    Lost its touch
Feels like the show lost a bit of its magic when one of the hosts stepped away. I would like to hear more stories and less etc talk, as episodes aren't very long to begin with. I've been listening since day 1 and I'm sad that I feel this way about the direction the show has taken. 😪

    hmm
i like the concept, but i feel like an interview style with more episodes would suit the classic radio vibes better, and the amount of ads on a 38 minute episode is nuts. over a third of the episode is ads, and as. a massage therapist who listens to podcasts while i work, it's difficult to skip over so many ads so i feel like i am held hostage by the commercials. it's just way too much, and a huge turn off.

Loving the new format! Very spooky.

    Re-Brand
I’ve been a longtime fan of Rattled & Shook and have always loved Meredith Stedman’s storytelling—her natural personality, engaging delivery, and candid, conversational tone made the show feel like a true experience rather than just another spooky podcast. Of course, Aprile Ruha and Meredith’s dynamic was a big part of what made it special, and while Aprile stepping away was a huge loss, I had confidence that Meredith would continue to carry the show in her own unique way. However, since the rebrand (or whatever shift is happening), something feels really off. In fact before I’ve rated the show 5 stars! However it feels like the show has lost the authenticity and personality that made it so compelling. Meredith’s responses now feel scripted, overly polished, and at times even robotic—almost like she’s reading lines rather than actually engaging with the stories. The energy, the natural flow, and the feeling that she actually cares about the cases have all faded. It doesn’t even feel like her anymore. I don’t know if this change is due to Tenderfoot TV or something else behind the scenes, but if it is a production-level decision, I really hope they reconsider. The storytelling has become blunted and lacks the depth and personality that made this podcast stand out in the first place. The reason so many of us were drawn in was because Meredith felt real, like she was with us in the story. Now, it feels detached, cookie-cutter, and honestly, a little soulless. I truly hope this is just a temporary adjustment period and that we’ll see Meredith’s real voice and style return soon. I miss the energy, the conversational approach, and the genuine enthusiasm she brought to each episode. Rattled & Shook has always been a favorite of mine, and I’d love to see it thrive again—but in its original, authentic form, not this overly sanitized version.

    Hotels - 13th Floor
My Dad has built Marriotts all over the country for 30 years. You will never find one with a 13th floor. LOVE THIS PODCAST! My complaint is, I always want this show to be longer!

I tried… I really did.. but I felt my brain turning to mush … just get it away from my ears…

A favorite but we miss April!
The other guests are not as good as having April as a cohost. But the stories are great. Also, April, it’s been my 20 yr dream to have a library ladder. Dare to dream.

    Good but inconsistent schedule
I’m a big fan when they actually post new episodes but the majority of the time they are on hiatus. We’ve had like one season and everything else is re-runs. They’re too new to the game to already be doing re-runs of episodes.

    SO HAPPY APRILE IS BACK!!
    !!!!

    Just eh.
I wish there were more stories and less chatter. It’s not good funny banter it’s just blah. I space out during all the chatter. Also it’s weird that there’s like 3 (I think?) episodes that’s a best of episode. I feel like there’s not enough episodes to justify one let alone 3.

    Already Hooked (and rattled)
Off to a great start. Way to go! Couldn’t fall asleep last night after listening hahaa Edit: We’re a couple months in and I get so excited every Thursday when the new episode drops. Thanks for making this awesome! Edit: of course I miss Aprile but I’m loving the new format with guests and the stories are super creepy!! Keep up the great work Update 12/24 super bummed about the news that aprile will no longer be a host. Prayers for your health Aprile and hoping the show stays strong!! All good things must end.

Miss Aprile but still like the show
I was living loving laughing like a throw pillow y’all. Choose your own adventure was especially enjoyable but your general banter, Terry’s overall input, and the ghost stories were great. Excited to hear more! Season 2 edit: I miss Aprile ☹️ Doesn’t feel like the same podcast without their banter. The guests are fine, but the interviews get boring quickly. Wishing Aprile the best, obviously we fans miss her but her health is most important!

    Love show
I was happy to hear April! I hope her continued good health ! We will miss you again on show

    Yay!
I missed Aprile!.. lol So glad she’s back❤️

    Love :)
I love this show and I wish everyone else could love it for what it is and stop complaining about banter and guests. The description of the show literally says “discussion -based, horror-comedy podcast. Think of it as a variety show”. If y’all want stories exclusively, you should probably just check out another show. The production and content is great and I’ve enjoyed every episode. If you order something and you don’t like it, it doesn’t always mean it’s bad it means it’s not for you!!

Can’t wait for April to return
This is a great show but it’s better with April. She is such a great foil to Meredith.
  • AudzP
    Just not good
The music is extremely annoying and just seems to be a time filler. The guests are not interesting and add little to the show. Just stick to the stories.
  • BrittyD23
Going Downhill fast …and not in a fun way
I used to love the stories on this podcast, now it’s more chatter than content and I find myself fast forwarding through all of it. Please bring back more content less filler

    I miss the old days…
I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast and the banter of Aprile and Meredith. But since Aprile has been absent, it just isn’t the same. I like others mentioned, don’t enjoy the different guests in this new season. I also miss Aprile’s storytelling presence too. I’ll be replaying older episodes but I don’t know if I’ll be continuing with this new structure :(

The spooky nieces of Terry Carnation
Obviously found my way to Rattled and Shook through my all-time favorite podcast, Radio Rental. This podcast is enjoyable, and does feel like it’s related to Radio Rental. April and Meredith do have a little awkward chemistry when they banter, but they remind me of my own quirky friends so I feel like their awkwardness is adaptable. I do miss the games they used to play in earlier episodes, the discussion of irrational fears, even the choose your own ChatGPT segments — I felt like that’s what made the podcast different. Even when they took a story and created a fake movie screenplay and full cast I was picking up what they were putting down.

Dislike Changes to Structure of Show
This show was a new favorite for sure. The hosts, April and Meredith, had great chemistry and the stories were strong. Now the show has had a noticeable change in content and unlikeable guest hosts. Meredith can hold her own, but without April the show is starting to tank.
  • Mr_Montana
    Ignoring listener pleas
First season was great. New season is more interviews focused with random friends of the host. Clearly fans of the show don’t like it but continue to be ignored.
  • Pony Rhodes
    Great show but…
PLEASE bring April back as co-host. She’s greatly missed.
  • Cassendyy
    What happened?
I used to love this show in the first season but now something has changed and it’s more of an interview show than a spooky story show. In the most recent episode there were only two stories and the hosts didn’t even talk about the stories. I miss the old format with more stories and consistent hosts. Also, don’t share stories with Radio Rental if you want listeners to listen to both.
  • autshi
    Love it!
Missing Aprile and Meredith’s chemistry while Aprile is on a break. And agree with another review that said they wished it was just Meredith hosting instead of Meredith AND her friends. Not really a fan of that.
  • mikejmc3
    Good stories
At first, I viewed this podcast as a B-tier Radio Rental, but over time I have come to appreciate its unique qualities. The stories tend to be a bit on the shorter side, but their quality remains high. There is a decent amount of banter between the stories, and both hosts have a fairly deadpan delivery. I found that to be a bit off-putting when I first started listening, but I have come to appreciate their unique delivery. Overall, I find this to be a fun, unique podcast to scratch that spooky story itch.

    Love the format and stories!
Edit: I love Meredith but I really miss Aprile. I hope she’s back soon! I love the format of this show! The mix of stories plus banter is about perfect. The hosts also aren’t trying too hard to be funny or unique - they’re just being themselves and it’s great.
  • Nikkix21
    Not enough stories
It’s just okay … I couldn’t get into it after a few episodes. The guests aren’t great and the stories aren’t long enough. Way too much chit chat for me.
  • Traylons
Wasn’t a fan of the new format til Beatty!
I really dig Aprile & Meredith! *AND* also chose to come and leave a whole public review to say that this most recent episode with Beatty actually had me both thoroughly spooked and busting into laughter in public. I’d love to hear more episodes with her as an interim host or guest until Aprile’s grand return!

Been a listener for a while now! While I do miss April, I loved Katherine on the show 🤣 “ I want another KitKat “ 💀

    Bring April back!
Meredith and April as a pair make this show fun. The stories are good but the guests are not great.
  • Poochie623
    Too much pointless banter.
Out of a 30 minute show there may be 10 minutes of actual stories if you get lucky.
  • Emmalee9847
    Missing Aprile!
Loved the stories and format in season one, but this season really changed :( The guests and interviews aren’t interesting to me - I listen for the scary stories and the banter between Meredith and Aprile! I really hope Aprile comes back soon!
  • Graveler
    I want them both!!
For the record I love Meredith just as much as I love Aprile. Without them both it’s a completely different type of podcast. The random guests take away the feeling the original season used to bring. Please no more interviews with randos and give us more radio rental level material. Get us back to season 1 vibes and you’ll have 5 stars
  • instagreamson
    Love the show overall
I love the stories, the audio mixing is excellent and audio overall is high quality. I will say: I know April is on a break but I would prefer it’s just Meredith and the stories until she’s back. I frankly have no interest in getting to know Meredith’s friends and am largely here for just the scary stories.
  • Kerri Bee
    The best!
I love everything about this show! April and Meredith are funny and engaging and lighten the load of these truly spooky stories. The guests are fun and absolutely loved the horror movie or rom com game! More games! I actually have a sleep paralysis story that Id love to share! Not sure how I go about submitting my story.
  • chirpychirpy
    a spooky warm hug
Added bonus: Beatty! I love this show. There’s something about two hosts who genuinely like each other that feels like hanging with friends. I like the stories and love the banter. One of my favorites right now 🥰
  • Kristin Clark
    Bring back Aprile
Loved this show in the first season. Without Aprile it feels forced and awkward.
  • Ciiiaaarrrraaaa
    Keep up the great work!
I love this show! The real spooky stories always get me. The funky, old timey in between show vibes are fun and the hosts always make me laugh!
  • ChalupaThunder
You don’t need to play an ad for the show at the beginning of every episode
We’re already listening to the show? Why play an ad for the show we’re already tuned in to???? Every single episode
  • Nugget me
    Bring back April
She was a sole reason why I loved the show! Without her these episodes feel hollow and hard to sit through.

    A Plus
Katherine Ellis was a great guest co host. Kreeptastic episode with jazz music bonus jams. Hotty Toddy!
  • High Strangeness fan
    Love this podcast!
I read everything you write with each episode so I understand why things have changed temporarily. I wish others would READ and listen to you when you explain why the hosts have changed. I am enjoying Meredith’s guests and all the banter while Aprile is gone. I have been a fan since day one and must be the only fan who liked your variety show style with horror games. I think you guys sound like npr hosts with your speaking style which makes me giggle. Keep up the great work!
  • PDlikespodcasts
    Eh…
I was already on the fence about this show as the hosts are not my favorite. They’re very young and sound super inexperienced and a bit awkward. I’ve stayed for the occasional good story because I love scary stories, but now they’ve added a bunch of interviews and turned it into a talk show, which I really don’t think their audience wants. Seems like a bad move.
  • kaciejeand0725
    Not great this season
I used to love this show but WHAT IS HAPPENING? This turned into a guest host interview show. Literally so much random talking in between stories. We need April back. Ugh
  • sammriches
    Is this permanent?
These guests/interviews that have been happening recently are kind of unbearable. Is this a permanent disappointment or just temporary?
  • Eastlake Rob
    New Format is Terrible
    Bring back Aprille!
  • lillmaru
    I generally enjoy this show
Unfortunately the music in the background of the first story in the latest episode was too loud and was almost too painful for me listen with my headphones on. I just thought I’d let you know for future episodes.
  • MusicalMissionary
    Happy Halloween
Both of you are so sweet. Thanks for all that you do.
  • Ptnado
    Great show but…
Love the stories but the dumb banter in between every segment is killing me.
