Lover PAC manlife-changing running podcastAs a student with an exercise science degree who is now perusing their doctoral of Physical Therapy degree, I am always looking to learn more about exercise and the body. I grew up being an athlete but was never able to run more than 2 miles up until 2 years ago. I slowly began to increase my mileage and now have run 2 half marathons. Before my first, I wasn’t sure what I was doing and really just signed up for the race because I had been running so much. I continued to run and once I realized I had been improving and my long runs were feeling easier, I started taking it a little more seriously and came across this podcast. Because of this podcast, I grew tremendously in my confidence in structuring my training weeks, understanding the why behind certain workouts, focusing more on my nutrition and ensuring I was providing my body with the proper fuel, and an endless amount of other ways. All summer, this was the podcast I would go to for my long runs and my two favorite episodes that I listened to on repeat going into my second half marathon were how to prepare for your half marathon and what to do immediately following your half marathon. I truly believe these two episodes transformed my pre race, race, and post race. I PRd by 17 minutes and felt AMAZING right after and the days to follow! Duane Scotti is also very willing to speak with listeners and is a welcoming presence!

mrunsinBKMy favorite running podcastThis podcast has become my favorite running podcast since I learned about it a few months ago. As a mid-life runner who’s had my share of injuries, I find the educational content on injury prevention priceless. The podcast is very accessible to runners of a wide range of experience, whether you’re just starting out with running or a multi-season marathoner. As a public health scientist I also appreciate Dr. Scotti’s approach to bringing in evidence from physical therapy and exercise science, communicated in a way that is easy to understand and balanced with warmth and encouragement for all who want to benefit from running, whether for stress relief, physical health, or performance goals. I love hearing from the different coaches on the Spark Healthy Runner team- they’re all so knowledgeable and fun to listen to. Thanks for providing such a great resource for all runners!

Run BHMWonderful podcast !Duane Scotti is a blessing to the running community. His podcasts are full of helpful advice as well as instruction in how to put the recommendations into practice. What I love most though is his understanding of how important it is for injured runners to have hope that they can and will be able to run again someday. His podcasts always leave me encouraged that even as an older runner, currently struggling with injuries, there will come a day when I am back out on the roads again and enjoying the gift that it is to be able to run!

LizzyDunhamOh so THATS how you base trainI've dealt with shin splints and unknowingly overtraining for my entire active life. After completing an injury-free thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, I was feeling on top of the world. Gave my body a week to recover from the 5.5 month hike, and then hit the road running according to an online pre-designed training plan. I learned hard that walking 20 miles a day on trails in very different for your body than running 3-7 miles on roads a few times a week. After months of fighting persistent shin splints, visiting multiple physical therapists, and taking 3 months off of running, I've FINALLY started making improvements after listening to these lessons on pacing, effort, base training, and self care. 12/10 podcast, incredible resource for anyone suffering from running injuries out there.

575188(=(#$;"Game changerDuane Scotti and the Healthy Runner podcast has quite literally changed my life. I am an adult onset runner as of about 4 years ago. I was always under the impression that running at a high volume meant inevitable injury. When I found that running was the only thing that helped my depression and anxiety, I was willing to trade that for the risk of my body always feeling sub par. Duane and his team have helped me discover the tools necessary to run for the mental health reasons that I need to while also staying injury free. I recommend this podcast to anyone looking to continue running while feeling great. Thank you, Healthy Runner team!
-
Sarah WittFantastic podcast with great practical tips and adviceI recently discovered this podcast after hearing Duane interviewed on another running podcast. dear runningEpisode 179🥇Since becoming very serious about running (about a year ago) and training for my first race, I’ve come across some great podcasts. Yet, episode 179 of the Healthy Runner Podcast has had probably the greatest impact… because of the way Duane shared with incredible transparency his own race experience, which described in great detail a wealth of practical tips for running a great half marathon. “Get into a rhythm and stay relaxed at race pace” was just one shared tip that will carry into my own running, training, and racing. Thank you Dr. Scotti!

gettough1Looking forwardThis podcast is well done and very informative. I look forward to listening to every new show. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work. I am two years into this running experience. I have learned a lot from you. I am a former U.S.Army Drill Sergeant, having trained over 5000 soldiers over ten years. However, (believe it or not) we don’t run a lot. More work on mobility drills and endurance based activities, usually under load. Running now at 58 the challenges are many. Learning to run without getting injured is as high priority as running itself. Last year I completed 25 5k races. This year so far. 4 half marathons, 15k 5 mile and 4 mile race and 2 5k races. Planning on my first marathon in the fall. The Atlantic City marathon.

AngelAnon11Best for running advice for longevityI have been listening to these episodes for a few months now and I can find something of use or take-away from each one I listen to. It’s all relevant and relatable and delivered in a way that jives with me. I find the content helpful, the guests are interesting and the subject are plentiful. It gives me so much hope to staying healthy as a runner and also how to avoid injuries. The advice is world class. The empathy is also very much felt in every word he speaks. I have laughed, cried, got excited, felt motivated and even gone out on a run after en episode was over just because it made me feel like YES I can do this! Best overall podcast for runners I have heard and I have listened to soooo many!
-

lilitaliaSo much helpful, free content on injury preventionGreat podcast for helping keep me injury free! As a newer runner, I found myself pushing my body a little too much too soon because I had quickly fallen in love with the sport and wanted to run further and faster right away! I’m pretty sure this podcast has spared me some injuries that would have certainly happened had I not begun to apply some of the knowledge gained from these episodes. Thank you for producing such quality content and for giving so much of it away for free via this podcast! Keep up the amazing work.

Gigi GracietteA Must for Runners! Finally! A podcast hosted by someone who is not only a runner himself but a certified running coach and a doctor of physical therapy! Perfect trifecta! I started listening to these podcasts and eventually signed up for personalized coaching with Dr. Duane Scotti. Thanks to his great advice and running plan, I was able to finish the New York Marathon this year. His help and guidance was invaluable especially since I was recovering from knee surgery last year. He also has great guests who know their stuff. Highly recommend.

valentinechristineHelping Me Be A Healthy RunnerI’ve been following this podcast for quite a while now and am impressed not only by Coach Duane’s expertise, but also how he delivers it, like a wise and trusted friend. sabrinalynn33One of the greatest running podcasts out there!I grew up a competitive athlete, but unfortunately got very sick four years ago and had to take three years off of running. Coming back to the sport at a 20 year old was intimidating at first, but this podcast has truly helped me make this transition and stay healthy and happy as a runner. I appreciate the emphasis on celebrating every victory, the comprehensive tips for staying healthy, and the positive mindset around running. It’s great for absolutely anyone who likes running and is looking to maintain their health and fitness!

Lindsay RatcliffeHelped Me Get Back On the Run!I found this podcast for a very specific reason: searching for resources to combat runner’s knee. I learned so much from Dr. Scotti and his guests/team about the causes of runner’s knee and — more importantly — how to prevent it in the future. In combination with the SPARK Healthy Runner YouTube channel, this podcast has taught me several strategies to help prevent knee pain. I implemented these strategies and have already noticed improvement. If you love running but have been sidelined by injury, this podcast is a great resource. Dr. Scotti knows his stuff, and he explains it clearly. He’s also a delightfully positive and friendly host!

funky c.Great hostDr. Duane has a nice warm personality, and he knows what he’s talking about. To me it feels like the past few episodes have drifted toward advertisements though. I know he has a business to run (no pun intended) but I’ve found myself less interested in sifting through the ads for the useful information.
-
Arthi RLove this pod!So happy to have found Duane’s podcast! I’ve been dealing with proximal hamstring tendinopathy for a few months and these episodes give me hope!!

$$ Money BagsRekindled my LOVE for RunningUseful, easy to digest information. Helpful topics! I am a novice runner that has dabbled with running here and there, but after listening to this podcast for a week or so, I got super excited that I may be able to stay healthy enough to run a half marathon. Now, I listen to the podcast while I run. 😃 Super excited for my journey and having the podcast in my ear as I train!!
-
oba2805Game ChangerI have been running off and on since high school and finally got serious about it in 2020, well I ended up injured a few times and had surgery (non-running related) that side lined me for about 3 months. I tried getting back into running once I was cleared and faced a lot of issues. The last medical professional I saw told me to stop running and focus solely on strength training to get my PF under control. I was really discouraged until I found this podcast. I now know it’s possible to keep running WHILE strength training to help heal my injury. Dr. Duane Scotti is fantastic as are the other running coaches in the Healthy Runner Facebook group. He and the group are amazing and truly game changers for runners with injuries as well as runners that just want to get better and stay injury free.
