The French GroupEpisode review: Vehicle electrical systems with mark bruceGreat episode. I have done zero wiring, yet, consider me a noob; but this episode was very listenable, and confirms a lot of the best practice about which I’ve been reading. Confirmation bias aside, hearing this info from this expert was reassuring. The explanation of the interplay between the types of charging systems was especially relevant, to wit, the discussion of dc-to-dc charging systems and what to consider was cool. Oh yeah, a little feedback: There was a tiny bit clicking/tapping during some of the interview, i wonder if one of the speakers was like I am, and was tapping the desk while making points. Great podcast episode.

Dan Cole The4x4PodcastExpert show produced by the expertsIt’s no surprise that Matt and Scott put together an awesome show. They have so much experience and a great chemistry together. This is a must listen to get inspired and educated for adventure.

TmoneyDDInsufferableSorry, I love the content and the intent of the show but if elitist Matt is on then it drags the whole show down the tubes.

Cory BurkheadThe Best Vehicle-Based Travel PodcastI’ve been listening to The Overland Journal Podcast for several years now and always look forward to a new episode. What sets this podcast apart is the quality of discussion, breadth of subjects and inclusion of different cultures, viewpoints and people. While the gear and vehicles (whether by truck, vintage Porsche, sailboat, motorcycle or ?) are an important and enjoyable part of discussion, you are always reminded in this podcast to put travel first and fires most. As it should be. The charisma and uniqueness of the hosts, Scott, Matt and Ashley are fantastic and the range of guests are incredible. They all do a great job of interviewing guests without being myopic and making themselves the primary subject of the episode, which is all too common on other podcasts. As a traveler, motorcyclist, boater, outdoorsman and adventurer, I get a lot of value from the discussions and have learned a ton and just flat out enjoy the conversations. Keep up the good work folks!

OutofboundsokieMatt Scott is an overlanding parody, but seriousScott Brady produces fantastic radio. His contributions to exploration and journalism are rivaled only by National Geographic and if you limit the scope to the last 20 years he is the clear winner. Ashley Giordano’s body of work is smaller but her viewpoint and guests are refreshing and I want to hear more. We need more Scott and Ashley episodes. Matt Scott is the insufferable host who riddled North America with those orange plastic Max Tracks you see clamped to instagram. If Maxtrax money makes this podcast cash flow, then fine, but his commendations and complaints about his earthroamer, AEV’s, super duties, Teslas, Ferraris, Gladiators, LJ’s and Land Cruisers fall on deaf ears. He probably has a place on YouTube and Instagram, but not on this medium.

ChefBrian1One of if not the best!Love the podcast, rich content! You definitely need to work on the audio quality though. Latest episode sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom.

2losttocareOverlanding with confidenceListening to the show has taught me everything I needed to know about overlanding safely, so I can enjoy the great outdoors! Keep up the great work everyone!

SLC OverlamdDrop Matt… then it’d be 5 starsThis show is fantastic when Scott Brady or Ashley or some of the other intriguing guests are talking. I understand the need for color commentary on a show, but Matt is atrocious. He interrupts with irrelevant, pretentious and useless comments distracting from the otherwise very informative content.

return-listenerCan be a great podcastExcellent podcast as long as the hosts are right. Scott Brady and Ashley do fantastic and informative interviews. If Matt Scott is on the podcast skip it so you don’t end up quitting listening to it. I did once, but glad it has gone in the right direction since I did, and glad to be back.

UsmcarizonaVirtue signaling Gear CollectorsI canceled my subscription to Overland Journal based on this podcast. I cannot take it anymore. Scott’s sidekick is the WORST ambassador in the Overland Space. If you want to hear all about gear and get lectured by a loud mouthed gear peddler opining about the plebeians In overlanding then this is the podcast for you! Scott and max traxs, do yourselves a favor and ditch him.
-
RoanokeRickGreat!!I love this podcast and look forward to it every week. Lots of great info and interesting stories. All of this praise despite Matt being a pretentious Tacoma hater. Yes, I drive a Tacoma. Rick S

Nadir_EGood information, fun formatThis is a treasure trove of information about vehicle-based travel. It isn’t pure gear-head stuff, which is nice - inspiration to getting out on the trail is as important as any bit of gear you may throw on a truck. Looking forward to more episodes.
-
aherdofmooseGreat podcast, with some bumps in the roadSo for the most part, this a great podcast to listen to, especially the gear focused episodes. It presents a nice mix of practical reviews and experience. However, I have to say that one of the co-hosts sometimes goes a little far with the sarcasm and such. Best example of this is in the full size truck of the year episode with his Texas accent. I don’t think it was done with malicious intent, but it was super cringey to hear him do this mocking accent throughout the episode. I’m not even a native Texan, but that sort of mocking is just hard to listen to, especially from a entity such as the Overland Journal

William Munny of Ill ReputeScott Brady and Guests are GreatScott Brady is a wealth of valuable information and he shares it in a manner on this podcast that is both understandable and unbiased in its appearance. Thank you, Mr. Brady, you have encouraged me to seek adventures that would have otherwise felt overwhelming and you have inspired me to be more mindful of my impact (as an example, my whole family is now using wag bags when it seems appropriate). Unfortunately his co-host often finds ways to interrupt Mr. Brady mid-thought and, recently, the benefits of listening to Mr. Brady have been overshadowed by the ramblings of his co-host so much so that I have unfollowed the podcast. I wish you all the best, Mr. Brady, with this podcast and with Overland Journal, and thank you for your service

Alex MoenckDo you like this stuff? If you like the outdoors and overlanding , then this is a podcast to add while doing those things. Great listen.
-
Chris_the_wrenchDecent guests ANNOYING/EGO hostThe magazine editor/host needs to talk less about himself and let the guest do their thing.
-
DSdbContradictions and judgementsThere is a strange mix of holier than thou attitude and extremely practical advice. Example, 10min talking about minimalism and how thats the way it should be done, then namedropping traveling with an Earthroamer. The whole magazine is built around selling ads for gear, bumpers etc, it’s a little ironic to then put down people who buy the stuff the hosts make money on. Irony aside, I listen! Have an opinion for sure, but stick to it, that gives you more credibility.

Stryder762The gold standard for OverlandingAlthough there are many Overlanding podcasts — many of which I like — this one sets the standard for what genuine Overlanding is. With a focus on international exploration/travel/adventure, the very experienced hosts and their guests are well worth listening to. One of my favorite podcasts overall.
-
DrewBdrewbdooGreat for beginning OverlandersI really appreciate this podcast and it has been really helpful for me to learn basic concepts as a newbie to overlanding. I especially like their principles episodes and would love to listen to more principals topics

Meester ChreestopherExcellent podMatt and Scott provide great practical knowledge from experience in international overland travel. Top notch journalism
-
Hobbs4002Outstanding, knowledgeable contentThere is no better resource for overlanding. There are other off-road sites and content out there but this podcast cuts out the crap. It’s not about the vehicle, it’s about the journey!
-
RLHorstMUCH IMPROVED a Star is born- Not a Podcaster ProBoth podcaster are very knowledgeable and interesting from a content standpoint!! I hate to be critical but one dude must have asthma or some breathing disorder. Or his breath control is lacking and every third inhalation sound is incredibly annoying!!! Sorry but someone needs to listen to the sound he makes!!! He must being eating the microphone!!! Please make some adjustments!!!!! Great job correcting the microphone issue!! The content is still Top Drawer!!!
-
Overland2020Good Content but a bit PretentiousYour information and content is informative, useful, and thought provoking and your experience and expertise is unquestionable however, some of your comments sound elitist and insulting ...If you are a “true overlander” and “impressed by your passport” come across as condescending.
-
bamacountryboyEnjoy the podcastReally enjoy the podcast and all of the info you guys share

Another Former listenerDiscrimnatory Remarks"If you want to piss off a baby boomer buy a Tesla" This ageist remark by one of the host is just as discrimnatory as making a wisecrack based on race, religon or gender. When the public voices of an organization talk like this, I must disassociate with it. Unsubscribed from the podcast, done with Overland Journal and the Expedition Portal Forum. Think about how language affects people!
-
nixon*nowIncredibly informativeLove this new Principles of Overlanding series. Incredibly informative, high production value and well paced. Great for anyone looking for building or improving their foundational knowledge of Overlanding.
-
JFONAVGreat Show, Learn to Use a Microphone!Fantastic content, amazing guests, I love 99% of the show. That one percent missing is one of the hosts WhO sOuNdS LiKe ThIs because he speaks to and away from the microphone too much. It’s a learning experience, I’m sure they’ll get better, I just felt a little constructive criticism is necessary here.

Texas RidgelineWonderful podcastI am a current subscriber to Overland Journal magazine, my wife and I love your content and podcast, keep up the great work, we look forward to your next episodes- all the best!

JonnyW621Awesome podcast!I’ve really enjoyed the first 4 episodes and can’t wait for more to come out. These guys are spreading the word about what overland travel and travel in general are all about. Keep up the strong work!!!
-
CascadiaMetalDesignGreat show, sound is okay...I love the show so far, I’ve listened to 3 out of 4. I’ve been a subscriber for years and a forum member longer than that. The episodes recorded in the sprinter are a little hard to listen to because of the sound cutting in and out of one mic. The episode about the best used rugs, all seems well and the sound is great. All in all, keep up the great work. Cheers, Charles

effzeejay80This is it!Your search for an awesome expedition travel podcast is now over. Like I said, this is it.

Est1980Outstanding!We’re two podcasts deep, and can already tell that this is going to be a game changer in the space. The lineup of guests appear to be the cream of the crop in the industry. Legit adventure travelers and thought leaders. There’s so much noise and nonsense out there right now... this couldn’t have arrived at a better time.
-
SoCalJeffOverlanding podcast for real OverlandersScott Brady is one of the most experienced global adventure traveler and respected Overland expert. The first couple shows have a couple technical glitches but the content is outstanding. This isn’t your typical gear head talk show covering the parts you must have but instead, a show that covers the human experience of global vehicle travel. I look forward to where Scott and Matt take this show.
