    Lameness issues
Thank you Dr. DeClue for all the great info here! My horse is living proof of the situation you describe with diagnosing lameness in horses. I was first told it was coming from the pole. Then her right stifle, then left from foot. Finally we got a much clearer picture when shown a torn ligament in her front left foot. Left stifle also had fluid on it and right hind has fibrotic myopathy. We are first treating the front ligament tear with PRP and 3 shockwave treatments and later will address the left hind. So far no one has a suggested treatment for her right hind fibrotic myopathy. But they don’t think it should prevent light dressage work if the other issues heal. Audrey, your thoughts most appreciated!

Hope for Mystery Lameness in Horses
I love this podcast and the hope it offers. I appreciate Dr. Declue’s whole horse approach vs. just looking at limb lameness.

Talks down to the audience and fellow veterinarians
As another veterinarian who takes an integrative approach to sports medicine and rehab I was surprised to hear her podcast on lead changes in which was much more than “direct” and came off as cocky. Even if she was a boarded specialist this comes off really big headed and rude but after looking her up she does not hold any additional qualifications and must just think she is knows more than everyone else. Still, the episode was not very informative and seemed as if she was withholding proprietary information which is certainly nothing special from what she was eluding to.

    Insights and Hope
I have learned so much from this podcast and have great respect for the work Audrey does to help our horses and educate the owners. To learn so many of our horses who have been written off and deemed broken are in fact able to heal is inspiring. I wish all vets, trainers, body workers, etc. open up to the possibilities that there are ways to to rehab and treat our equine partners and for us as owners to always keep advocating and asking questions. Thank you for the work that you do and taking time out to bring this information and these incredible stories forward.

    Thank you! Thank you!
I am so happy to have stumbled upon this podcast! I was in tears listening to the first episode. I have fought tooth and nail for my horse’s health the past 8 years. He’s never been normal since the age of 5. Finally diagnosed this year, PPID/IR, with help of wonderful vet who listened to my concerns and observations. Thank you Dr. DeClue for listening to horses and advocating for them. Thank you for educating other professionals and owners. Looking forward to more content!

Incredible Information - Thank You For Sharing Your Expertise!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your expertise and making this wealth of knowledge available to horse owners. I came across this podcast while I was searching for help in figuring out my horse’s body lameness. I know my horse and knew he was having back pain. After working with several vets who focused solely on his limbs, I was super frustrated and started doing my own research. This is how I stumbled across this podcast. The information I learned has helped me be a better advocate for my horse and I realized just how important it is for me to learn as much as I can about body lameness, back issues, and rehabilitation protocols. This podcast was instrumental in me getting my horse on a path to comfort and good health.

    Game changer
The detail shared here is incredible, this podcast is worth its weight in gold. Each episode is jam packed with so much information I have to listen to some multiple times to get everything. The biggest most important thing to me is the validation that our horses don’t lie. That we must advocate for our horses and last that him there are really cool things happening in the equine veterinary field. Thank you Dr. DeClue!

    Professional insight for free
So much of what is done with horses is based in tradition. Then the horse develops pain and becomes unable to work and it could have been prevented. Thank you, Dr. DeClue, for the huge amount of information you share that is actually scientifically based and studied and accessible to a layperson.

Do your horse a favor - LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST
I discovered Dr Audrey DeClue in my research on shivers (following a diagnosis), but she has so much more to offer! Her common sense, no nonsense approach is both refreshing and educational. Do your horse a favor and go back to episode 1 - listen to them all!

    For the Horse First
Strong skill set in a Vet who has gone beyond being just a rider. This is the missing link in Veterinary/ Training junction . Every Vet and Trainer should understand what this Vet has to say . Top shelf advice !

The answers you’ve been looking for
This is the podcast every horse owner, Bodyworker and vet needs to listen to! A vet who truly listens to what horses are telling us and looks into the body, not just the legs to diagnose and treat horses.

Very educational for any horse owner
My vet turned me on to this podcast. It is amazing! My only issue is that I end up with so many questions! Regardless I look at my horses a different way after every podcast that pertains to them. Thank you for educating me to be better for my horses.

    Thank you.
Everyone. EVERY. ONE. Who works with and/or owns horses, NEEDS TO LISTEN TO AND STUDY these podcasts and all of Dr Audrey DeClues research, as well as the literature she recommends and references. I am so thankful to have found this one of a kind Equine Veterinarian. She is truly out to help horses and their people in an honest and open manner. I just cannot express how grateful I am for this information, shared experiences, stories, and perspective(s). 🙏🏻

    Unverifiable
For background, I am a veterinarian. The following applies to the episode on suspensory ligaments: All information provided that could have been of any use was anecdotal and vague. There was no creditable evidence except that which the creator claims she can produce if you donate money. Any references she made to accepted published work were uncontroversial and irrelevant to the treatment. Which, by the way, she never shared. As practitioners of scientific medicine, we are taught to be skeptical of extraordinary claims unless they come in combination with extraordinary evidence. I would love for what the author says about suspensory ligaments to be true, but I don’t see the evidence. Can the author publish case studies of horses she has treated? Can these successful treatments be verified? The publication of case studies should not require significant funding.

    Re-thinking rehab
As a long time owner and rider, I realized I lacked even the basic knowledge of equine health and wellness. If my horse hasn’t been diagnosed, I haven’t been exposed and I’m blessed with easy keepers. I’m so thankful to have found this podcast to begin filling the gap in my knowledge. I was able to see and think of many different issues in a different and more clear way. Finally, the use of biomechanics to explain basic injuries and the impact on the entire system. It just makes more sense than how most people diagnose one joint in a leg and overlook the overwhelmingly lame entire horse. Additionally as a human healthcare worker, it’s brought a new perspective and some relationships into how I practice. The iliopsoas complex is notoriously tricky in people too. In all of PT school and practice, I had never heard the papas being compared to and the same thing as a beef tenderloin, which I have now used with several peers and patients.

    Negative Attitude
This vet has a lot of great information to share but, spends the majority of the episode complaining about other veterinarians and the veterinary industry. There are changes that need to be made in the industry, but this does not feel effective. Rather than stimulating positive conversations for exploring these great ideas, owners and horse people are left with accusatory tone towards any vet that is not this guy. Accusing vets of not doing or not understanding enough creates apprehension. That does not build a healthy relationship and will ultimately be to the detriment of the horse. It’s ok to have standards and be picky about vets but, do not take the negativity from this podcast into the world.

    I share this with EVERYONE!
Thank you so much for this awesome podcast! As a bodyworker and long time rehabber of OTTBs, sports medicine and biomechanics has always been my special nerd out place. I love that you dive into the technical but keep it accessible and un-intimidating for everyone! I often share episodes with my clients and field work students and it’s opened the door for great conversation, better understanding and best of all, improved quality of life for our horses. Thank you a million times!

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This podcast is a Godsend to any owner with a horse who exhibits “phantom” or undiagnosable lameness. If you have been struggling to figure out what is wrong with your horse for years, knowing they’re in pain, even though the vets say they are fine, you NEED to give this podcast a listen. The pyramid Audrey has developed is absolutely amazing and an excellent tool for evaluating all horses that people work with regardless of visible lameness or not. I recommend this podcast to all of my horse friends and associates. This is the type of education we all need in order to further our relationships with our horses.

    Thank you
I’m a Masterson Method certified practitioner and someone that is doing my best to advocate for the horse, especially in the Saddlebred - Morgan world. I enjoy listening to your podcasts and picking up on every detail that relates so much to what I feel and have learned through Masterson. Thanks for being “that vet” by using your intuition when necessary and constantly asking WHY!

    Thank you!!!
Thank you thank you so much!! I just finished listening to your series about back problems and injuries with the back. My horse was diagnosed With kissing spine a couple years ago he’s a Morgan at the time he was an inventor and I was under the impression that his back was just sore and mentors and vets that I looked up to just threw it off and when I moved to college I got a new vet and basically told him I don’t care what you say x-ray my horses back. He did and they found great sex kissing spine and was determined that no other alternative measures would help because of how bad it was except for the surgery. We went ahead and did the surgery and he made a complete 180 turn around he’s a completely different horse now since then and when I was doing my rehab and all that stuff with him I didn’t really have a trainer or anyone to help me so it was all me in my research and what I did and listening to your podcast reassured me that I did the right thing everything that I was doing was right and it just gave me a sense of clarity that I’m doing the right thing for my horse. I would love if you could do a segment on horses with club feet. Previously about six years ago he tore his superficial digital flexor ligament and check ligament in the leg that doesn’t have the club foot. I would love to know what your take on club feet is.

    Thank You
I found this basically by accident but it feels like fate. I’m only a couple of episodes in but the “It’s Not Normal When Your Horse” episode made me beyond happy. That’s something I’ve been really struggling to explain to people lately but I’m usually not taken seriously. It was nice to hear a vet basically tell me I’m not crazy. I’m having a similar feeling now listening to you talk about issues in the back and pelvis getting ignored. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience

    Phenomenal podcasts!
I learn at least 3 things in every single podcast. Audrey DeClue is a genius; I wish we could clone her. Until that happens, we’ll have to settle for her amazing podcasts.

    Common sense and true horsemanship
The podcasts are refreshing in their simplicity. Use your eyes, trust your instincts and you will be rewarded with a happier partner! Dr. DeClue and Dr. Seino are amazing advocates for all Equines.

    Disappointing
I couldn’t even get through the first episode. She just drones on and has all these inaccurate statements like “all horses love being groomed”. I also dislike the anti-intellectual attitude. There’s a reason for using scientific/medical terms instead of nonspecific lay terms.

Changed my life, and my horses lives!!!!
I met Dr Audrey DeClue over 5 yrs ago through a very good friend, and a mutual veterinarian Dr Kathy Senio. They have changed my life and horses lives. I will never look at a horse in the same way again. I have ridden Dressage and trained 6 horses from 3yrs old to FEI , over the last 30 yrs... and thanks to Dr DeClue and Dr Senio, I have been educated and my eyes are wide open to “Body Lameness”. If you want to be a better horseman, and have your horse be the best it can be....listen to all these podcasts with open ears!

Exceptional Podcast...Brilliant!! More Veterinarians need to be more like Dr. DeClue!!!
This podcast series is EXCEPTIONAL!! Especially for those of us in the competition sport horse world! I am a trainer who SO appreciates Dr. DeClue's information and perspective. She is completely accurate and extremely insightful on her observations, how horses "feel" under saddle, how they ride, how their behavior is indicating their problems during competition and HOW to notice these problems myself. Dr. DeClue, your passion, dedication and position for always putting the horse first I admire greatly. It is hard to do this in the competition world of one horse show after another, but after listening to your podcasts I realized that I too need to change my attitude and start putting the horse first above the demands of winning, competition and money!! Dr. DeClue, I need you as MY Veterinarian for my client horses! Would you consider? Why are there not more Veterinarians like Dr. DeClue???

    Functional medicine for horses
This podcast hit me in the heart. We lost our great show mare Lopin Lola at the age of 13 from a broken leg. I think the years and years of injecting and osphos every 6 months to mask the pain in her fusing Hocks , made her bones week. It was never discussed perhaps the pain was coming from something different even though the injections were not really helping. Not to mention it would get much worse with a rider on her back, barely detectable on a longe line. Thank you for the insight!
  • Q-keke
    Love this Podcast!
Dr DeClue has FINALLY done what other vets need to- look at the horse as a whole entity, AND listen to the owner/rider. I love listening to her on this podcast, and her insight on these issues that I myself am also having with my horse. I can not wait for her to come and diagnose/treat my guy- will be the best gift I will ever give him and myself!

    A great podcast!
Dr Audrey is brilliant. She’s treated my horses for many years and I feel fortunate she is able to share her knowledge with others through this podcast series. I trust her expertise and value her opinion. I hope others are getting as much out of this series as I am. Keep recording Audrey- the world needs to hear what you have to say!
