    Obsessed
I downloaded rednote in January and I saw someone recommend Empresses in the Palace. I started watching and immediately became obsessed. I found this podcast about half way through Zhen Huan and when I finished that show I decided to follow along with the pod and watch The Story of Ming Lan. Not only am I also obsessed with Ming Lan, I’m obsessed with Chasing Dramas!! I’ve learned soooo much about Chinese history and this podcast has made it much easier for me (an only English speaker 😭) follow along with the story lines of these dramas! Sometimes the subtitles move so fast I fear I’ve missed something lol anyway I foresee myself watching all the dramas y’all have recapped on this podcast. Thank you Karen and Cathy for all your hard work and passion for Chinese dramas and Chinese history and culture :-)

Love it! Super well researched and the music is excellent :)
I have learned so much about Chinese culture since finding this podcast - it has taken my enjoyment of C-dramas to the next level, as I can finally understand a lot of the cultural context I was missing out on before. Thank you both for this addictive and fun podcast! Your work to research and share your findings is so appreciated!!

    I like this…
for the brief summary style but it also comes across as a bit stiff/too news-casterish (just my opinion/not trying to be a hater— just how it sounds as a listener). If you all have time, I’d appreciate the dramas being listed in the summary too. Just a suggestion. Thanks!

    Great info for drama watchers!
Having loved Chinese dramas since I was little (Journey to the West 1986, anyone?), I appreciate how Karen and Cathy pick out the historical references or little cultural references that I would typically just gloss over when watching. I’m learning but also having fun listening to recaps of some of my favorite shows as well! Highly recommend!

    Loud but good
So glad to find such an enthusiastic and informative podcast about cdramas. The podcaster uses a classroom voice as tho projecting to the back of the room when a microphone voice would be easier in the ears. I can’t use earpods with this podcast. Some software to blunt the treble would make this even more enjoyable to listen to.

The podcast is great! It’s nice to be able to hear their opinions on news in the Chinese entertainment industry. (还想说一下。。。杨洋的新剧《我的人间烟火》开播啦!真的超好看,建议你们去看一下!)

    Go-to Podcast for CDramas!
I have been watching CDramas for years but have only recently found this podcast. I wish I knew about it earlier! I love how Cathy and Karen explain the history, cultural references, and stories in a way that a westerner can easily understand. I particularly love the In The Know and Chinese Drama Updates episodes, as finding this info/gossip online for non-Chinese speakers can be difficult. Love the pod ladies, please keep it up!

I found this podcast while searching the drama soundtracks on Spotify. I’m so happy I found this. Please, keep up the good work. It helps understand the background details/info that I missed while watching this drama. I have watch this this 4 times with good and bad subtitles and I still fall in love with it. I just wish it was subbed better. I’m so glad y’all are discussing this drama and sharing y’all opinion on it cuz I don’t have anyone to share my love for this drama ♥️♥️♥️
