ThunderYawnWooPatiently waiting for the in-depth “Ding Dang” episode.

Rediffusion“Like”This would get 5 stars if the British guy didn’t say ‘like’ in every sentence. Once you notice it’s hard to ignore. Apart from that it’s great.

jevjfdhjBrilliantThe absolute and definitive Beach Boys podcast and historical document

Chris Grizzle Griffin“Off months” take away from “on months”The Beach Boys are my favorite band and I would consider myself a “hardcore” fan. Simply, this IS the best BB podcast out there. The in depth session by session, album by album approach is exactly what I’m looking for as someone who knows the basic details of the bands history. I love those episodes and await each one with great anticipation. Until you realize it’s one of the months without that detailed look. Just around half of the 12 episode year seem to be “off episodes” where the host just talks to a friend. Usually these friends have only a casual interest in the group and give little to no insight. I just can’t sit through those episodes. For example, it is June 1 and it’s been since January that any album history has been discussed. The ramshackle episodes since have been no more than “this is my friend and they heard a beach boys record once.” It’s like I have to sit through the Disney documentary for like 4 months in a row. Is this still the best podcast on my favorite band? Absolutely. However the “off period” episodes take too much away from the 5 star album review episodes.

Sail offPodcast has lost its wayIt’s really sad that this podcast is now a shadow of what it used to be. It was fantastic! I was hooked! The rapport between Wyatt and Jason was great and the discussions were interesting, warm and rather funny on occasion. Not anymore. Instead we now have Will and John who breakdown every track, unreleased song and demo for every album in excruciatingly anoraky detail. So, if you ever wondered who played rhythm guitar on the demo version of an unreleased ditty then fear not; they’ll be sure to tell you. I’m very interested in how they The Beach Boys did what they did but this is neither fun or engaging. I feel like they’ve been talking about Sunflower for centuries. Wyatt simply does a walk on at the start to tell you how busy he is and that’s it. Such a shame.

trix2trixMy favorite vegetable……. I mean podcast. But seriously, I am very obsessed with this podcast. I’ve been hooked since I started a few months back and I binge listen to this show anytime I’m doing chores. Based on things I knew about this show from what I read online, I was very hesitant about the co host changes that happen a few years in, but, honestly, I think I like the new direction better (I’m almost done with the smile sessions). Regardless, there’s not a bad episode here. I’m very excited to stick with this show for years to come.

AlexanderDaGr888Declining QualityNon 5 star reviews keep getting removed. I really liked this podcast and I appreciated having one that’s so in depth, done by people who love the music and have played it live. Wyatt and Jason were wonderful. Will and John are unlistenable.

EL PawleysTurn casual Beach Boys fans into zealotsI’ve been a huge fan of The Beach Boys since HS (late 70’s) thanks to my brother who has an equal if not greater appreciation for the music. I thought I was a subject matter expert but am impressed/amazed and most definitely yearning to learn more from Wyatt and Jason. I’m a few years behind and just got thru the Pet Sounds series, and like the album I’m replaying the podcasts for nuggets I missed first time thru. My sincere thanks for this podcast’s existence because nobody in my peer group gets the same level of awe that I get. These stories are told in such a way as to appreciate the times this music was developed (technology, business aspect, politics) and you feel as though you are in the studio as the music is being created. Each episode is thoughtfully researched and not rushed. If more time is needed to discuss a topic, it’s continued on the next episode. Happy new patron of the show and looking forward to falling down the Good Vibrations rabbit hole that is to come. Stay well and toes on the nose guys! Ed Lenehan PS saw your recent show in Myrtle Beach and 10/10! If anyone wants an awesome music experience look no further than Surfs Up!

FunFunFunderBest Beach Boys vibe ride in the world! In a time… when good timin’ is so needed, the Sail On Beach Boys podcast is so emotionally timely. The sun is so bright, words so well felt and thoughtful, and there is ample laughter, tears and sheer joy in this very noble, loving and hip show. Wyatt is smart, warm and deeply research savvy, and you immediately know you’re with a friend. If you want uplift and hope, the Sail On Podcast and its creator will take you to the shimmering shores of Beach Boy bliss. Hooray!

Myke333Little PodBonus episodes featuring deep cuts like a well curated radio show. Such a great listen. Better than mama’s shortenin’ bread!

Michael PasadenaLove the podcastYour shows through Pet Sounds were wonderful. They got me through a operation recovery as I listened to a segment nearly every day. Wyatt, your repartee with Jason and blending that with the music was both informative and heart warming. I sort of stumbled into your podcast backwards after trying one that, incredibly, was devoid of music. I wasn’t a podcast listener before listening to yours and I now have a dozen on queue. Yours is tops. I grew up with The Beach Boys but I grew to appreciate them much more thanks to you Best regards, Michael Moreau Pasadena, Calif.

spicydigDone???Is it over? Have I somehow lost the feed? Where’d everybody go?

danrey18BB UnitedThis is an incredibly well written and researched podcast, I’m a lifelong BB fanatic and have only had one questionable fact in hours of listening and I live and have had personal experiences w the band and through friends of friends. Soo cool Feel flows!!
-
Mike in SouthtownWhat's the matter, buddy? Ain't you heard of Sail On?I'm the biggest Beach Boys fan I know, and Wyatt teaches me tons of stuff on every episode. His research and passion are amazing. This is my favorite music podcast.
-
JBH57It doesn’t get any better than thisThe best Beach Boys podcast around! Episode after episode, Wyatt does an incredible job pouring his time, energy, and love into this production and it shows. So do yourself a favor and dive in...you won’t regret it!
-
TTW superfanWon...Won...WonderfulWow. So well done. Wyatt has a great delivery. The Pet Sounds and Smile episodes are exceptional. The album reviews are so good I listened to them twice...once on their own and again with the full recordings.
-
alabama human maleSlick! This is a really well edited show. It’s so well done you almost forget that it’s a blatant fanboy podcast.
-
thumbfairyExcellent music podcastI decided to dive deep into The Beach Boys as I’m only slightly familiar with a few of their more popular albums and this podcast hits the spot. I listen to a lot of music podcasts and the boys have an in depth historical knowledge but also critique the tunes in way that’s appealing. The format is great. Keep up he good work and looking forward to hearing these pods about the whole rest of the records and all the associated histories that feed the work. Excellent podcast!
-
ESQ-DBeardWarm, welcoming and informativeI found myself immersed in Wyatt's conversations on what he loves about The Beach Boys and the individual member's output. He brings context and respect to The Beach Boys incredible musical journey. Informative, welcoming and not to be missed. JeniDarlinA must listen for true beach boys fans!I just discovered you guys and am in beach boys heaven. I’ve been a fan since I can remember, thanks to my mom who was the ultimate beach boys fan. Thank you for what you do, all the effort you put into each episode. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the boys but you guys have squashed that thought! Keep sailing on guys!
-
RoxyjasI am obsessedLet me just say I could listen to these guys talk Beach Boys all day long, and I do. I love how they play the tracks they are talking about instead of just assuming the listener knows. Thanks to the internet I have been able to chat and nerd-out about the Beach Boys with other fans; but this is the best thing next to talking with other fans in person about them. The hosts are entertaining, funny, knowledgeable, and more obsessed with The Beach Boys than I am! Thanks guys!

MikeyMmmmmmmKnowledgeable, entertaining, friendlyFor a fan-made, independent podcast about America’s Band, covering the ins and outs, ups and downs, mainstream hits, flops, and rarities, this podcast is a must. It’s not The Only Beach Boys Podcast, but it may be the best as far as substance is concerned. Their knowledge never feels elitist, and they are receptive to all Beach Boys fans’ opinions (God Only Knows how opinionated we are). They receive voicemails from fans, and from those who have worked with the Boys in the studio. Wyatt called me once and he couldn’t have been nicer. It was his warmth that pushed me to support them on Patreon. This is a great entry into the greater Beach Boys Fandom, and a great place to be a regular when you’re totally sold on America’s Band. Sail on.
-
KJListensJust subscribe, you won’t regret itWyatt & Jason know their Beach Boys stuff! I thought I knew it all but have learned so much more and sometimes hear the songs in a new way after listening to their analysis. And they don’t swear or gripe about things here which is pretty awesome.
-
Tex KaliberBeach Boys Geekier Than Me!I don’t know how I missed this podcast when it first came out, but after finding out about it through ESQ (you know who you are) I couldn’t get enough. Wyatt and Jason are a wealth of useful AND useless information. This is the best Beach Boys show I’ve heard. When they reference something, they have audio to demonstrate rather than just assuming you know what they mean. Also, the quality of the overall sound of the podcast is very professional.
-
Hartsdale subscriberJacked up for this Beach Boys podcastI’m not a loud braggart when I say this podcast is great. I’m telling you buddy if you ain’t heard of the Sail On, it’s the number one Beach Boys podcast. Start listening right away!
-
Pop-RockerWyatt and Jason spin The Beach BoysI have been a fan of The Beach Boys since way back in the day and for the past couple of years have been a fan of Wyatt Funderburk’s original pop music and the recordings he produced of Kurt Baker which are all truly great pop productions. Now I get where he gets some of his inspiration from. Keep sailing on Wyatt and Jason.

joy_bellsA Complete and Exhaustive Deep Dive into America’s BandI’ve been a casual Beach Boys fan most of my life. I heard the hits on Mom’s oldies station and on my favorite childhood movies/shows (Flight of the Navigator, Short Circuit 2, Full House), and later discovered the beauty of Pet Sounds. From there I picked up A few things along the way, but it wasn’t until this podcast that my eyes were opened fully to this beautiful, strange and (at times) devastating road. Session by session, song by song, album by album, Wyatt and Jason do the deep dive on all of it. Special episodes on Beach Boys collaborators and the members themselves further fill in the story. It didn’t take long for me to become a fanatic, and they’re just now finishing up Pet Sounds! I can’t wait for what’s to come. Thanks dudes!
-
Tyzee19An amazing podcastWhen i was first into learning about the beach boys about a year ago this podcast really helped to open my eyes. I used to think that most of everything after pet sounds was garbage until learning more about the band thanks to this podcast. I really enjoy how you go in depth into the albums as well as give your own score on how good you think the album is. Keep up the great work!
-
MattTC1028Incredible Beach Boys Podcast!Jason and Wyatt are not only extremely knowledge of all things Beach Boys and Brian Wilson, they are great hosts. Entertaining, funny and insightful. Highly highly recommended.
-
9th floor room 63Only true beach boys podcastThese guys break down the music in great detail, and offer historical context too. Highly recommended!
-
old soul79They keep me excited about the BoysSuch a great podcast! Very very very...did I say very?! Very informative. They know their stuff about the band. I am constantly learning something new. They are musicians as well so they are able to explain in detail for the listener to understand. Give it a listen....it will consume you
-
Androo_22Sail on with upbeat Wyatt and Jason!I have been obsessed with this podcast for almost the entire 2 years it has been going. If you’re an avid Beach Boys disciple, you know that this mythical band has a long, storied history with many characters cast and many highs and lows. Wyatt, with the help of his buddy and oft band mate Jason, takes the time and care to research the beautiful history of the band. The Sail On guys take us album-by-album, and character-by-character in The Beach Boys saga, and it is all that a Beach Boys fan could ask for, and more (trust me!). He is even so generous as to give us a glimpse of what it feels like to approach the music from a musician who has played the music live. The band, Sail On!, who I have also had the pleasure of seeing in Greenville NC, is a breath of fresh air for a Beach Boys follower like me. Check this podcast out now and thank me later.

ScottKennedy28The Definitive Beach boys podcastListening to this podcast is like hanging out with Friends who share your love and obsession with America’s greatest band. I eagerly await episodes, and love the attention to detail that goes into each one. Sail on guys!
-
@dougwburrellIn an Ocean or in a Glass, this Pod is such a GasI was really excited to find this podcast. I love the chronological order detailing the history and albums of the band. These guys are very knowledgeable and one of the things I really dig is their fandom. They’re not making snarky personal comments about any of the members. You can hear their love of the band and the joy they find in the music. It’s a pleasure to listen to. Well done!
-
Roscoe GattFantastic Podcast!!Hi Wyatt and Jason, So glad I found this podcast about my fav group The Beach Boys!! I also enjoy your own music very much!! The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore came out great! The bumper music by Wll C. Is really Cool!! Thx again for doing this, Jimmy Cunningham
-
Jonathon CampbellI Love This Podcast!Wyatt and Jason have an informative and infectious love for The Beach Boys. This podcast shines a light onto areas of the Boys’ catalog that I had previously neglected. They’ve challenged my notions of what is great and worthwhile about this band. They’ve opened my eyes to the treasure that is “The Beach Boys Love You”. An album so sublime, that Beethoven’s 9th Symphony pales in comparison. Heck, This podcast prompted me to track down a copy of Summer in Paradise. Although it took me the better part of three days to wash the stink off my hands, I’m glad I heard it. Even the bad parts of the bands catalog are worth experiencing. Wyatt and Jason are changing lives, one episode at a time. Sail On my brothers!
-
Double_B78One of the bestI love this podcast almost as much as I love The Beach Boys! I’ve started from the the first episode and can’t wait to catch up. Great podcast!
-
Tony HuhnGreat podcast. These guys really do a great job digging into the stories behind the Beach Boy’s music. They can’t do these fast enough for me!

DadragonballzOne of the greatest podcasts EVER!I can not express how much I look forward to each and every new episode of the mighty Sail on Podcast. Complete top notch production and knowledge with two fantastic hosts with my favorite band... a win win win situation! Jason and Wyatt bring it time after time. Keep up the fantastic work guys. A major fan, Shawn Franklin PS: The Stephen Desper alt version of ‘Till I Die is the greatest song ever written!
-
BCH bumThe BEST Beach Boys podcast and possibly the best music exploratory podcast! If you are a big fan of the Beach Boys, you’ve come to the right place. If you aren’t a big fan just YET, you will be after listening. The fact that the hosts, Wyatt and Jason, are working musicians who play these songs regularly, adds a perspective that few can match. Their love and understanding of Brian’s and the Boys’ work is obvious. I knew a lot about the band, but I’ve learned much more. You’re in for a treat! Sincere thanks, W & J! Keep those episodes coming!
-
Denny's DrumsLove The PodcastCan’t ever get enough of The Beach Boys! Your forum and topics are great! Love your reviews, ratings, input, opinions, debates, facts, conjecture, pros, cons, humor, etc... Keep up the great work! P.S. - Saw you in Columbus last night. Thanks for coming to our city! Can’t wait to see you again! You guys rock!
-
Daniel BorghiI’m hooked!!I’m not a podcast guy. Never really tried a podcast from anyone before. Then after I went to a amazing SAIL ON tribute concert last weekend I got curious and tried one and loved it, couldn’t stop playing them till I had heard them all. Learned a lot of cool stuff about The Beach Boys and answered a lot of questions that I never had time to research. Very enjoyable. Thanks so much for doing it and thank you Paul for recommending it.
-
HockeyHavocExcellent Beach Boys PodcastThese guys really do know their stuff, and their love for the music of The Beach Boys is clear. If you’re either a Beach Boys fanatic looking for fellow huge fans, or a casual listener wanting to learn more about the band check these guys out! One of the best music-themed podcasts I’ve heard
-
JMArnett79Fantastic Beach Boys Podcast!!Just wanted to say I binged listened to all the episodes in about 3 days time driving around and I have to say that this is by far the best Beach Boys podcast around! All the episodes have been very insightful and entertaining. Keep up the great work!
-
60SIXXLove it!!!Guys, you have no idea how much I love to vicariously nerd-out with you about The Beach Boys! Thanks so much for this podcast - it’s excellent!
-
iTunes ate my better review :(The Beach Boys podcast you have been dreaming of!Wyatt and Jason know their stuff, and are able to provide balanced, informative, and perhaps best of all, entertaining looks at this band. They deftly switch between their nerdy fan hats and critical musician hats. Perhaps the best compliment of all I can pay is that each episode always inspires me to listen to timeless music of BW and The Beach Boys with fresh ears.
-
wmtsbradEssentialI can't imagine anyone without the last name Wilson being more qualified to talk about The Beach Boys then their greatest modern interpreters The Explorers Club. I love the mix of top notch info and music clips. It takes me forever to finish an episode because I'm constantly pausing to check out a Beach Boys song I haven't heard. Well done guys.
-
coughsodaDream come trueIt’s a real joy to hear a couple intelligent folks discuss the Beach Boys universe in such depth and detail. Bonus: one of the guys’ speaking voice sounds like he might be a Wilson brother. A+
