pixelatedsoulLow EffortAs someone who has listened to this podcast since the beginning it’s sad to hear it in the state it’s currently in. It’s clear this podcast is an afterthought compared to everything else Gamespot produces. Each episode seems to be thrown together with whomever can be rounded up at the last minute. Also, sometimes the podcast just goes on an unannounced, multiple week break, simply because every one was too busy. I feel like they need to put more effort into this podcast and produce something with more of an identity, with people who are excited to be part of it, or simply let it die.

AirRowdyHipster gamer podcastHipster gamers with zero personality. Seriously, all they do is whine and complain about every little thing. Unless it’s the most indie, hipster, anti-popular in any sort of way, these clowns will just whine about it.

Tron JellyIt’s decentWhy is one guy bragging he canceled Game Pass? Don’t be on a video game podcast then bro. Go do a Rocket Money commercial

Bee-WhoopIts changed a lot…Old episodes were full of news and topics that were discussed without a bias. Now, their episodes are filled with them complaining about games and their hatred of consoles. Episode #239 specifically was nothing but complaining for 25 minutes. If I wanted to hear one sided arguments I’d go to twitter.

ActorGuy123SpoilersI gave this podcast a chance for months but I just can’t take it with the spoilers anymore. They will frequently say “we won’t do any spoilers” in the beginning of an episode only to start spoiling stuff 20 minutes later. After they just spoiled some Alan Wake stuff, I’m out. Unsubscribed.

dingdong1993Stop it Michael HighamIf I have to hear “What it do baby”, “That’s What’s Up”, “Let’s Go”, and my favorite, the cringe inducing baby voice, I’m going to crap my pants. Quit it with all that, it’s honestly nails on a chalkboard and I can’t deal with it. Love the show otherwise.

Fear the Old BloodGo back to the old music pls, + more JessIt’s a good podcast but you guys changed the music recently. Please use the old music because it was iconic and cozy. Also I like Jordan he’s real funny and seems nice so I’m 100% not trying to be mean, but he pretty much always says he hasn’t been gaming and just playing DnD. So not great for a gaming podcast. Jess is a great guest, she always has something interesting to say, have her on more!

Ty339Fantastic PodcastI love tuning in each week to hear this great group of people. The podcast is chill, yet I learn something new each week. Everyone seems very knowledgeable and has a love for video games that really resonates with me. Keep up the great work everybody!

Duty 4.2The ideal chill down games podcastIt smashes mailboxes for you, frames you like a painting, dunks your head in some sugar, and is kind enough to do it in between sleep-tired hangovers. 6/5 Let’s hear an unnecessarily long Gollum spoiler cast

MondoFinActionGreat to listen to when gaming after darkI updated my rating from 4 to 5 stars when Michael Higham started hosting. As long as he remains the host or guest, the 5 star rating will stay. If he suddenly disappears, I will be sad and then lower the rating to 4 stars again.

SuperSilver420Going downhillThe usual crew is great, but it’s been rough lately. Bring back Tam and stop bringing on Michael Higham, that guy is really annoying and makes the episodes unlistenable. I haven’t made it past the intros in the recent episodes because the second he opens his mouth I want to turn into oncoming traffic. So really, that’s deserving of no stars. You guys just get 2 from good will alone.

Clumsy LlamaLove this Podcast!I found about this podcast from listening to Friends Per Second! Which just like this one is a beautifully crafted masterpiece! They both star the lovely Lucy James so you already know it’s going to be amazing before even Starting it! I can’t wait to dive into the older episodes! Thank you for all you these are great!

louqaciousRequired Listening for Myriad ReasonsPodcasts often take a while to find their footing —fumbling through formats, cast members, and searching for a chemistry through shared zeniths and nadirs. GameSpot After Dark is the rare new IP that explodes into the deep gaming industry consciousness with the cohesion, intelligence, diversity, and confidence of a crafted masterpiece of a legendary, fully established and venerated series. Now 130 episodes deep, the eclectic cast rotates but yet always retains the same level of passion, hilarity, and congruence. There is a genuine and obvious support structure between every guest and regular, which is all the more impressive considering how deep the pool of experts GameSpot features. The team understands how to meld industry news and the type of tangential treasure that Nathan Drake would happily shoot hundreds of random soldiers to capture. Every single episode of the current 130 has the relevance, revelry, and headshot-level precision of smart, nuanced critical takes with a healthy smattering of deez nuts jokes. Their commitment to industry transparency is a rare gift—allowing listeners to understand exactly what their dedication to deliverance and deadlines actually requires, and provides an accurate lens into how gaming journalism truly operates. Being able to accomplish all of this is truly the “Dark Souls” of podcasting, in the sense that the risk of starting from scratch with such a beloved bunch rewards us listeners with the tangible feeling of supporting kind, caring, brilliant souls who dare to be the best kind of different in an industry packed with a litany of choices.

Patrick_W.A human podcastI have been listening to gaming podcasts for well over a decade now and this podcast is one of the absolute best ones out there. They cover what’s out and what they’re playing, the news, and answer listener questions. What sets them apart is their passion for their work, their industry, and interests outside of that arena along with the pure joy they have just interacting with one another. This is a HUMAN podcast and I relish the 90 minutes I get to spend with each one of these fine folks each week. 10/10 would highly recommend

J-SmashDrowns out irritable noises. One of my co-workers was being super annoying the other day so I put in my headphones and started listening to Gamespot after Dark and WOW! This podcast works wonders. Not only did it drown out the intolerable voice of my bothersome co-worker, but it filled my ear holes with something much more tolerable to listen to. 10/10 would recommend, Dekker and crew are there for you. P.S. it’s fun fact Friday. Did you know a man named Charles Osborne had the hiccups for 68 years, from 1922-1990? They started after a 300-pound hog fell on top of him while he was getting ready to slaughter it. The hiccups stopped when he was 96, about a year before he died. What a life. P.P.S. I’m not out of characters yet so here’s a bonus fact. Did you know in England, in the 1880's, "Pants" was considered a dirty word? Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. Good game and good day!

Chasemm18Please give us more!Found this podcast via an episode of the GiantBomb and I’ve been listening since Episode 1. I love the format and the dynamics between everyone. I fee the show is at its strongest when we have : Jacob, Lucy, Kallie, and Tamoor or Jean Luc. They have such a great rapport and unique perspectives (and great banter!) I love the way they are able to have some wonderful tangents but find their way back on topic before it gets too out of hand. I know some people on here complain about the non gaming related topics but frankly I REALLY appreciate it because it allows us to get to know these people a little better and gives us some insight that we don’t get from their work at Gamespot (besides this is the point of a podcast!) I love whenever Lucy mentions LOTR or when Jacob gives us a glimpse into what they are up to at Gamespot. On a more constructive note, I don’t think the show is at its best when the above members are missing by half haha (sorry I hate to be that guy) but there was at least one episode when I think most of them were gone and it was hard to get through because it felt like the people filling in glossed over the games they were playing (some I was really excited to hear them go into) and it just felt like sitting in on a conversation I was not invited to and wondering ...should I go? I should go shouldn’t I. To sum it all up! Pros -great team -amazing insights -fantastic banter Cons -never long enough for me -I have to wait a week for the next one -I haven’t been invited on the show! -I have to wait a week for the next one... Great job guys! Thank you for doing this for us!

Cosmicdancer1987It’s getting thereReview as of 12/10/2019 This show is coming along but hasn’t quite found its footing yet in my opinion. There are so many podcasts out there to listen to and for me, this one hasn’t risen to the top yet. The regulars on the show sometimes have chemistry together but that’s hit or miss. They often come across as being quite meek and desperately trying to agree with each other. It’s kind of hard to explain and I don’t want to come across as dunking on them. Podcasts are hard and to have an entertaining one is especially hard. You should listen yourself and see if you vibe with it. I’ll keep listening but probably my least favorite podcast I tune into regularly at the moment. Also, more Jan Ochoa. I like that dude’s style.

BrentgettRefreshingA nice, refreshing gaming podcast that mixes up my usual Giantbomb/beastcast rotation on my long drives to and back home from work.

Regina Philange's bestieSmilin’I don’t usually listen to podcasts but I decided to give this a try on a long drive, and honestly I smiled for most of the drive. Thanks, gamespot fam

AJthreePhenomenalAlways loved gamespot and it’s personalities, glad that they’re getting chance to get their content, perspectives, and personalities out to a wider base! The subjects ranges from thought provoking to just point funny, loving the podcast keep up the great work.

ROBBIE was hereYay Anime!I literally cried when Anime Club was cancelled. It was my first podcast ever and was responsible for me branching out to other podcasts! But nothing beat Kallie, Miranda, Meghan and Alaina talking about good ol Anime! I’m so happy to hear Kallie on a podcast again! Yay Anime -er- Video Games!

Comic EnthusiastToo disorganized, too many tangentsThe show isn't bad, per se, but the hosts interrupt each other with asides (for which the audience doesn't always have context) and they tend to spend quite a bit of time on day-to-day personal experiences (spreadsheets, commutes, etc.) that I at least don't find very interesting. Each episode feels like half an hour or so could be cut, which is to say the podcast has a meandering quality. I do think the hosts offer intelligent commentary on games and other forms of culture, but I wish they would structure the show in a tighter manner. I'll keep listening with the hopes the show improves.

Mindless HulkGreat so far!You guys have done a great job so far! I’ve been enjoying the content. I listen to you and GiantBeast every week 😁. This past podcast on the 13th however, wasn’t so great. The Borderlands 3 coverage was good though; Gearbox did an excellent job with it. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the future episodes.

Johnny00987Intelligent gaming discussionsDefinitely worth your time if you enjoy gaming. This is about the business and art of games discussed in an intelligent way. Video gaming is not just kids playing Fortnight! This crew gives a deep dive into many genres and current affairs of video games.

VosefoldGreat chemistry and even better than expectedTook a gamble on this after hearing promising chemistry from a few of the Gamespot folks on Giant Bombcast and was not disappointed. I never really read or cared for Gamespot (yes, i’m one of those people) but based on the first two episodes of this podcast I’d gladly check my preconceived notions at the door and reinvestigate. The conversations never stray terribly far from games but have the perfect amount of seriousness mixed with irreverence. These are smart and funny people—they are rarely ‘trying’ to be funny and instead they just ‘are’ funny, making it relaxed but also engaging. This lack of pretense combined with obvious chemistry makes it a joy to listen to and I can’t wait to hear more. Keep it up!

AntiZaeThe first episode was great and every one after that will follow. The group that we’re on the first podcast we’re funny and knowledgeable. I love video games and I’m glad there’s another way for me to kill time at work.
