Toxic Workplace

This podcast was created to give employees a voice; the voice that management wouldn't listen to because of deep rooted company politics, misuse of power, or a lack of leadership. This show gives a platform to the employee that was never allowed a last word, or who's words had no value to management. Toxic Workplace is not just a collection of stories; it's a movement towards awareness of how dysfunctional patterns of behavior in the workplace can wreak havoc on your body, mind and spirit. Through candid narratives, listeners will gain invaluable insights into the profound personal growth and newfound perspectives that can emerge from surviving soul-crushing workplace dynamics.

    Resilience and Hope
If you know, you know what it’s like to deeply want to know if it’s you or not. Working in a toxic work environment leaves you shattered. I know. I was mobbed out of a job I absolutely loved but the writing was on the wall. These are heart breaking stories filled with resilience, strength and hope. If you are going through a toxic situation or looking for support, this is an amazing podcast to bookmark. From the bottom of my heart and everyone else’s who has gone through this journey, thank you for a safe platform that highlights this serious issue.

We’re in an epidemic of toxic bosses
I found this show after someone posted on the Reddit sub “Managed by Narcissists”. It’s both affirming and tragic to hear these stories. Listening to this show is like joining a support group. This is one of the best shows about bad bosses and badly managed companies. I like how Carleigh empowers her guests to tell their stories. So many other shows become about the host and their witty barbs and hot takes, but this show is about real people telling their stories.

    spot on
And 100% what HR and every narcissistic boss out there doesn’t want you to hear. This is not just a podcast, this is a movement. The more people that can learn from these experiences, the more leverage they will have to rise UP.

    Truly Validating
Too many people who experience toxic workplaces suffer in silence. Chances are, you’ll hear your story in at least one episode and be validated.

    Validation
I realized after over ten years that I was in a toxic workplace. The signs were there, but when I became the problematic employee, it became abundantly clear. Hearing these stories validated and assured me that I did the right thing when I stood up and became the “problem.”

These stories is a movement. I've never felt so informed and inspired to do something about my toxic work environment. This podcast should be on the recommendations list for all leadership courses. This saves my sanity
I was stuck in the mental space where I self doubt was the only thing I believed in. Still stuck but with a much better understanding of what I am dealing with thanks to this podcast

    Toxic Troubles
This podcast is so enlightening! Until I listened I believed my workplace troubles were my fault. Hearing some of these stories has brought me realization that if I deal with these types of people/situations differently and set boundaries, I will feel better about myself.

    I’m not alone
I’ve been listening on and off for a few months . I am leaving my 3rd toxic county job . This last county job I could only do for 4months. I knew within the first week that this place wasn’t at all a good workplace .The IT person during training made me feel so incompetent. Was talking to me very crazy . I was the only one in the training so I’m sure he felt like he could do it. My boss would yell at me and became so impatient if I asked a question. She would tell me something, then switch up and say she didn’t say it . I’ve never been talked to this way by a boss. There is too much to type. To know I’m not alone is so sad . I really wish we could sue these companies to teach them a lesson . Sending you all love and light . We will get through this .

Such a valuable pod, thankful it exists!
I’m so happy I came across this podcast on Instagram and it led me to listen. The episodes are full of amazing (and sadly relatable) stories of people who have worked at awful companies, with toxic bosses and coworkers, but they’ve come out of it all armed with new knowledge and insights that they share here. The host is great at summing up these experiences and educating listeners on what to look for during job hunts and the first days of a new job. Everyone, especially teens and young adults, will benefit from giving this podcast a chance. Now I’m hooked!

    Toxic Workplace victim
I Can relate to one or two situations in each of your episodes. It’s infuriating that we allow this to happen to us. The imposter syndrome I w developed at my job of 10 years has instilled a fear of new opportunities even within the company. I’m hoping that by listening and listening I get the courage to get out of that toxicity. Thank you for this podcast.

    My got to podcast
I connect so much with these stories. After living this first hand it’s nice to know I’m not alone and you don’t have to stay in that situation. These stories gave me the courage to leave my own personal toxic work environment.

    Caring & Professional
Carleigh is the Sarah Koenig of toxic workplaces. The episodes are really well edited, produced and researched for maximum impact and ensuring the guests voice and story are heard clearly. I can only imagine how cathartic and healing it must be to have your story told by such a caring and professional host. I’ve listened to dozens of podcasts on this topic in my own research toward naming a toxic experience I had, and this “Serial” style one is a breath of fresh air - it’s clear how much work is out into each episode. This podcast is a welcome relief and service to people trying to tell their own story. Thank you Carleigh & Co!

    Validating
Im so thankful for this podcast, the host has such great narration and sticks to the facts while validating the experiences of the people she interviews. As someone who is currently trying to get out of a toxic work environment, this podcast has been seriously helpful for me in validating how vile and unhealthy my workplace really is . I have gained some strength and wisdom from hearing these stories and I hope to be interviewed some day when I’m free . Also just interesting stories and a glimpse into peoples work lives / feelings. Love it .

    I loved this
I love this podcast. Currently I’m working in a company that I just love and I have not found such a nice group of people in decades. However I have worked and some of the craziest environments. If you look at my résumé all the corporations I have worked for are corporations that a person on the street would know and possibly want to work in them. I was well loved until I hit 40 and gained weight. From then on, I became the scapegoat and was bullied. This was a new experience to me and took me a while to identify it. As you suggest, you think of bullying as a childhood experience and hard to image that grown adults with education would consider picking on a 40 year old woman. Listening to these podcast made me feel like I’m not alone and in someways gave me a chance to check let my own situation removing myself from the emotional pain that I felt during the time. It is unbelievable what a powerful effect the bullying can have on a person’s life. It can make you start to believe the lies. I hope there is a rising up in awareness and corporations adopt a 0 tolerance for bullying. It is economically bad for the company as well as being inhumane.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Toxic Workplace sheds a light on the realities of what is sadly all too common in employee’s working environments. People give so much of their lives to a job (I understand, in exchange for a paycheck) and so many of those jobs are in toxic work cultures. I am grateful to the people who come forward, and share their work stories on this podcast.

    This show really hit home
I kept listening to these episodes and saying “oh my gosh, me too, yes, exactly, and I get that.” Such good information. Sometimes, toxic workplaces are a slow burn not a wildfire, and just creep up on you.

    Amazing
This podcast speaks to my soul! So great for leaders who want to provide the best possible experience for their employees and for those who are unfortunately in a situation similar to those discussed. It really helps you feel empowered and takes the weight off your shoulders when you realize it isn’t just you. A must listen!

    Amazing podcast!!
This podcast helped me so much when I got a new manager who was a narcissist who created a terrible toxic work environment. I had been in a relationship with a narcissist for many years and I had educated myself on NPD shortly after the relationship ended. Because of that I could easily spot the signs of narcissistic abuse in my new boss. I love that this podcast gives real examples of toxicity and the cycle of abuse, how to identify red flags, and how to care for yourself! Absolutely amazing! Thank you!

This is a great podcast -highly recommend!!
The story settings and the way the conversation is set up is great. This is one of the best podcast I’ve heard in a while. I wish more people will find this podcast and share it with their friends and loved ones .This is such a great space to learn and know that you are not alone if you have experienced working at a toxic workplace.

    A huge thank you!
Thank you for creating a space to safely share these traumatic experiences. It’s so hard to explain how workplace bullying can happen to mature, educated, hardworking adults to someone who hasn’t experienced it. Others may have witnessed it or even played a role in the bullying without really understanding the damage being done. It is brutal and lonely and very scary and anyone who is going through it or survived it needs mounds of support. So thank you again ❤️. I would bet everyone listening has their own story; we just haven’t quite found the courage to share it, yet.

    Excellent and much needed podcast!
I needed this podcast!! I had to leave a toxic workplace and wanted to educate myself on the subject to be better prepared should it happen again. It is by far the most well produced and most informative and enjoyable podcast on the subject. It is exactly what I was looking for. I relate to the majority of the guests’ and host’s experiences. The host does a fantastic job presenting the episodes and she takes time to further explain things discussed in the episodes. I look forward to them every week!! The “Antidote” episodes have guests with professional experience in workplace culture who provide helpful information about toxic workplace culture and links to other resources. I recommended this podcast to a friend who is still at the toxic company and he thinks they are great too. These podcasts have helped him tremendously; he’s setting boundaries and developing strategies to deal with the toxic coworkers with much less stress and more successful outcomes.

    A Must Listen
Carleigh does a great job narrating these stories. I can never wait for the next episode! These stories are very relatable and hit close to home!

    Relatable but unsure
Host does a great job and the content is reliable and entertaining - but I am having a hard time deciding whether each situation is indeed a toxic workplace or if the guest was the issue. As they say - “if everyone around you is a problem, maybe you’re the problem .”
  • Tina_Rey
