Coleman Hughes is probably one of the best podcasters I’ve ever listened to. As a disaffected liberal/progressive, he has done an incredibly good job of helping me navigate the culture war issues in American society today, particularly race and gender. I feel like in many ways, I have found a political and/or cultural home among the likes of him, John McWhorter, Jon Haidt, etc. While I don’t agree on absolutely all of his views, nor do I fully understand his political outlook (indeed, I think many on the political Left can’t place him either and unfortunately some have even denounced him as an outright conservative), his heart and mind are definitely in the right place. His stance on racial colorblindness (once, and hopefully once again, a progressive stance) profoundly resonates with me, as well as his views that socioeconomic class, not just race, should be the proxy for disadvantage in our society. I hope Coleman, whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and hearing speak in person, can connect to the progressive left with the notion of socioeconomic justice, and that can supplant the left’s fixation on more distractive notions of identity. Keep up the great work, Mr. Hughes!

Like his buddy McMaster, another middlebrow podcast “intellectual” and feckless Trump apologist/shill pretending to be a truth teller and critical thinker, while sanewashing MAGA’s paranoid, reality-denying kakistocracy. Got to appear hip to America’s current wave of rightwing authoritarian grievance politics—kowtowing to the rising techno-oligarchy he hopes can pump his book and his brand. Hey, maybe get his own show on Fox News!

Coleman given recent events after your interview with McMasters and how Trump is taking a the opposite approach and appear doesn’t recognize Putins ambitions, as noted by McMasters, in the region, it would be great if you could revisit the developing issue. To get a contrarian viewpoint on this and Gaza it would be wonderful to have Journalist Aaron Mate on.

I love this podcast. Coleman is a deep thinker and in the past has been a strong interviewer. Lately, however, he has published very few interviews, and his newer sessions have felt rushed. He seems unprepared in the H.R. McMaster session, and the editing in the episode is bizarre, with the interlude music happening while H.R. McMaster is talking. What’s up Coleman? We’re here to help.

Coleman has been such a reliable and sanity-inducing source of intellectual insight and wisdom for me around difficult topics, especially regarding race and identity politics. I’m so grateful for his courage and wherewithal to have these conversations that impact us all.

Wow…just read Rodney Balko’s articles destroying Coleman as a dishonest propagandist. I urge any listener to read them and then read Glenn Loury’s mea culpa and apology for taking Coleman at his word regarding the George Floyd murder. The simple fact is that conservatives - and here I am including the whole of Bari Weiss’ Free Press - LIE TO YOU. Whatever confounding stupidity the far-left is currently attempting, it is nothing compared to the cynical, purposeful and perpetual untruths the right-wing ecosystem spreads. THEY THINK YOU’RE STUPID. FULL STOP. What’s worse is “liberal” outlets like the New York Times run glowing articles about people like Coleman, giving them and their insidious misinformation cover and credibility. You have two options in a society like this one: 1) Learn how to think (yes it’s still possible) or 2) Have people like Coleman poison your mind. I include Coleman in same category as Bret Stephens - 95% of what comes out of their mouths is just dumb. Having Thomas Sowell as your idol is akin to worshipping Lyndon LaRouche.

It is clear to me after listening that this ‘no compromise’ attitude of the guest (and the whole ‘movement’ it seems) is what needs to change in order for there to be change. The definition of insanity example the guest gave applies both ways. Unless he truly believes that the ‘resistance’ is working, then perhaps it’s time to compromise - at least as a first step towards the desired end goal. And if he believes that the ‘resistance’ is working, then something is clearly wrong. A ceasefire is not a compromise given that there was one in place before this conflict started.

the description of history is too innocent of the actual history and misses serious fractures in each society. The fundamental problem is that each society has a considerable portion who are of the we take it all (Hamas - Settlers to be too simplistic), and likely larger portions of each agreeable to a settlement. Why then has the conflict not been settled? Because the ‘take it all’ side, is willing to kill their own to ensure not settlements. When Arafat turned down the offer from Barack, he did so because he didn’t want to be killed by those in his own tribe. Just as when Rabin was enacting the Oslo settlement, he was assassinated by one of the we want all of Judea and Samaria (i.e., the West Bank) to prevent the then ongoing installing of a viable two state solution. Unless the two tribes ensure that a viable agreement can defeat in some fashion their own absolutists there will be no enduring peace….

Love this podcast but I must disagree with the latest episode that had Abagail Sherer as a guest. Good therapists are out there, and one way to tell is their incentive to keep you as a client or give you tools so you won’t be their client forever.

Coleman is stellar and dedicated to the truth. Just listen to his interviews. His earnestness is something that is in short supply these days. Looking to listen and understand while disagreeing. Haters probably just have to sit heals dug in.

To loosely quote Hughes: ‘ Listening to two people disagree in good faith is far more interesting than listening to two people agree in good faith.’ You don’t have to agree with Hughes’ viewpoints, but critical thinking requires getting out of the echo chamber.

Coleman is brilliant. I highly recommend reading his latest book, The End of Race Politics, as well as this podcast.
