    No Andy- Brilliant
This used to be my favorite show until Andy’s banal comedy destroyed a show of great standing . It’s good to know the show could be salvaged by removing the host

    Was good until Bohart
Bohart is just sad & irritating. Can’t wait until she’s off the show.

    Always a delight
If you’re into British news, or comedy, or podcasts, or comedy podcasts about British news, or quizzes, then this is the British news quiz comedy podcast for you.

    Good
Funny Dispite me being thousands of miles away from this stuff

Best thing about a Friday night
I look forward to this every week, especially the news quiz episodes. But the decision to delay shows on platforms other than BBC Sounds means I cannot get it downloaded automatically on time with my other podcasts.

Great show but the Israeli apologists are terrible

Simon Lewis should be permanent Chairman
Guests are still hit or miss but getting better. The millennial female comedians are tediously unfunny and irritating. Andy Zaltzman is not funny. Not even humerous. His opening is banal as are his continuity comments and his closing is even worse. The News Quiz used to be the flagship now it’s just a canal barge.

    Friday night comedy
Love it! Gimme more!😉 I'm in the US and I love Fri Nite Comedy, right on target every time!

Love Andy! Can be relentlessly Leftist
Andy has the best sense of humor, combines satire with silly. And he doesn’t amplify the bigotry of his colleagues. (Expressing hatred for conservatives is not funny by itself and the very common mean-spirited attitude of liberal celebrities gets old.). So satire of the Left is missing but satire of everything else is often wickedly funny and conveys British current events in proper context.

Totally not interested in listening to a topical show a month late. You are not funny enough to pay for.

    I miss the news quiz
Thought there was a glitch with my phone and it wasn’t downloading properly. This is such a nonsensical decision for a topical quiz. Listened for decades, but won’t be doing so a month later and don’t want an additional app.

    Love this show
This is a treat every week. The host and panelists are fantastic. The exceptions are the comedians from the U.S. We Americans just aren’t as funny as the Brits. They are in a league of their own.

    It's No Longer Topical
What kind of mess has the BBC created. A topical program is not one you can't listen to until a month later! DUH Is Apple shunning BBC Sounds? I can get it on Spotify...like when the programs are still topical!

    NOT acutually "NEWS"
Used to look forward to this cast, now they want to coerce us into downloading another app, or it will play a month later. Not what is called news. This is a history podcast.

Love the shows, hate the wait
Like others I'm not downloading another app - I listen to my all podcasts in one chronological-by-release-date playlist. It's bad enough to have to wait 4 weeks to get this "topical" comedy, now it's six weeks??? I understand not creating new comedy during a time of mourning, but why can't we get August 12 - and now 19?? And I assume we will continue to be 6 weeks behind for the next month at least?

    Zaltzman rocks the News Quiz
Andy Zaltzman is smartly hilarious on the News Quiz. You end up laughing twice —once for his joke, then again for the high wire difficulty of his use of language in it’s execution. Came here from his awesome Bugle podcast.

A News Quiz that’s four weeks behind the news!
It used to be worthwhile listening to this podcast, but not when it isn’t topical. Unfollow.

    Not downloading another app
Great show, but I refuse to download another app in order to listen in a timely manner. Like so many others here I don’t want topical comedy once it has gone stale. And I am not interested in my podcast listening experience being fractured across a range of difference apps. The upshot is: I no longer listen. Well done BBC. You’ve manage to drive away loyal fans through ridiculous, anti-listener, anti-licence-fee-payer policies.

    Bye
I don’t want my current topical content one month late. Bye.

    Bad Move
Yet another app on my phone? I love the News Quiz, but I now usually forget to listen. By the time I think to look on BBC Sounds the show is no longer topical.

    The Opposite of Topical
I get the BBC trying to push their own app but let’s be honest, the vast majority use the big two to get their podcasts. By all means put exclusive content on your own platform but the idea of putting satirical current affairs/news shows on a month later is a serious misstep. Bad idea. Time to revert while still relevant.

    Delay no one asked for
You've taken your topical news podcast and delayed broadcast by 4 weeks, making it a stale memory of what this channel used to be.

    Boo BBC Sounds
Friday Night Comedy has long been a highlight of my week. This forced switch to BBC Sounds has taken it away. I cannot download episodes of this show, only stream, which defeats the purpose of a podcast. Please bring it back to other platforms! Yours truly, a disappointed American

    I Miss The News Quiz!
Dear BBC; while I dearly love the News Quiz and Dead Ringers, I do not want your app, and will sincerely miss listening on Fridays… not sure why this change, but you’ve lost a listener with it.

    Month old topical comedy
Dumb decision by the BBC to delay topical comedy here by a month in an attempt to force us into their own app. Ah well. After a decade of Jupp, Toksvig and Zaltzmann I’m off to listen to something else.
  • Bruce757
    Now delayed by a month
BBC has decided to make this exclusive to BBC Sounds, so if you listen to apple (or any other) podcast app, you’re getting comedy about events a month ago.

news quiz and dead ringers the best
really good, seriously always minimum 1 true legitimate lol moment
  • sigffh
Agenda driven comedy but still funny
Like most BBC pod casts, if you can find your way past the vested political liberal slant tending one way more than the other, you’ll enjoy it. Worth listening to as long as you’re aware of the subtle bias in the humour.

    Sort Of Funny
What’s with the canned laughter on everything? So annoying!!
  • Go Vegan Save Bunnies
    Anti-female
Used to listen often but latest show is blatantly misogynistic. I’m done.
  • fuzzystarcloud
    lovely
I enjoy this show a lot. Please bring Ria Lina back. She’s awesome.
  • Tallowyck
    Lose the canned laughter.
    Now.
  • Gobks
    lose the laugh track
overbearing, completely ruins a decent program.
  • Where has originality gone
    Turn DOWN/off the laugh track
Will make 5 when laugh track removed. The laugh track makes it impossible to hear the hilarity. So much better on “wait wait” where they laugh at each other’s jokes Love bbc Friday night comedy but only if it can be heard ! ( btw it started only a bit ago - was much better WITHOUT the laugh track)
  • Wildeofthewoods
    Amazing Comedic Talent
The laugh track/commotion is a bit distracting but Andy is the best so 5 stars all around.

    Americans NOT funny?
Are you serious or horrifically delirious??!?!?!?!? Need to cut back on the Pubs and Hot Toddies, it’s really screwing you up!!!!!
  • humour detective
American accent and lack of humour
Sorry but Americans are not funny.
  • tkyboy
    Hopeless woke rubbish
Nothing but non jokes for their own agenda typifies all that is wrong with the BBC. Oh and dropping in “to be fair” etc.. doesn’t mean it is

It's better than "Wait wait don't tell me." Plus, it's constantly evolving, and will not settle into a rut.
  • HopeyChangey
Sadly it appears woke just isn’t very funny
Loved Radio 4 comedy since I was a kid listening to the news quiz in the 90s. But recent incarnations of the podcast are clearly just showcasing diversity and inclusion (very laudable) but it turns out that it’s just not particularly funny and a little bit preachy. Sorry, I wish it worked, but it doesn’t.
  • Krunj
Seriously unfunny since the crisis began
This was a wonderfully witty show before the pandemic, but now it's forced and wretched. Such a shame - I'm out.
  • Marco Polo Mint
Four stars for the News Quiz. One star for everything else.
I grew up listening to the News Quiz with Barry Took and Giles Coren in the 1980s and 1990s. It was essential listening. From being a precocious teenager onwards into middle age, it has been a part of my life. The need for a satirical approach to the news, for a more critical interpretation of politician-speak and spin-doctor drivel. Sandi Toksvig was fantastic. Then there were the rotating guest hosts, some better than others of course. Look, I know I’m a privileged middle aged white bloke but... the recent incarnation of the News Quiz is just not that great. There just isn’t the charisma of the guests nor insight into the issues there used to be. But the News Quiz is comparatively light years ahead of the other programmes in the slot. The Now Show is just painfully unfunny and any other comedy shows they add between their runs just shows up how poor BBC Radio comedy is these days. Radio comedy used to be a lifeline during dark days and troubled times. Now it’s mostly an embarrassment of attention seeking shallow wannabe celebs and stand up comedians. Proper satire: we need you now more than ever! Where the heck are you?

    I love it
    I love comedy
  • Brit Artgirl
Not nearly as funny as it used to be
With Sandy Toksvig in charge and Jeremy Hardy as one of the guests this used to be comedy gold. Miles Jupp who took over from Sandy always always stiff in his delivery but mildly funny. Angela Barnes just isn't funny at all. The programme isn't helped by the absence of funny guests. Sadly Jeremy Hardy has gone but bring back Andy Hamilton, Sue Perkins, Mark Steel, Susan Calman and Fred MacAulay. Thank goodness I kept some of the older episodes.
  • WelshinAmerica
Hire talent not just from the same comedian pool
Another guest presenter who isn’t funny. Or even decent at allowing others to be.
