I’m a big true crime fan, and this is one of the first podcast series I have to stop listening to. It is terribly edited (why must we hear up to four different people describe the exact same, horrible details? Why so much poor audio when you then have three other people say the same thing)? The first two episodes are so voyeuristic, bringing so little to the table besides blood and gore, I am horrified and bored at the same time. The poor relatives of the victim!

I don’t think I we very well done. Some of the audio is WAY too hard to understand. And information gets brought up before it’s explained. One example is the relative talking about Taylor’s baby - what? No child or pregnancy has been mentioned at all.

Same retelling of story every episode. Same clips. Same facts. Same info.

Very repetitive. Not a huge fan of the amount of people saying how good of a person she was and still is? It’s like they forgot she dismembered a human being.

There was too much focus on the perpetrator. They act like she wasn’t a monster and her family kept giving excuses over and over and the podcast kept emphasizing that. The final episode made me absolutely disgusted because of how many people stated this did not make her a bad person.

Very repetitive, sometimes I though I was listening to the same episode. Very little info about the actual victim of the crime. I some cases the perp was made to be a victim and family members and others continuously made very poor excuses for her actions.

There is virtually no insight given here into the killer or the victim as people. The gruesome details are hammered home, but basic personal information is glossed over. I listened to all these episodes and still have no idea when or why this person changed their name. at one point, she sends a photo to someone because she wants them to see her baby, and yet I didn’t hear anything about her ever having a baby. I appreciate the play-by-play courtroom reporting but that’s pretty much the only value this podcast has.

The crime is horrific, I knew what I was getting into. However, they repeat the details, in the exact wording, in every single episode. There is very little context, information about the victim, it feels like this could have been told in a way that is more respectful to the victim and his loved ones. It seems like they are after shock value but they when they are repeating themselves so much it got super old and super uncomfortable after three episodes.

I stopped listening about 10 minutes into the second episode because I cannot understand a word of the police interviews.

Not sure why people are upset regarding all of the gruesome details when the title literally states that it is. I thought this show was very well done!! Glad I didn’t put too much weight on the rating and decided to listen anyway. It’s hard to find podcasts brave enough to not gloss over brutal details.

I liked this podcast as I hadn’t heard of this story previously. I just don’t know if there was any point to it. The story is told entirely in the first episode to the point that no second episode is needed. They repeat the same details in several episodes. We get very little of the killer’s insight and nothing from the victim’s family. It seems like a podcast based entirely on news articles which anyone can do. It just doesn’t give you a lot of important insight. She killed him for no explicable reason and chopped him up. That’s it. If you are looking for the type of psychological insight you get from a Dahmer or other serial killer story you won’t find it here. Interesting to a point but not great.

What dateline gets right in this podcast gets wrong is that dateline makes you care about the people involved. I know almost nothing about the victim, the family, or even the killer. For example, they said that she changed her name either to or from Coronado to Schabusiness. Uh why? When? (Can ANYONE acknowledge what a bizarre name SCHABUSINESS is?) Also, she had a baby?? When? With who? There was way too much flat expert testimony about the crime and almost nothing about the PEOPLE involved. But I do know an unnecessary amount of gory detail that’s repeated (unnecessarily) over and over.

The same parts of the gruesome story are told over and over again. Maybe for some sort of shock value. Also very little discussion about the victim. Kind of disappointing.

I really appciate podcasts that cover lesser known cases. I think everyone’s story deserves for be told. But I could not finish this. The details were gruesome and I physically could not listen. I understand some details are necessary, but they went a little too far.

Very gruesome but thanks for including the soundtracks of the various persons involved (police, detectives, coroner, psychologists) as well as the extended family members of the victim and defendant. Sadly the judge was correct when saying the family is ultimately responsible — not “the system”; children don’t come with instruction manuals. There are unexpected life events (death/sickness of a parent, loss of a home, etc). Many times an outsider can see what’s happening to another person and does not know what to do or who to turn to for guidance. We are all humans and make mistakes. There is forgiveness and grace given to us, which we don’t deserve any more than anyone else. I hope Taylor can redeem herself in prison—it will be hard; I pray that there are people who can walk along side her in this difficult path forward.

This story is vile and shocking, but that aside, the title of the podcast and the episodes are all in poor taste. Some sensitivity to the victim and his family would have gone a long way here. That poor mother already endured the worst thing in the world, hopefully she doesn’t decide to listen to this. Sickening

On top of the level of gruesomeness in this crime, it’s hard to listen to her aunt insist she is not evil. I’m sorry but I don’t care how much trauma a person goes through these are not the actions of a heart that isn’t evil. And besides, her trauma other than optional drug use was not that high on the scale of trauma. Oh, let’s blame THC for suc$ing a guy while beheading him. Just stop.

This podcast is the worst of true crime podcasts. Sensationalist material. The only thing that I liked is the invention of a new tongue twister: say crock pot box 3 times fast.

I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts that share details about gruesome crimes while respecting the victim and victim’s family. This is not one of those podcasts. Episode 1 was okay, though it definitely included gruesome details. But I couldn’t even get past episode 2. So much was repeated, including graphic descriptions of Shad’s body and the process of his death. It was too much, completely unnecessary and flat out disrespectful to Shad. I should have known by the title that this podcast would not be providing any type of ethical true crime commentary.

I'm not a very sensitive person but the title is awful for the nature of this crime, shame on those who approved it. Was it created by someone from Dateline? Aside from the repetitive recordings, this was told well. It was straight forward and not opinionated. In regards to the court proceedings, this woman does not have mental illness. Someone in the story said it best, she has mental trauma. It was very sad what she had to go through as a child. She needed something more than prescribed drugs and being told she is the problem. Then comes the time to grow up and decide what kind of person you want to be and she chose to be a drug addict, which didn't help her at all. Part of that problem were the so-called Psychiatrists that make you believe you have a mental illness so they can shove drugs down your throat. It's a disgusting industry that's all about profits and not the well being of humans. If anyone reads this and has a child or anyone else being told they have mental problems, seek other help first. I truly believe they are creating way more problems in children that are being put on these programs and drugs. They are not treating them at all!

Literally just graphic details of a guy who was dismembered. Wondery is utter trash

It was good except the facts were repeated over and over again especially with finding the head at bottom of stairs.

You can listen to this podcast for free on other channels! Won’t pay a dime to listen to something that others put out for free!

I’m giving one star for sound quality & editing. Another star for being detailed oriented. If you are into listening to a trail, the trail coverage is all there. Here’s the thing, you hear the entire crime story in the first episode. This isn’t a crime podcasts that leads up to anything, with character development. It’s simply the trail. Many court cases are very repetitive as some of the same questions have to be asked over & again to different witnesses. But here, it’s VERY REPETITIVE & unnecessarily more than it needs to be, they kept replaying some the exact same audio clips. Islets annoying. I study forensic psychology, I still only think this deserves one star.

Be warned, the details of this case are shockingly grotesque and the podcast is very clear about that. But it feels like they just took the recordings and edited them together. It’s interview recordings and courtroom recordings and not a lot else.

This story is gruesome. This podcast tells the details of a man murdered by a pal who was severely mentally ill and should be locked up for the rest of her life. This documentary was well detailed and certainly not for the weakened stomach listeners. My stars are based on the organization of the information reported and how well it was explained. Some people on here are giving 1 star because of the gruesomeness of the story. Your stars should be based off of the work the documenter did to tell you about the mentally ill people that we walk around with everyday. This story was very descriptive in a way it left you not wanting to ask anymore questions! Great job. People want to know. Why. Well here ya go.

Repetitive. Could have been one long episode.

The episodes were way too repetitive. I usually binge podcasts on my way to and from work, and even hearing the episodes a week apart as it debuted it made me want to fast forward. This whole thing could have been two good episodes, three tops. Also, the amount of airtime given to Taylor’s cousin defending her was disgusting as well as annoying. I quit listening to the 5th episode and jumped to #6 because absolutely nothing new was being reported, just more gore and more of the same “poor Taylor, she’s really a loving caring person”. If I could stand to listen to it again (I can’t) I could make a drinking game out of the number of times people say, “head in a bucket”. Very disappointing.

I’ve noticed if you see Wondery attached to a podcast it’s a solid bet it will be awful. This was no exception.

I listen to true crime podcasts all day, every day (probably not good for my mental health, but...). The crime details don't usually make me cringe to the point of turning off the podcast, but THIS ONE is seriously gruesome, disturbing, and flat out disgusting. Maybe because it was sexual in nature; I'm not sure. I couldn't finish episode 2 because the details were seriously TOO MUCH. I'm sure not everyone feels this way, but for me, I just can't.

Makes me think of tv dramas in the early 2000’s when you had to watch several minutes of recap every episode, except this show does it throughout each episode. Bad call in an era where many people binge-listen. I kept thinking I had accidentally clicked on the prior episode, every time!

I swear wherever the host Paula Barros pops up, it’s sure to be quality. Sacred Scandal (which she produced and traveled to Ukraine to investigate for), Cold Case Files, and now her work with the legendary Law & Crime folks. She’s becoming a true crime fixture. A singular voice. One to trust. Someone who treats these cases with the respect they deserve. Can’t wait to hear more.

Imagine how horrifying it would be to be Shads family member & see this title. He was a human being, & we need to respect him as such. Truly disgusted to see the lack of tact from such a huge platform.

This shocking story is told masterfully through this podcast. I could not stop listening! From the exclusive interviews to eerie and intense descriptions of the crime … this is a must listen!

This is such a horrible title, showing nothing but disrespect for the victim and his family. Do better.

This story is nuts. I love how much detail law and crime gives us. The host is solid and easy to listen to!
