Con trollCasual awesomenessBig fan of your programming and platform. We’ve been following it for about a year and a half and needed the change. Hammering workouts day in and day out at a local box was great for a season, but balancing life and family at the same time was tough. When you mentioned 2 strength days a week, etc. I was like man that actually sounds great! Side note - I was rolling with the geologist dad joke. Keep up the good work, really enjoy listening to you all casually talk life and fitness.

yardroc2 things. All right boys. First off, I’m gonna need some more episodes over here cause Stern is off for the summer. Secondly, loved the teens and training episode. My 14 year old Jonny rad is starting to get into some fitness and we listened together and he learned a lot more than I can teach him. And thirdly, I think we need a whole pod of just pet peeves. That section is gold.

Death 2 Dad BodGaining PerspectiveChris and Doug, Ep. 20 on programming was so timely and helpful in providing perspective. It coincided with some of the internal dialogue I’ve had about my training over the past few years, so please accept my sincerest thanks. I stumbled upon CrossFit in 2012 and turned 50 last year, and between family, work, and life there have been plenty of days where I didn’t bring “high intensity” to the workout, but still tried to perform it “with intensity,” which may have just been moving as best as I could for that day. Perhaps that’s a fair re-definition for those of us at a different stage in our “CrossFit lives?” I suspect some like to “burn it down” every day in workouts because it’s hard and our society is generally soft, so there’s a physical and mental sense of accomplishment that people don’t get elsewhere. I remember having that sense in the early days, but as Doug so ably stated, now there are days that I just don’t have the bandwidth for that, and that’s OK. I couldn’t agree more. Also, extra points to Doug for the subtle reference to Bill Murray’s character in Ground Hog Day, “Me. Also, me.” A question I’ve been meaning to ask for a while. If your kids, say middle school aged, were interested into getting more into fitness, what movements would you focus on? What might a workout look like? Let’s also say they’re pretty active kids otherwise, have played some sports, etc. Thanks again for the great content as always. Oh, a vanity plate I saw a couple of years ago read: NVR4SKN. My first reaction that Monday morning was, “What does this guy have against foreskins?” - Joe

tioz88Love it.Love this podcast. Our gym follows the Park City Fit programming so I am a huge proponent of what you guys are preaching in regards to training. It’s nice to be able to hear you dive deeper into the “why” of the program on occasion as well. Even more than this however, It’s just flat out entertaining hearing a couple of fitness focused buddies, not taking yourselves too seriously and still discussing some valuable topics and dispensing with some great information. It reminds me of my friends and I shooting the $&@7. Unfortunately, it now gives me angst to see vanity plates out in the wild. Thanks for that. Keep it up guys. You now have 11 dedicated listeners.

Powder JunkieMost functionally applicable “CrossFit” podcast yetFinally a CrossFit podcast not for those who watch the CrossFit events like people watch the Real Housewives series. Chris, and sometimes Doug do a great job preaching and adding some background on CrossFit’s health, strength, fitness and overall life application. It’s the perfect balance between banter and information download. Plus they inspired my retirement idea for a plow driver in Summit county Utah. Keep the tracks coming gents!!

13BWI’m glad to see you are backI was randomly searching and discovered you guys are back. I caught up on six months of episode. I like the content. I can tell your viewpoints have evolved since Icon. Doug got mad because I call him a CrossFit homer. He definitely has a different perspective. I feel it is really balanced (especially with age). Both of your perspectives align with how I see things now. (Strength is the foundation) I hope this doesn’t sound backhanded. If I had one complaint, increase the frequency. I look forward to the episodes. Keep up the good work.

woodsbjWelcome back!I once again get to enjoy Chris & Doug’s banter in the gym, AND on my way to work. If you guys see me in the gym and I’m smirking, it’s probably because seeing you reminds me of laughing out loud in my car from some ridiculous pet peeve or hilarious take on personalized license plates. Glad you’re back with the perfect blend of smart fitness content and clever sarcasm. Life gets too serious and you guys help us put it in perspective. Thanks for making it fun!

AppleReviewer!Updates NeededLove this show! Gives me my weekly health and fitness fix while reminding me there’s more to life. Keep em coming! Two updates needed: 1. Nespresso. Still using it? Worth it? One of those things you buy, use a ton for a few months, then just takes up space? 2. Does Chris still train with BFR cuffs? If so, any tips or programs/routines to try for somebody that just got a pair of cuffs (me)?

mnetzlerHot takesLove all the questions episode. Chris, can you talk about the Rogue Invitational? How it was programmed, Legends trash talk aka behind the scenes?

Sambrero57Brainy Banter: Laughing until I cry while learning a thing or twoAs someone who judges a podcast based on how badly I want to be friends with the hosts, this podcast is a 10. There isn’t an episode that Chris and Doug record that doesn’t make me laugh until I cry. I also love learning and thinking about things in a different way. Doug and Chris are super athletes who aren’t so pretentious to believe that every listener survives on protein pancakes and creatine alone, yet if you do, they’re here for it. To the vanity license plates, I saw one today that says MivieJo. And I’m thinking, “is that in case I happen to see you get in or out of your car and I can yell across the parking lot, ‘sup MivieJo?” Why? Just why? Not as good as “NOXAUST” but still. Keep on keeping on. You make my commute through the Roaring Fork Valley so much more entertaining.

Korben Dallas 033Glad your backYou made me remember the seminar I went to with Mr Rippatoe. He is such a unique character and his program works. I am interested is hearing your takes on CrossFits speciality seminars from the past and present. Is CrossFit less innovative now? Also, what about camps influence on us mortals. Should we just be keeping it simple in the garage or affiliate? I am not tying to call anyone out. I believe that most programming with basic CrossFit principles work for the most part. Great podcast. You always have me 🤣with great info too.

dj_sos_27More wrestling stories, please!Come for the fitness takes, stay for the wrestling stories. Any chance you want to cover the upcoming World Championships? Either way, I agree that wrestling is the toughest sport. Any activity that has a crying room associated with it has got be a different beast. Thanks for the pods, the laughs, the insights, and most importantly, the solidarity of the same pet peeves.

D ClippThey’re Baaaaack! This podcast is a great reminder that your own fitness journey may not be somebody else’s highlight reel and that’s ok! It’s hard to not compare yourself to others, even your past self and Chris and Doug articulate this perfectly. One more quick thing.. I was a member of the old CF Park City location for just under a year as I transitioned between homes.. one day I forgot my shoes (one of the episodes Doug mentions he forgot socks and it reminded me of this story). Anyway, one of the trainers working said let’s take a look who has shoes in the office.. Chris’ shoes were too small. The trainer then said “here’s a pair of Doug’s shoes.” The two of us exchanged looks and he said “yeah I dont think he’d care but it’s probably best you don’t say anything about this.” Haha! Thanks for letting me borrow your shoes Doug! I promise I had socks that day! Welcome back guys, it’s good to have you back.

CrossFit BeefcakesThey’re baaacckkkChris and that other guy, So glad your back! The content you guys put out is so important and I think it’s needed now more than ever. I used to be the CrossFit Games hopeful that hammered myself all week long, multiple times a day. It wasn’t until I found the earlier podcasts that I took a step back and realized how nice it is to move well and feel good, opposed to being broke down 24/7. Question for you guys…I’m a 38 year old male and in great shape. I’ve started jiu jitsu 3x per week but want to continue training CrossFit as well. What are your suggestions on the proper CrossFit training volume to aid in jiu jitsu training while preventing burnout. Thanks! -CrossFit Beefcakes

SpeedtomatoYeah!! My favorite show is BACKIt brings me immense joy to see you both back together for the podcast! Your show was a beacon of light during a challenging period for me, and your insights on wether is about CF or life were incredibly valuable. Your return has truly lifted my spirits. Welcome back, and a big woohoo to the revival of the show!

KLLindbergNeeded this in my life!Listened to the podcast before, by far my favorite! Was so sad when it went offline and tried to find an adequate replacement with no luck. You just can’t beat the banter, real talk, fake sponsors, and pet peeves! Great attack (view) on fitness, life, or whatever comment they are responding to in a relatable (and entertaining) way. SO EXCITED you all are back!!
-
Wyco16Yes, sir!!So pumped you’re both back in the saddle! BEST podcast for all things fitness, life and just good humor.
-
airy182Yayyyy!!!I’m so happy that you both are back! We have been missing the stories about Chauncey, port-a-potties, and Doug’s list of pet peeves!!! I’m so freaking excited!!

AngeloDelGThe new normalHey Craig and Dan! Long review, so strap in. First of all, I have no idea what my Apple ID is, so hopefully it’s nothing too weird! Second of all, great to have you guys back! I’m not sure if Doug is trying to assert his dominance but he was definitely Louder than Chris (just as a heads up!) Doug, as a new dad who is also working full time and going to school online, I can completely relate to the feeling of just trying to make it into the gym (or basement) to workout. Intensity is off the table right now, just trying to get moving on a consistent basis again! Chris, I’m glad you have wised up and made the switch to Polar seltzers. The “‘ade” series are the best, with mango limeade being the king of the spicy water! I have been a listener since the early Icon Athlete days and glad you guys are back, now you just need some sweet intro music like before! P. S. I’d like to thank my sponsors Toyota and La Marzocco.

Jbraun49Love it!Amazing to have you guys back! Respect both of your opinions on fitness and love that it’s just 2 friends having random conversations

deatsFavorite duo is back! From 2017-2020 y’all’s podcast was my favorite and my go-to, still have all the eps saved on my phone actually. Always appreciated your insights, experiences, and opinions on pretty much anything. Within :03 seconds of playing this first episode of this new reboot I had a smile on my face and audibly chuckled out loud, as if I was seeing/hearing and reconnecting with long lost friends…well, friends who didn’t know we were friends, but in my mind, we absolutely were, ha. Cannot wait for new eps to drop and to hear about anything and everything y’all want to talk or rant about. Sincerely, thank you for bringing this podcast and my favorite duo back! Much love from a 40+ y/o fitness and outdoor enthusiast, and former affiliate/gym owner and cf coach from Texas, who is also trying to navigate through life, fitness and wellness on the back 40!

Ben_GabrielLike it was never goneGuys. Starting off with a bang! I remember the excitement every time I got in the car to listen to each episode. I was a late adopter initially and I remember being so disappointed when I caught up. I actually had to wait for the next episode... Anyways my question. I hear a lot of former games athletes talking now about how they have dialed it back and dialed back the intensity piece. Do you think you have gone a bit far? For most people, they have never/never will be an elite athlete. They most likely won't ever hit their physical capacity. I'm all for not hammering yourself into the ground but isn't intensity still important? Isn't tracking progress for these people still important? Won't that be one of the ways to get them to be a long term member? Hope that makes sense! Keep it up! I'm a big fan of the other guy. Ben
