasts!!
Jacob’s podcasts have inspired me in so many ways. His love for screenwriting is so beautiful and it’s so inspiring to me. Every time I listen to his podcasts I really feel like I need to go home and write immediately. I owe him a huge thank you for everything he has taught me.

Greatly appreciate the detailed analysis and advice!
Thank you, Jacob for providing a wide array of deconstructive analysis of movies and television series and your advice for pitching scripts. It has made me much more aware of the details that most viewers overlook but are important in creating the impact of a great work of art. It also helps me to understand why there are so many films with so much potential that fall flat and just a few that are incredibly impactful that I want to watch them over each year. I am writing a nonfiction/fiction hybrid television script and look forward to that day when I can work with one of your studio professionals to transform it to something truly special.

    Truly, a teaching tool
Many screenwriting podcasts are little more than discussions on cinematic nostalgia. This podcast on the other hand is much more like an instructional lecture. Great job guys! Keep it up!

    Like taking a writing class...
I’m always amazed at the patience and reflective they use to address what makes / breaks / and takes to write a well crafted screenplay. Thanks for letting me in sitting in on these classes...

    Packed with Inspiration & Insight
This podcast has been a huge source of inspiration for me as I write my first feature. Jacob's meticulous breakdowns are incredibly inciteful and cut to the emotional core of every script. As he breaks down craft, he does it in a way that opens your mind to how many possibilies there are, instead of putting you in a box and telling you the "right" way to do it. Thank you Jacob for creating such valuable content for screenwriters everywhere!

    The play button’s up there.
No, seriously, though. Play it! Helpful and informative. Silly and fun. Awesome. Whenever I get stuck with my writing I come here. Just don’t listen to the one on horror when you’re writing sci fi or you’ll want to write horror. It’s that good.

Review Ladybird: about writing coming of age movies
I love this podcast so much and how you dissect the films so precisely, bringing meaning to parts of movies I never would have thought anything of. I am currently writing a coming of age story similar to the structure and aesthetic of Ladybird and Booksmart. I would love to hear your dissection of Ladybird and use that to help make my script the best it can be. Thanks!

    Best Screenwriter Podcast Ever!
Jacob is extremely knowledgeable and even though he throws shade on Save the Cat 😂 I still love and use (quite often) his screenwriting advice. It has made my screenplays 100x better and I cannot recommend this podcast enough. I think the best part is being able to look through an extensive backlog of episodes, find a film similar to yours and listen to Jacob deconstruct it.

    Always get help from here
Whenever I get stuck I listen to on episode and I can write again! Thanks for Jacob I’ve finished 3 short screenplay in 3 months. A big leap for myself. A lot amazing techniques and concepts I never thought before but absolutely useful. Thank you!

    The BEST Screenwriting Podcast
For three decades I've aspired to write screenplays. However, as a single mother and the owner of an agency that books professional speakers, celebrities and notable presenters (I'm an expert in the industry), along with one challenge after another, life kept getting in the way. Still, I immersed myself in the craft whenever I could (I own practically every book ever written on screenwriting) and had a couple screenplays in the works. Finally, I was able to get serious. In doing so, I recently discovered screenwriting podcasts. Without a doubt, Jacob Krueger's "Write Your Screenplay" podcast is my absolute favorite. Within the last month, I've listened to every single episode. I truly appreciate Jacob's unwavering wisdom, his uncanny ability to dig deep into the psychology of a film, the spiritual way he looks at things, and his infectious voice. He's as much of a screenwriting instructor as he is a sage, a philosopher. Jacob Krueger is not only is helping me to be a better screenwriter, he's helping me to be a better human being.

    A Real Resource
I have been screenwriting for nearly sixteen years now... and what I have come to learn is that the art of screenwriting is not just formulating words and imagery onto paper with an expected execution of plot points to simply tell a story... but more about the ability to study and absorb the human condition(s) that surrounds us all and reflect it back in story to either touch the soul or poke the brain. It is evident that Jacob is of this belief and I love how he nurtures those that listen and inspires those that dare to apply! Mentorship = Shared pool of knowledge = Refined craft Final note: It’s easier to get drafted by the NFL than it is to break into the screenwriting industry. If this statement discourages you then get out now! However, if instead it has the opposite effect and you see it as even more of a challenge then I welcome you to the beautiful madness that is story telling! ;)

Idk if my phone is just being weird but I can only see one episode in “available episodes”. What’s going on?

    Simply The Best
Jacob Krueger's podcast is simply the best narrative analysis availbable. I'm amazed that, through the miraculous powers of the internet, you can get this kind of brilliant insight and practical, methodical advice for free! I'm currently working my way back through the podcasts because there's so much treasure available in every episode. Krueger helps me to analyze films I love and why I love them, but more than that, he makes me reconsider and appreciate films and TV shows that I'd previously dismissed. There's not a single podcast that doesn't make think, "Oh yeah, that's a really good point. I should make a note of that and apply it to my own work." Seriously, I cannot believe knowledge and wisdom this powerful is available for free.

    Great tool for any screenwriter
It's hard to believe these podcasts are free. The information here is amazing. So much can be learned from listening to these and it's FREE. I literally can't wait for the next one. Grateful to have found these. My writing and appreciation for film as expanded tremendously. THANK YOU for these!

    The best.
I listen primarily to film-related podcasts and this is far and away the best one dedicated to the art and craft of screenwriting. Many times I found my options for insight limited to either outdated or just plain nonsensical “rules” of screenwriting gurus or non-specific if not jaded advice from even some of my favorite working writers. This podcast provides honest and nuanced lessons that can be applied to every aspect of the writing process. I can not recommend it highly enough.

One of the best podcasts out there
This is a very insightful podcast on so many different levels! I learn so much from Michael and his guests! It is always such delight to learn from true professionals who stir your mind and get you out of your usual way of looking at things. “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change”-my favorite quote that was introduced to me by Dr.Wayne Dyer. This podcast does exactly this-letting us behind the curtains of the craft and ways to perceive it. Thank you for doing it and for making available to millions! What a creative way to spread more love, compassion and peace! Love it! Zhanna Shpits

    Inspiring
I have been going through a horrible block in my writing for nearly a year. This podcast has not only been a marvelous inspiration to write again, but to be more challenging to myself as an artist. I highly recommend it to any creative person.

    Love Jacob...
He's absolutely divine... I wish I could earn college credits from him because I would graduate w/ an MFA in Screenwriting in no time. Jacob Krueger is clear, concise and creative just like the scenes we aim to write in our screenplays. He brings such an in-your-face method of teaching with viable outlooks on plot and characterization. Then he juxtaposes the art and the business. Any aspiring screenwriter would be a fool not to subscribe to Write Your Screenplay by Jacob Krueger. Noo, I wasn’t paid to say that. I'm just a firm believer his knowledge/podcast will help me sell my screenplay (one day). #AmWriting

    Like no other Teacher.
Jacob’s podcasts are enlightening about writing screenplays and how writing can change the way you see the world. My favorite podcast along with Scriptnotes and Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith.

    Quite Insightful & Motivational
Jacob Krueger is very insightful and truly knows how to break down a film, whether it was good or not, and helps you understand the elements that can either make or break your script. I also have to say that after listening to his podcasts more and more, I have felt the urge to write more, no matter how I feel or how bad my writing might be at the beginning. I know the more I write the closer I'll get to my best material as well as where I need to go.

    Revising your Script
Jake's podcast was very insightful. It helped realizing what's working for my script instead of beating myself up during the revision phase.

    Meditations on Screenwriting
The thing I like best about this podcast is that Jacob talks about a subject in through a movie and is able reiterate the idea rather than repeat the idea so that it sinks in. Some of the ideas are so obvious or so simple that your mind will simply discard them as obvious. Things like 'if this is true, what else is true' or 'what can happen must happen'. Those things seems like obvious statements but very rarely do I read a script that gets to marrow of an idea. There are always ways in which I was expecting something greater out of the story only to be disappointed. Jacob does a great job of ingraining items like that into your long-term memory.
