Great combat sports podcast if you know what to expect
I have 3 combat sports (primarily mma with some boxing talk) podcasts that are my go to’s for different reasons. Weighin in — great commentary by former fighter/ref who have real world experience in what they talk about Morning Kombat — Luke Thomas provides exceptional breakdowns and previews of fights. This is more analytical which I also love. MMA Hour w/ Ariel Hewani — this show has it’s own space it owns and that’s the interview world. No other show has this many top fighters come on for lengthy interviews where they speak freely. I learn so much about what these fighters think and feel leading up to and during fights. It’s truly unique and what makes this show amazing. Sure, Ariel is a strong personality, but that’s part of the magic. If he’s not asking these uncomfortable questions then we would never hear some of these remarkable answers. Take the show for what it is and enjoy.

    MMA Hour
I’ve been listening/watching since late 2015. Its definitely one of my escapes. Ariel and I don’t agree on everything ( I dont even know him so that’s weird to say ) but always loved the interviews.

    Long time viewer
I’m over it… constant whining… constant WWE talk. If you want a podcast/show about MMA, go listen to Morning Kombat.

Ariel ! Hit me up 🤙!
Ariel please hit me up! I would love to talk about UFC! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee!

    Chael/Tatiana
Jerzyxplorer Yo Chael is the man. I love his takes, the energy and he gives a different flavor to the show!!! How is it that these fighters dont let Ali know that he works for them. If Dana White “allows “his employees on the show why cant these fighters come on. Unless Dana is really pulling strings. Or Ali is really overstepping his lane of responsibility. The average fan doesn't know who Patrick “ Patchy” Mix is. He’s limiting his reach.

Helwani is the man. Best guests. Best interviews. Pound for pound mma journalist champ!

    Constant whining and biased
Was a big Ariel supporter but his constant whining and biased towards fighters like Francis and the City Kick Boxing guys has just become unbearable. We get it you like them and they come on and show you love. You feel like Francis is a underdog and was wronged by Dana so you want to side with him. The going back and digging up receipts in the past routine was cool at first but it is just so tiring and desperate now. You sound like a scorned lover who can’t get over your ex. That segment with Chael today was so cringeworthy all you kept harping on was the money and how Francis won in that aspect, I know Chael has his faults and supports Dana at times but he was making points on a business side regarding that fight. You can’t keeping giving the narrative Francis is going to make another 10mil on PPV when the American audience was too busy watching college football on a Sat afternoon or would even consider paying for that. Independent Helwani is more Biased Helwani, you’re never down the middle as a journalist anymore.

    Good guests but…..
it takes Ariel forever to spit out a sentence. He’ll ask the same question at least three times before the guest speaks or and add seven different superlatives when discussing or introducing someone. Its pretty annoying Second- he asks fighters questions using “we”. Like “are we going to keep the beard for the fight”. He’s not going in the ring. Third- stop asking dumb questions like does Jeff Neal’s tooth hurt or what was it like for Juliana miller to not use her phone for a week. Fourth-can’t put this one into words but he certainly asks questions to get fighters to talk behind the backs of others. Fifth-we all know he’s banned from the UFC and he never goes to them and pretends like it doesn’t matter. Sixth- that crazy hi pitch Voice….

    Ariel is a ----stirring rat
Loves to play victim and is willfully ignorant when it helps his argument. Dana was right. This pathetic rat of a human started a race war for his own benefit. Disgraceful. I hope he dies violently in front of his family.

Great show for the MMA fan
Good production quality. Great guests and interviews. Ariel gets a lot of unnecessary hate but he is the best in the biz as far as I’m concerned.

    Biased takes
Try to listen but the obviously biased takes are a bit frustrating. Podcast could be greatly improved by implementing more honest journalism. MMA would greatly benefit from real journalists & this podcast could fill that void with a slightly less bitter/biased slant. Learn, grow, be better, Ariel.

    My favorite podcast!
Nothing gets me more excited and more pumped for a event than this podcast. If a event is upcoming or in the past this is the very best hands down. I listen to others but this one is my all time favorite. Been a fan for over 10 years. I love the new Helwani and will follow him anywhere he goes.

    Paddy breakdown was epic!
Paddy VS El Naris was an epic beat down of Paddy and manager. Way to go El Naris

Good guests but can’t take helwanis questions
Ariel takes forever to spit out a question. He will ask the same thing over three or four times before he lets the guest talk. He also asks to many dumb questions (ie asked chandler didn it hurt to get punched….) Also he seems to talk nice to and about the guests that come on the show and not so nice about the guys that dislike him and don’t come on the show. Don’t really trust his answers especially from a guy banned from ufc events and the biggest managers In The (so called) sport.

    Ariel Little Mermaid Heelwani Stinks
This pod is garbage. Go listen to The Fighter and The Kid. Brendan Schaub is the man. He’d destroy Heelwani. Heelwani is a ped0 for sure. TFATK is awesome. The Golden Hour is a dope podcast as well.

Heelwani is the best, never listened to him

The best in all of sports
Been listening for years and there’s no show/podcast that compares. Ariel has amazing conversations with all the top personalities in the combat sports industry.
  • Rugby Tiger
    Ariel ruining his own show
Helwani has become too obsessed with himself or whatever heel character he’s created. That childish condescending voice he now does to disrespect his listeners is disgusting and dehumanizing. The majority of us are appreciative of the interviews and just want to listen. But when we are described and characterized by Ariel as the lowest common denominator - it’s not worth the time in an already difficult day. Especially with many alternative podcasts.

    One of One
This is hands-down the most comprehensive MMA podcast available. Ariel is the best MMA journalist/reporter, and he has a consistent lineup of fantastic names in the industry every week. His interview style just allows conversations to flow. Thank you Ariel for constantly feeding my hunger for MORE MIXED MARTIAL ARTS!

    Ariel JUST LOST ANOTHER SUB!
Dude won’t stop using his stupid voice to make fun of people, it’s beyond annoying and he doesn’t know when to stop. You lost me dude and I’m telling all my friends and family to leave as well! Be professional you fool, goodbye!

    NEEDS A PRODUCER
This show is absolutely great.. if you listen on YouTube however if you don’t the show will be littered with dead air after ads, missing clips and sometimes whole interviews, or in the case of the last episode TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EPISODES FROM TWO COMPLETELY WEEKS TALKING ABOUT TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FIGHT CARDS GET MUSHED TOGETHER AND PUT OUT LIKE THIS IS SOME AMATEUR PORNO
  • Super pet girl
You need to listen to this show
I have never rated or reviewed a podcast. This show is “must listen” stuff. There are too many reasons but mainly it is brutally honest and Ariel Helwani has a way of bringing out the real people behind the names and making them human. I can’t wait for each new episode. The interview with Pat Barry and Rose was mind blowing and I think Ariel said maybe 3 words the entire interview!

    Quit Disparaging Your Listeners
Last 2 times I tuned in, Ariel starts the show by whining that his listeners are whiners/complainers. MMA is an escape. No one wants to hear you complain about your listeners. At least I don’t.
  • jessescott13
    Best in the game

    Too much dead air
I understand the format, but my god the amount of times I have to check my phone to make sure it’s still playing drives me mad. 5 to 10 second gaps of the host just thinking or reading the computer?! This podcast has some serious issues it has to figure out, which is a shame because it has potential.

    10-7 Helwani
The biggest reasoning for low ratings is the length of the show. Even me who can’t sit and watch every episode i def listen in the car and i wouldnt miss a single episode. Journalism at its finest, Ariel asks the questions the people want to know! The UFC is at a disservice for not having him on the payroll! 🤷🏾‍♂️

    MMA review
3-4 hours is waaaaay too long. Who has the time or the desire? Good for background chat when training for a marathon or long bike ride but even then how many times do you ask the obvious and it becomes a borefest. And I do like you. Tyson interview was good but a million miles away from great. There was literally nothing he said that I have not heard 20x over the years from him. Name one? Mental health, fighting philosophy, family, living in Vegas, etc., nothing. Is he entertaining and well spoken? Yup. So what? Literally, not one word was news . I like him as a boxer. However, I am curious to know why you or anyone else never bring up his antisemetic rants that we have all seen and read about from the younger Tyson. Well you would never mention it bc as the world knows you have no balls. And listening to you slap yourself on the back like you just had an interview of a lifetime was pathetic. No new insights from him, no challenging or interesting questions from you, just a dude reciting the same old statements he always makes. Was it better than listening to some MMA fighter drone on about calling someone out? Yes but cmon Helwani get a grip on reality. What you need “my man” ( time to give up that expression that you use 1000x) is confidence. You’re good at what you do, you have the knowledge, seem friendly and otherwise bright, have a wide and kids, make a living, etc., but you have to grow a pair. Less pandering, more direct and challenging questions without being afraid that nobody will be a guest on your show again. They need your show more than you need them

Best mma show, and it’s not close.
Love it. Ariel is a role model for m as an interviewer. Burks segment is always a must listen.
  • zinson123
    Are you serious?
4 hours? I won’t even start the 1st episode because what loser would spend 4 hours of his limited time on earth listening to any podcaster for 4 hours. Unless you’re unemployed and living in your mom’s basement.
  • Hootie pie
    Better than DC & RC
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY Better than DC & RC!!! Better than below the belt. The only downside is Ariel’s laugh is like nails on a chalkboard. 👍🏻

    Heelwani is the goat.
Heelwani is the goat definitely the Best in the Business. Any one who listens to Shaub is a looser. If you come at the king you better not miss.
