Some good information but a lot of engineering issues
Guys often your mics are so static and distorted. It’s almost uncomfortable listening to your show. You guys gotta get a better engineer or better equipment because your podcasts are not sounding very good. particular your last episode it was just so distorted and trebly and it’s not my equipment.

    Always good Beatle banter
While some of these blokes can occassionally sound like crotchety old men (I’m looking at you, Darren), they usually bring an experienced perspective to their discussions. The highlight of this podcast has been their scoop of getting Peter Jackson to appear and talk at length on some of the most insightful Beatle stuff in recent memory. I especially appreciate Kozin’s studied analysis and Ken’s news and optimism. Thanks for keeping it light, honest, and interesting, guys.

    Gun ads? Seriously?
I’m not sure if y’all are able to control your advertising or if it’s all up to Apple podcasting, but the last thing I want to hear on a podcast associated with John Lennon is an ad marketed for gun lovers. I don’t care about your personal politics(y’all have done a good job not bringing any up on any episodes I’ve heard) but this was completely tasteless. Especially in December (the ad mentions Christmas) Disgusting

    Knowledgeable hosts but no chemistry
I respect the hosts for their greatly varying degrees of knowledge of all things Beatle, but the podcast itself is dull and often a bit irritating — the result, I think, of the loose structure that causes the hosts to constantly fall silent while waiting for someone else to talk or pose a question. The hosts seem truly bored with every topic that’s discussed, and they don’t really engage with each other or provide fresh insights into the music that’s being discussed. The feeling is that they’d all rather be doing something else.

    Frustrating show
The audio quality is terrible: tinny, very low fidelity. This is particularly baffling considering DeVivo is a professional broadcaster. Often the guests are let to ramble, and I think the interviewers need to keep them on point. Sometimes they get things flat-out wrong: for instance, the recent author of Act Naturally said Magical Mystery Tour's run time is 45 minutes. I didn't have to look it up to know that's wrong (it's 55 minutes). Considering the stature of the three hosts, these problems are really unacceptable, but avoidable. Please fix the audio!

    Out of touch
I really think you are out of touch with how most Beatles fans feel about Yoko. Surely there are other better, less frequent, topics. Maybe some younger fans who haven't heard the Nagra tapes and only watched Peter Jackson's white washed Get Back have a different impression of Yoko quietly knitting during the Let it Be sessions. But she was the single most destructive catalyst in breaking up the Beatles. As far as her being an "Important" artist, which has become a quite trendy theme among Beatle talking heads, ever seen her films from the 60's? Less interesting than watching paint dry.

    Fab-astute dudes taking rabbit-hole journeys…
Decided to check this out after seeing it suggested for so long as per my Beatles p’cast-devouring habit. They know their Fab-stuff (esp. Kozinn) but take needless minutes starting/going off-topic during eps. Took a whole 20+ mins. to approach main topic in #373 (John & Paul similarities) after rambling on with takes on a Revolver reissue that they hadn’t heard in full or come out at the time. A good deal of figurative gun-adhering from one of ‘em to takes & opinions that display a distaste to see their moptops in any other light except their own when hearing POV’s of others. I could go on with other points of discontent w/this cast but long & short is these podcast falls short when it comes to Beatle-gabbing IMO.

    Episode titles
The titles of the more recent episodes don’t match up with the content. Where’s the one on Revolver?

Old Men Yelling at Beatle Shaped Clouds
I’ve tried a few episodes but couldn’t get past the incessant whining(on episode #365) about Paul’s set list and his voice. It’s already been talked about it(especially his voice) at a nauseating level on social media but was hoping for more talk of stuff like the album “Tug of War” which is what I tuned in for not for old men yelling at clouds. We are blessed to to still have Paul touring at his age and he’s a Beatle, he can play what he wants and doesn’t have to check with everyone who’s already seen him 20 times. Lighten up cause its annoying.

    One of Life’s Great Pleasures
I’ve listened to Things We Said Today for years and often go back to listen to past podcasts. Allan, Ken and Darren’s discussions are always informative and interesting. Listening to the show is like hanging out with friends – not any old friends but those who share my same passionate interest in the Beatles. I really, really appreciate the trios’ time and effort to putting on this podcast (and webcast). I’ve been a Beatles fan since age 7 (1969) and this show is one of my favorite things in life.

Um...Guess maybe you don’t know it all
Listening to your show on: “The Lyrics”, it strikes me that you guys are having great difficulty accepting new information. While I can accept that Paul makes mistakes memory wise as we all do, I’m interested in learning new things like the story on “ Eleanor Rigby”. I don’t question at all why he never shared the info before. Perhaps he felt it was too personal to share or maybe he didn’t think it was our business. Who knows? What I find most amusing is that you and most “experts” can’t accept that John Lennon might not be exactly what you’ve always been so positive he was. I love John and I don’t see how Paul being a reader, an intellectual, the guy most involved in the hip 60s scene in some ways, causes any kind of problem or is hard to believe. It irks me that Paul’s so worked up over the order of Lennon and McCartney, but I get why. John’s murder caused him to become canonized and Paul has been significantly minimized if not outright denigrated. I’m sure it’s been painful for him in several ways and tough to deal with for 40 years and counting. I’ve heard and seen Paul called a liar way too many times which can’t be fun for him, and a good example before “The Lyrics” would be the song “Blackbird”. I find it extremely offensive that some people claim he’s lying about the meaning of the song. Of all the Beatles, it’s clear that John was the liar. He admitted as much, consistently going back on what he said and explaining his emotions not only caused him to say incorrect things, they also led him to be deliberately and excessively mean. I find this antagonist approach to Paul McCartney’s own story not only tiresome but downright infuriating. I get it —You guys are the experts. You know Paul and the Beatles better than Paul, a Beatle, knows them. You’ve read everything ever written over all these long years, you’ve made your living off your complete knowledge of all things Beatles, so whatever Paul says now that contradicts what you’re so positive is the truth, is at worst the pathetic ramblings of an insecure old man who frequently lies, or at best a faulty memory. I’m sixty years old, a nearly literal lifelong Beatles/McCartney fan and my attitude when I read something new from Paul is : “Wow, I didn’t know that. That’s so cool.” Oh well, I guess Paul’s story is best told by the experts. I mean, the guy’s got no credibility and what could he possibly know anyway?

You can draw the line when Paul McCartney died and the new Paul took his place
You can draw the line where Paul McCartney died in late 1966! Then new Paul started writing and he was a better musician than real Paul!believe it! That why John and fake paul didn’t get along!

    immature n ignorant beatle fans
sorry but when the interviewer asks why john changed his opinion on the rolling stones (and other matters) and doesn't understand that people change their minds even john...is childish.

    Great show, but...
Y’all really need better studio microphones!

Great, thoughtful Podcast with one glaring exception
Love the discussion, the insight and truly enthusiastic debate. Highly recommend. But I’m listening to the Plastic Ono Band “review”. Avoid. Completely misses the point to the point of absurdity. Awful, puerile dismantling of a startling, personal statement that has stood the test of time. It’s not Lennon’s “comedy record”. It’s almost worth listening to for the continuing string of misinterpretations and second guessing. Should have been more produced?? Would have benefitted from Paul’s harmony? So so far off... Many many worthwhile episodes.

    Love the podcast...
...and listen to every episode. 2 improvements I would suggest: 1) Skip the lengthy intros. We all know who the guys are now. I’ve gotten to the point that once I hit play on a new episode, first thing I immediately skip forward 2-3 minutes. 2) The noises in the background seem to be getting worse. This has been a problem for quite a while, but during the most resent episode regarding Beatles compilations, it sounded literally like one of them was wrapping Christmas gifts! This rustling of paper or whatever it was went on and on and was quite often louder than whomever was speaking at the time. It got so distracting that I couldn’t finish listening to the episode. I wonder, do you guys ever listen back to the episode before posting it? I can’t imagine that you wouldn’t notice this. I can appreciate the concept of multitasking but you really have to just cool it with that while you’re recording an episode.

    Interesting, but not perfect
The hosts are knowledgeable and they choose interesting topics to discuss. This is the reason I listen to episodes. But the hosts will often get into @&$*-measuring contests where they try to put do each other on Beatles-cred, knowledge of obscurity etc. Alan in particular loves to demonstrate how he is intellectually superior to things, and demonstrates absolute disdain for things he considered to be below him. For example, when discussing a video game score he could not resist repeatedly emphasizing that he had no interest in video games and looks down on those that do. We get it! It’s very hard to listen to at times, but I can’t stop listening... Update: I listened to more episodes and I realized that even though Alan comes off as very snooty at times, he has great thoughtful analysis.

    Meh.
Mostly good information and perspective from qualified Beatle writers and deejays. Surprising that the sound quality is so bad. Lot's of distortion, excess sounds like slurping drinks and bumps are annoying as is the talking over one another. Also the talk is a bit too polite. There are better Beatles podcasts out there. This one's fine if you like that kind of thing.

    Sound Quality Poor
I could love this postcast however the sound quality is inconsistent> I wonder sometimes if the guys are aware they have an audience.

    This podcast is "Rubbish" Soul
Listened to the Eight Days A Week review podcast. All the host did was complain and nitpick the entire film. Listen I've Got A Beatles Podcast for an entertaining Beatles podcast.

    These Guys Rock!
I've know of these guys WAY back to the 90's. (even the Prodigy days, lol) There is no one that has more wisdom and insight than these guys. Really glad I found this podcast!

    Beatles Talk
Show content is solid with interesting insight. Production is not great with lots of microphone thumping and level issues. Also, Ken Michaels sounds annoyed quite often.

    Pleasant, Not Great.
I enjoy Ken's writing but he's kind of bland on air.

    Latest news on Beatle stuff
This is a great podcast to get discussion from two recognized Beatle experts on new going-on in the Beatle world. Not reviews of old albums or lists of favorite songs. Steve runs a website that provides daily news on the Beatles today and brings those updates here for discussion, often including other Beatle experts and authors to help the discussion. Highly recommended if you're still one of us following The Beatles.

Pleasant Update on All Things Beatles
Good interviews and reasoned discussions about the latest news in Beatle-dom (and Beatle related-dom). Ken and Steve are knowledgable, upbeat and exceedingly polite about the Fabs. A drawback could be that Steve appears over the phone and at times the sound is reminiscent of an FBI wire tap. An ISDN line would easily fix that but I'm not sure that's in the show's budget. Other than that, it's a entertaining and informative listen -- a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
