NikkodegalloGo-To Nutrition PodcastMy go-to nutrition/health/wellness podcast. Jay and Mike (and Danny who’s occasionally on) balance each other out perfectly in explaining complex physiological processes and sifting through the research; making it all easier to understand. I look forward to the new episode (or 2) every week. Appreciate all the time and energy you guys put into learning and spreading this information!

Katy1678543Challenging the status quoI really enjoy listening to these guys, but I don’t agree with their main idea that we should eat every three hours and drink juice, as if we were babies or God forbid we spike our cortisol levels. Studies have shown that fasting improves both the number and function of mitochondria, which play a key role in our health. This approach also seems more consistent with human evolution. And the same goes for any hormesis- cold, heat exposure, exercise.

Dietitian MelGreat content…but slow down!Loving the content on this show and the thoroughness of your research. I hear half of what you say, however, because you talk way too fast (I think it’s Jay).

Stem-fan 53Amazing content and practical adviceA super podcast that I never miss.

jk1212Seems legit, but you never can tell who to trust…I discovered these guys a few months ago and was immediately intrigued, and cautiously interested. I’ve struggled with chronic health issues for a long time, and I’m very skeptical of the alternative health industry. When you’re desperate, and you discover the very immediate limitations of conventional medicine, you make for easy prey… I’ve tried a lot of things, with mixed but ultimately sub-satisfactory results, so I’m still looking for some real solutions. The bioenergetic view makes a ton of sense, and I encourage anyone unfamiliar to give this show a chance, its certainly one of the most sober and in-depth explanations of it out there from two guys who seem to know their stuff. Where things got weird for me is when you head over to their business websites. You’ll quickly find yourself in a Tim Ferris-inspired house of mirrors worthy of any clownish instagram influencer with a program to sell you. Their consultation process is shady at best, I talked to some admin on zoom who seemed to be reading from a script and didn’t even turn her camera on. At the moment, I’m disappointed. I think these guys could have a legit respectable practice, but instead it ultimately comes off like a “i will teach you the 10 steps to make money online” scam. Maybe the program works and helps people, but for now I’m turned off… I think most of their health philosophy is sound, so take what you find useful from this podcast, but I’m hesitant to give them a dime.

kkatscanAmazing materialMost balanced health podcast. You guys should look into Dr Tom Cowan’s work. So much of modern science is based on unproven theories that the the proven gets left behind. Sadly the heath of American children and adults is the price we pay.

karen from DallasIf you have been gaslight by your doctors and “health gurus “ please listen to this podcastI wish I knew these guys before trying all sorts of diets with no success. Very educational and clear health discussions. Btw intuitively I stopped taking metformin after taking it for over a decade with so many side effects. I try to convince some people I know taking it to stop, but so many believe their doctors rather than go by how they feel.

CTDowd2C02, Tissue 02, swelling SeriesThese guys did an outrageous job discussing the the importance of C02. They brought seemingly disparate cellular biochemistry paths into a cohesive picture of how we operate and why C02 is important. Great job. You both play off each others thoughts so well , repeating messages in different words; Very easy to listen and learn. Thanks so much for all your research.
-
KarenJTXGreat informative showThe show is very informative and is based on Ray Peat’s ideas on metabolism.
-
RandimityDensely informativeI make sure to listen to these guys when I’m alone without distractions because they offer a lot of information in the form of studies and logical conclusions on the topics of health and nutrition. The information they offer is sort at the intersection between ancestral diets, Ray Peat, and animal based, while being very clear that the right carbs are not the enemy and should make up a good chunk of the diet.

XstinamGood informationGet a guest co-host please. Respectfully

Euphoric TeamA must-listen!An engaging podcast with fascinating info and lots of science to back it up. You’re going to learn a lot. Grateful to find the Energy Balance Podcast! ☺️
-
BjoifdstjhdtuLearning so much!I have listened to podcasts 1-4 so far. I am learning so much!! It isHelpful to understand the why and the how - and not just memorize a list of foods to eat/ not eat. This is filling in the big picture and the parts have been missing. Keep up the good work!
-
Weg119These guys are awesome!!!Looking for true science not propaganda? This is your podcast! Thanks fellas Dr Hugh Wegwerth DC

Blake203AmazingLearned so much from this show

Doc-911Great Podcast! This is a great podcast if you're interested in general health and if you want to boost your energy levels. There's something new and interesting to learn in every episode, and the dynamic exchange between hosts Jay and Mike adds an extra layer of enjoyment, enriching the conversations with their chemistry and expertise.
-
dblack73It all makes sense!I've been heavily into health and wellness since the pandemic started, and I've listened to over a hundred different podcasts. Few, if any, make as much sense as Jay and Mike, and I'm so glad I discovered them.

johnny fin finDeep, nuanced, intelligent, holistic, and balanced! Can’t recommend this enough. I’m a Holistic Medical Practitioner and Licensed Acupuncturist for 10 years. These guys are flipping my world as I come from the low carb sphere, and have been recommending low carb to patients for years. Got to a point in the long run where low carb declined my own health especially after doing carnivore. I love how everything they discuss aligns with how I practice medicine holistically as far as referring to physiology, pathophysiology, and viewpoints of holistic health. For me they are filling in many different gaps and helping to reframe areas of nutrition and functional health into a more balanced approach. Super grateful for this podcast. These guys are really giving amazing insight and guidance. Worth diving into!
-
mFord122Love the content but.....I have been binging on this podcast so maybe that's why repetitive verbal phrases are so evident but one of them says "and things like that" FREQUENTLY😬. I had to take a break due to it but I'll be back. The content is excellent!
-
Juliette SimonMind blown …… by the level of knowledge evidenced in these podcasts. Painstakingly making my way through them and Ray Peat’s articles and learning quite a bit of biochemistry in the process. Besides the trickling down of knowledge I enjoy the practical advices and I can say that I am now a recovering cod liver addict! I cannot thank you enough, Jay and Mike!
-
12yearsWhere have I been? The best podcast about nutrition I have heard. Presented in a very humble but scientifically backed manner. Enough technical science yet discussed in a way that should be accessible for most people. I am disappointed I did not learn of this podcast three years ago, but I am thankful to have found it now. What a remarkable resource. Thank you Jay and Mike for your thorough work and effort put toward this information. Such a valuable resource.
-
Intelligent Movie FanStill seeking answersThis podcast goes into depth about physiological processes related to nutrition and health problems, which I love, but after 6 hours of listening I still don’t understand the causes. I understand the processes much better but what is causing, for instance, of insulin resistance.
-
EvolvePilatesObsessedAfter hearing Jay Feldman on Paul Saladino’s podcast I have been obsessed with this podcast starting w/ episode 1-6 to get a deeper understanding of bioenergectics and then working back from most recent. Jay and Mike give detailed scientific resolutions to problems I have run into over a lifetime of restricted eating, including, most recently a 4 year stint on strict Keto.
-
Booma23Great stuff GuysLove the information, you guys are on top of it. I do have one request. Mike, for God sakes, and for the love of all things good and holy. Please, PUH-LEASE stop saying “um”!!! You literally say “um” at least 100 times per episode. It is so distracting from the content!
-
Be&BuLife changingSince listening to this entire podcast, I have already corrected many health issues that had developed after 15 years on the autoimmune Paleo diet. Bringing juice and fruit back into my diet now seems a no-brainer, but wow. So many gems here for Hashimoto's/ hypothyroid sufferers. I was taking my armor for 35 years in a sub-optimal way. I am listening to my body's reactions and pivoting accordingly. My tremors, constipation, and dizziness are gone after two weeks. Thank you so much.
-
LO110718Finally!!I have been trying for years to find the right nutritional balance and like many other listeners of this podcast, I ended up on the low calorie spiral to fatigue, no libido, restlessness, and hormone problems. I am now eating almost 50% more than I was (of the right foods) and feel so much better. I had been a month and the bags under my eyes are receding, I can work all day without fatigue and brain fog, I get up in the morning refreshed. A much better way to live!
-
Nomad GirlFinally!I’ve been looking for this information my whole life! There’s nothing simple about the way the body works, but there are universal truths, and these guys explain it all in a way that helps me FINALLY understand it all. Thank you!!!
-
Jaycee_RegisNot Enough InformationIt feels like they just talk through ideas rather than providing a clear path to energy balance. I’m sure there is nuance but earlier episodes don’t actually assist with transitioning to energy balance from keto, as an example. The information isn’t really actionable is what I intend to say…
-
ChgrnetConcise, clear guidance on how to balance your energyI have enjoyed listening to these podcasts, and have learned so much about how to balance my energy. Thank you so very much for the time and effort you put into sharing this information, it is greatly appreciated and needed.
-
JoyHWTerrific informationI love these two, they provide so much great information on better health and do it in an easily understandable and mellow way. I appreciate this podcast so much. Thanks guys!
-
ALadywithFrizzyHairAn open-minded, generous look into Ray Peat’s workJay and Mike are excellent teachers and hosts. They explain the science/biology behind what they believe in a direct and easy-to-understand way while giving credit to the sources of their scientific understandings. They also keep an open mind and are flexible to change their beliefs when new science/proof emerges. On a personal notes, the information they provide changed the trajectory of my thyroid health after being low carb for 4 years. 5 stars for this wonderful podcast!
-
Spencer_Steele91Top notch!Jay and Mike are the best thing to happen to the bio energetic community since Raymond Peat. They put all these concepts into realistic ways for the average joe to implement into their daily lives. These guys are amazing!
-
Gabby PortuFascinating Information!Like the hosts, I have tried so many different ways of eating: Paleo, Low Carb, Keto, Carnivore…I listen to health podcasts all of the time, mainly because I find mastery of nutrition to be THE MAIN component of good health, and because it is so very interesting. I recently heard Jay interviewed on Peak Human (my fave podcast!) and was intrigued. Since then, I have been slowly digesting The Energy Balance Podcast and am enjoying every minute. I have been firmly in the camp of “modern medicine is doing everything wrong” for some time now, and this podcast solidifies my position. Highly recommend to anyone interested in knowledge over dogma and Big Pharma medicine.
-
Ghjkl4826Wanted to like thisBut they spitball a lot of concepts without ever drawing and actionable conclusions. Like they are attempting to make the listener read between the lines.
-
Tate 57Jay and Mike 👍I first heard about Jay on the Ben Greenfield podcast. I have applied a lot of his theories and opinions to my program and I feel great. Was struggling a lot with being cold, low energy and mood disorders. I have felt significantly better. Every time there is a new episode drop I get excited. Him and Mike are highly educated and talk about a lot of things from a different perspective all backed by their readings and research. Great podcast.
-
FrancescaDLSClass is in session! This podcast is honestly like being in school. So informative, so concise. Top 5 for sure.

BradkearnsOutstanding Show With Breakthrough InsightsJay Feldman and Mike Fave are exceptionally well prepared and deliver a very dense educational experience on every single show. They offer extensive scientific reference for their assertions, many of which challenging the foundational principles of the progressive health movement. If you are open minded and critical-thinking, you will be well served to listen carefully to many of their shows. Along with their scientific reference, the hosts share extensive personal experience as well as experience with actual clients. I have been reflecting deeply on many of the insights I learned on the show and have been inspired to perform my own experiments, listen to more and more shows, and continue to progress in my health journey. One of the best shows for sure!
-
k-applepieSo much great info!I’ve been LOVING this podcast! Learning so much about my physiology and how to support it. Jay and Mike are so knowledgeable, love that there are lots of references in the show notes. If you want to learn more about how to support your body and make informed choices for your health, this podcast is a great place to start!
-
manthersThis podcast is gold!Informative , insightful + actionable. This podcast is jam packed with useful information to build overall health, a strong metabolism and get your body utilizing energy properly and efficiently. Jay + Mike do an excellent job breaking down the why behind the plethora of actionable steps they share. They are also relatable, as they have been on other side of health and do a really fantastic job of approaching/dissecting topics from all sides. I am already seeing positive shifts from applying several of their recommendations into my own life! Definitely give this one a listen!
-
CarnivoreCathHoly Grail of Nutrition & Wellness!I have listened to thousands of hours of podcasts over the years and this one has recently captured my attention and deep admiration! Jay and his friend Mike do such an incredible job clearly laying out very accessible explanations of how our human physiology and biochemistry operate. They manage to take very complex subjects and present them in very accessible and understandable ways. I see Jay & Mike as rising stars in the world of nutrition and wellness! Thank you so much for your gifts and obvious devotion to science!
-
jeremyatrezoHighly recommend! This podcast is an amazing resource for health and fitness knowledge! Note to future listeners: listen to the episodes in order. The beginning episodes lay a foundation and the later episodes build on top of the foundation.
-
kwe531Best in the bioenergetic world. In my opinion this is the best podcast in the bioenergetic realm. Lots of great information and insights that I haven’t seen/heard other places. Jay and Mike have a very practical and balanced approach to health, and clearly have a lot of experience (both in their own journey and in working with others). Highly recommended!
-
Anii GBest health information! This is by far the best podcast I’ve found on health. Amazing information with well formulated information that is practical, applicable and profound. Highly recommend!
-
slperry89I’ve learned a lotI’ve been looking for ways to improve my health and have been a bit too obsessed with understanding what’s the ideal diet after reading the book The Big Fat Surprise. After listening to proponents of the Keto, Paleo, Carnivore and Vegan diets and trying a few of them, I decided a very restrictive diet is a bad idea. Jay and Mike’s Ray Peat inspired approach just makes a ton of sense to me with all that I’ve learned. I can eat mostly what I want while still avoiding the most harmful foods. Feeling great so far and I’ll update my review if that changes.
-
FJM5000Water & SaltThank you for explaining this. My dad had high blood pressure, diabetes and he didn’t follow the “dr’s orders” of less Salt. He ate mostly natural foods, homemade and not much processed foods. Lived to age 82. Remember we live in an Era where Pizza is a vegetable, So there’s that. Keep up the great podcast.
-
mahalia4792Drowsiness after grainThank you for mentioning how people automatically assume that drowsiness after grains is a blood sugar problem! I have been drowsy after white rice but not after fermented mashed potatoes, so I didn’t understand why.
-
strawberry484AmazingThis podcast is full of so much health knowledge! They really explain things scientifically and then break it down so I can understand it. There’s always something I learned that I can take away and apply to my life. Thanks so much for sharing your smarts!!!!
-
joslin33Excellent explanation of bioenergetic way of eatingPlenty of helpful information
-
RohloffjSolid materialGood take on fitness and nutrition. However, when I continually hear a guest say, "... And things like that" it leads me to believe they are full of it. What are these "things like that" you speak of?

WilliamBelafonteAhead Of It’s TimeEnergy balance is the key to a happier and more fulfilling life. This podcast looks at the energy dynamics within our own bodies using the knowledge of cellular analysis and many studies that have investigated the claims made by the most prominent industries in the world. Sometimes the advice of this show feels like it’s going directly against the recommendations of the modern American health circles, but unlike the advertisers and food industry insiders, Jay and Mike have the explanations, studies, and experience to back their claims. And a big piece of it is learning the mechanisms you need to be able to trust your own body’s wants and needs (and more often than not, its favorite flavors.) This show could be the thing that inspires you to change your life and feel good while you do it. I couldn’t recommend it more
