virginiababeLove this podcast!! But there is an alarm that goes off in the background randomly throughout the ep^^I thought maybe this was just one episode but it’s been in a bunch!!

Anonymoussssa38593474😭😭questionOMG I love this podcast so much. I’m a gymnast myself and I enjoy every single episode that comes out of this. Very much the best gymnastic podcast in the galaxy. One concern tho, am I stupid or why is there a beeping sort of alarm clock noise in parts of the episodes 😭 I listen to this when I go to sleep and it always jumpscares me and sounds like my alarm clock. Is it just a sound effect? I’m confused 😭

KBW99Journalism and feedbackI’ve been a listener and supporter for many years. Throughout the years Jessica asks for constructive feedback but when provided, she has an attitude and dismisses it without thought. We all have to live with her inconsistencies of her story telling and “facts” she tries to provide but if brought up in a respectful and private manner, she reacts instead of reflecting on the points made. If Spencer doesn’t correct things in the moment, it lives on and i honestly can’t believe how many pieces of incorrect or ½ pieces of information live on for people to hear/believe. And when she does try to address things that may have not been “reported” on fully, it’s the listeners fault for not understanding journalism. I’ve appreciated many parts of this gymnastics media as there are few competitors in this space but hopefully more will come along.

WaterluveraebNew listenerJust started listening after watching gymnastics at the 2024 Olympics and really enjoy this podcast. I’m confused by reviews that are really hard on Jessica because I find her to be delightful. I enjoy how much affection she has for the athletes. I don’t think she comes off racist at all. I think this podcast is really informative for people who are new to the sport. Spencer and Jessica have good chemistry.

kurtcobaincrushDissecting gymnastics with some social commentaryI’m not a gymnast but my wife is so I end up listening to this all the time. It’s my favorite gymnastics pod cast. Jessica is BIG personality and Spencer is sorta Big but also sweet. They are both intelligent and engaging. Together they are delightful. They are exceptionally knowledgeable about gymnastics. They go into detail and questions on things I might find myself wondering about as a watcher of gymnastics with my wife. They fill in the gaps of my knowledge. I love this. Jessica is also a NorCal native and I’m a SoCal native though now live in NorCal therefore very Californian. Jessica speaks the way Bay Area people of her age with an interest in social topics speak. I don’t mind it. In some ways I think it’s very brave because it could be a turn off for many listeners and could lose them listeners. There have been a lot of comments about her being a racist against Asians and anti semite. This is strange to me. I’m pretty confident in my ability to gauge this as my wife is Jewish and I’ve lived in Japan for 7 years and feel very aligned with Asia in my heart. If I had heard anything that sounded racist, it would be a reason to not listen to this. I feel there are lots of low reviews of this podcast but these are not reflective of it being a bad podcast, but more a review reflecting on the person giving the review.

jrpowTime for us to move onTime after time, one of the hosts Jessica says something incredibly disrespectful to the athletes, coaches, and fans of the sport yet people overall give her passes since her podcast is popular. Her behavior hasn’t changed and this past episode proved it. Time for gymnastics fans to move on!

lilstarrgazrJessica is the literal worstJessica is a racist. Jessica is an anti semite. Jessica treats these grown women like they have no agency. Jessica is a hypocrite. Jessica is preformative. Jessica is a liar. Please stop giving this woman a platform. There are plenty of places to get gymnastics news from, delivered by professional, decent humans. Spencer, for Gods sake, get a new job and better friends. You deserve so much better than this.

DonyaLuanaStick to gymnastics…I’m a lifelong gymnastics fan and love hearing the inside scoops on the athletes, but it’s super irritating that every single episode Jessica has to push her political agenda. I can’t imagine how many people are not becoming members of their site simply because of her constant mention of left leaning politics. Start a political podcast if that’s what you want to talk about, I’m sure you’d have an audience, but I sure would appreciate if she stuck to gymnastics on this one. After reading other reviews I’m clearly not alone in this viewpoint…

Love Silivas!I would love it except for…The political commentary, social issues commentary, putting down or disrespecting religions is not enjoyable. It is stressful. I want to enjoy sports without this aspect that dominates our culture too much already. The gym coverage itself and advocacy for safety and appropriate treatment for athletes is super. I wish the focus would be on the sports instead. It would be a much stronger podcast with more focus. I’m even more frustrated after today. Enough of the abortion and political talk! I want a break from the culture wars through enjoying sports, not more lecturing from Jessica. Spencer is excellent and much more on the topic at hand-gymnastics.
-
JodiMillerJessica is awfulShe cackles and I turn it off. She is fake and loves to hint at insider information like we all know what she is talking about. Not a welcoming podcast for any new listener. No way is there content worth paying them so they can go to meets and not tell us all the info. They hide things and act like we all were there.

Dani9685Resigned listenerI’ve been listening to Gymcastic since 2015ish. I was never a gymnast but consider myself to be a gymnastics fan. I was even a paid Gymcastic subscriber. Now, I would consider myself to be a resigned Gymcastic listener. I give Gymcastic credit for helping to elevate gymnastics as a mainstream sport and move away from a quadrennial phenomenon. To be honest, the only reason why I still listen to the podcast is because of Spencer. His thoughtful analysis and snark keep me informed and entertained. If Spencer decided to start his own podcast or partner with a different cohost, I would gladly subscribe to that podcast. Despite the growing number of gym-related podcasts out now, most of them are pretty niche (focus on college, regions, etc) and/or lack the ability to synthesize such minutiae into accessible sound bites that Spencer does so well. I’m not a fan of Jessica as cohost. And it’s not really about her left-leaning politics. I identify as a female person of color with progressive political leanings. That being said, over the years I feel that Jessica has mastered the art of performative allyship. She says the “right things” and gets mad at the “right issues” but if you listen to the podcast long enough, her slip of the tongue happens often enough that her biases come through loud and clear. Of course, Spencer notices and plays the PR/crisis manager in the moment - which, yes, leads to laughs- but I’m at the point where I’m just over that whole routine. I cancelled my paid membership after the whole Miss Val debacle years ago. I cringe every time Jessica rants against someone infantilizing or sexualizing the gymnasts, and then turns around the next episode and continually harps on just how hot Laurent is. And I mean, I get it - who doesn’t have a crush on him? - but no need to claim his hotness every single time you talk about him. The covert racism towards Asian gymnasts is infuriating. She isn’t afraid to be harsh on gymnasts and gym professionals she doesn’t seem to have a close relationship with, yet seems to take a lighter hand on the criticisms for people she’s close with. And I don’t understand the whole “we’re not criticizing the gymnasts, we’re criticizing the judging” stance. When you point out flaws in a gymnast’s routine, you’re criticizing the gymnast (not the judges) which is fair game, but at least own what you’re doing. TL; DR - I’m over Jessica’s hypocrisy and performative allyship, Spencer’s great, need an alternative gym news podcast to listen to.
-
Beth3022Stick to Gymnastics please!I want to love this podcast, but the amount of time Jessica spends lecturing on leftist politics is very annoying.
-
wrestling fan 69Hilarious and REALThank you so much. Yours is the longest I’ve ever listened to a podcast! Over ten years feels crazy! I love your humor together, but also having the courage it takes to take on the tougher topics that you handle with grace.
-
Wendoid1138Why do much hate?I was trying this podcast because it was attached to that other one, (the regionals review one) but all I heard was hate. Instead of focusing on positive things, all they did was hate. It just made me not want to listen. Made it like 15 minutes. Not for me.

ColeBritneyPerfect 10Thanks for keeping us posted on EVERYTHING gymnastics

Diane629Great gym content but...I have been listening to this podcast for a long time now. There is good coverage of gym events, explanations of scores, etc. Spencer does really great analytical commentary and I appreciate how it seems he tries to keep to the gym topics. Then there is a lot of Jeasica’s personal commentary on social issues, poltiics, etc - often it is a bit of a reach on how her rant is relevant to the topic at hand. She makes statements in such a way that can be very off-putting to listeners. It seems over time that Jessica is increasing this aspect of the show instead of decreasing it, despite many other similar reviews here. Listeners may be more open to her perspectives if she made changes to the tone and volume of how she delivers her opinions. It is extremely confusing to me how Jessica so often pushes for sensitivity and kindness yet regularly, she makes comments and jokes that are really insensitive about various topics (ex: ivf). It seems insensitivity and jokes can be okay for certain topics that she chooses but then other topics, she is sure to provide a detailed lecture on why something is inappropriate or insensitive. This really would be a 5/5 podcast if the clear focus were on the gym content. They have good coverage fo events, inside info, good analysis and perspectives on scoring, etc. Unfortunately, the amount of “my way or the highway” commentary on political and social issues and the frequency of insensitive jokes seems a bit unnecessary and really distracts from the amazing gym content they do have here.

Famously!❤️❤️❤️I absolutely love everything about this podcast! You guys make me laugh out loud, and make me sound like a genius when I talk to my gymnastics friends 🤸🏿♀️❤️

Kbo4374The Nadia Movie gymnastics 🤸♀️ 🤗😂I am a new listener and was SOOO excited to see the episode title today!! I was obsessed with the Nadia movie in 1984. I lived in the Houston area and was absolutely convinced that I could be the next “discovery” for Bela, who had a gym there. My sister and I repeatedly watched the movie, cut the feet off our socks to create leg warmers, and practiced in our back yard every day for hours. Fast forward to me as a 48 yo woman and I cannot stop laughing at this amazing review of the movie that made me dream of Olympic greatness. 😂. The only thing missed was Bela and Marta’s American accents in this film, also a complete farce from reality. Bravo!! Loved this episode and look forward to more as your newest fan!

JoanP2325Pro-life advertisementJessica cries about roe v wade being overturned, but can’t regulate her own show to not begin with a pro life ad from Grand Rapids right to life pro life group - you can choose advertising topics no?
-
stardustalixRacism and other issuesI stopped listening after the “joke” title of this year’s winter cup - they called it the “Russian bunker edition” which was completely insensitive in light of the recent invasion of Ukraine. Spencer issued an “apology” and supposedly corrected it but it’s still title the same here. Others have raised issues including racism with them that have gone ignored. One example is in talking about Shang Chunsong’s small frame being due to malnourishment, Jessica said it was because she only ate rice and then laughed it off as being an Asian joke that didn’t land well (in episode 40, I believe). So basically it was okay because it was a racist joke? While this is an older episode, Jessica in particular has demonstrated this kind of behavior repeatedly to this day.
-
mpop2627Humor and relevantThe gold standard for gymnastics news podcasts.
-
amandabanana5Excellent!I love Jessica and Spencer’s dynamic! They have a great banter and all the latest gym news. Love it! I look forward to this podcast as well as behind the scenes every week.
-
DaisyWeaseJessica’s politics…I have a love/hate relationship with this podcast. I became a Club GymNerd member right before the Tokyo Olympics and stayed for NCAA. I absolutely love Spencer. He’s hilarious and I think he and Jessica play off each other nicely. But I’m running out of patience with Jessica’s constant pushing of her political opinions and “woke” agenda. I respect the knowledge and passion she has for the sport of gymnastics, but find her constant need to bring politics into literally everything off-putting and annoying. Also, it seems like Jessica has a lot of disdain for white people, which I find confusing since I’m pretty sure she’s white.
-
Ponine123It’s fineLove the fact that this exists, wish there was more competition
-
Savannah99872LOLLiterally the best podcast ever! I look forward to every week’s podcast more than anything. Jessica and Spencer are absolutely hilarious, informative and will always give you the inside scoop that every gym nerd needs. One thing that does get on my nerves is the preaching Jessica often does about Covid. They’re based out of California… and I’ll leave it at that.
-
CaitlinC_Entertaining and informativeThis podcast makes me laugh so hard. As a former gymnast, I turn to GymCastic for the NCAA and elite recaps, the judging controversy conversations, and general entertainment.

Former PantherAll I Never Knew I was MissingI competed for 18/22 years. Finished my college career and then didn’t really know how to keep up with gymnastics outside of Olympic years. Finding this podcast has brought be so much joy, knowledge, laughter and made me feel apart of the international community of Gym Nerds I never knew existed. I’m coaching a HS team now and all my girls know what Jessica and Spencer and Kensley would think about any skill routine or scenario. A+ work. Couldn’t ask for more.
-
OnceinaMarieWhy is this all I want to listen to?!!I have never been a gymnast. I don’t even fully know why I’m here now. But I love it. In one weekend, I listened to maybe 8 episodes? If in a week’s time, I’m still obsessed, I’ll become a new paid subscriber. Listening to this podcast is truly such a wonderful experience, regardless of one’s (lack of) pre-existing gymnastics knowledge. These episodes are just pure joy in my day. End of story. Thank you!

Pilot1416Biased contentNo thanks. Content is really biased.
-
saltlakecityThis is a UCLA gymnastics podcast. If you go into this podcast knowing it’s all about UCLA you’ll love it. I used to listen religiously when this podcast first started, a lot better podcasts are out now though. I listened for the first time in over a year, and it was a UCLA love fest after UCLA’s amazing 194. Very bias podcast.

15muhlmL O V E !Love your take on all things gymnastics. I find myself laughing with you, Jessica. I love when you curse I feel your passion girl! Haha keep up the good work ya’ll!
-
anubee0208Worlds coverageThank goodness for Spencer for making sense and bringing actual content and analysis to the coverage not just today, but for the entire event. At past 4am on the west coast too! 🥇
-
Jennifer1868Mixed bagThis podcast is kind of odd because it seems like the various hosts are doing different podcasts. I really enjoy the analysis and recap from Spencer and Kensley — without question, the most knowledgeable gymnastics coverage available. Those two seem to be going for professional, detailed, informative coverage of sport. Jessica seems like she’s doing a different podcast- more of a casual gossip session with friends. Other may disagree; I personally do not care about the anecdotes/gossip/giggles and often get frustrated when her tangents or inaccuracies derail the conversation. I’m sure she contributes a great deal to the podcast behind the scenes as a producer/creator, but I would personally prefer if the analysis took center stage and the other stuff was saved for the behind the scenes.
-
AimottSo excited to have found this show!I was so disappointed in NBC’s coverage of Olympic gymnastics, but this podcast saved the day. I really appreciated the analysis from Spencer and Jessica. I’m looking forward to diving into previous episodes and having a way to keep up with gymnastics on an ongoing basis and not just once every four years.
-
DancinnangelInformative and HystericalI love getting the nerd-level gymnastics info, but also I fully laugh out loud at least once an episode. Definitely a weekly must-listen for me!
-
horgarWow!They basically have the ability and knowledge to teach a master class on gymnastics. Unfortunately, every week the show themselves to be the most racist podcast I have ever listened to. Everyone is judged and categorized according to skin color.
-
andres505Funny and knowledgableThey really do know what they’re talking about when it comes to gymnastics. And they’re hysterical.
-
Mamie MurphyLove it.Please, please please do a 80s MAG episode.

Tumbleboy31Gymnast/Coach for 20+ years. Must listen podcastI found out about this podcast on the Golden Series. Jessica was on it and I was extremely impressed with her. I had never heard of her and wanted to hear more. I listened during the Olympics and was so frustrated with all the network coverage of gymnastics that I decided to join Club Gymnerd. I couldn’t believe the level of insight Jessica brought from the floor and Kinsley (kinsleigh? Kynslee?) and Spencer’s frustration and questions are the same exact ones I have been asking for forever. I have now gone back through season 2021 and am almost caught up. I really appreciate the gymnastics insight and am super happy I found this podcast! I literally just realized today (after a month of listening) that the show notes are all in the description of an episode and I can see all the gifs and everything else hyperlinked 🙄. My life would have been soooo much easier had I realized that. Appreciate all your hard work and thanks to Kinsleigh…just gonna go with that one I think… for your insanely in depth knowledge and love for the dying entity of Mens Gymnastics. I fed like you’re bailing a ship in a storm with a soup spoon, but every little bit helps!
-
TamgirlgbMaxi Gnauck 1981 worldsLove this podcast!! Just found this. Former 70-80s Class I gymnast. I loved Maxi! Referring to your discussion regarding 1981 worlds. I thought I heard Maxi was going to win the AA and then was told to throw her floor routine so the Soviets could win. Have you ever heard this? But using a type of medication to help could be another answer.
-
thatanthropodcastReally? So much talk about not infantilizing these incredible gymnasts and then you say they are all “girls” and Vanessa Ferrari is a woman. How objectively rude and dismissive. Yes Ferrari is incredible too but they are all women, so get some better language
-
apidulceMassively disgusted with Olympics coverageThe relentless hawking of their paid subscription had gotten annoying pre-Olympics, but the paywallimg of the most important competition of the past five years has made me angry. Especially since the pre-game podcasts did not make it clear. Combined with Jessica’s constant wokescold lectures, this podcast has gone downhill faster than the US men in team competition.
-
kristin.driscollAll Speculation and Too PoliticalI thought this was a gymnastics podcast- but your preaching of your personal values in place of gymnastics news is over the top. the cast is also on a witch hunt to bring EVERYONE to bring everyone down, other then the 3 of them and their ‘perfect’ views.
-
pennyteachA Must-Listen-To for Gymnastics FansWhere have you been all my life? :) Such an incredible podcast with outstanding, knowledgeable, and entertaining! hosts. All of your pressing questions will be answered… and more! Can’t wait to hear their Olympic commentary. A dream come true!
