    Love it
Very smart, satisfyingly verbose, and with perspectives rooted in the right side of history 🍉

    Biden stepping down
What do you want, Trump? He is the most disgusting human being on this planet, so I’m not sure what you want at this point with this podcast. Love the show, but have to disagree this time about what you’re saying in this podcast. It’s easy to be negative with no solutions.

    Michael, Can You Hear Me?
The best film podcast, despite (because?) they actually talk a lot more about Jerry Lewis than Michael Moore. And recently, Aaron Sorkin. Canada’s best boys. Be sure to check out the legendary Star Wars IX review.

    An Excellent Resource
For one to understand the neo-liberal mind, one must understand that it is defined both by their ideology, and the total vacuum of ideology created by its ubiquity. Michael and Us illuminates both these. A podcast exposing the terrifying grimaces of the ghouls of capital and their foot soldiers in the culture war- posters- as well as the great propagandists- Hollywood producers churning out pre-satiric political comedies. But the shadows they shine this podcast pokes- the forgotten C tier cinema of capital- and the cobwebs of lies that captures the good ol’ North American multiplex frequenter- that’s where we learn the most. For there is a tao of liberalism, and there is a void, and the void is a thing in of itself. Here’s hoping Michael Moore finally goes on, and they can get him to watch an anti-thesis.

Will put words to feelings you haven’t been able to
Lost count of how many times I’ve said “thank you!” out loud after Micheal & Us articulates some ambient political feeling I haven’t been quite able to put into words.

    I am a blank canvas
I know NOTHING about politics and I trust these two to educate me on everything I need to know, and you should too!

    More Content
Can’t get enough. Need all convos recorded for the greater good of the pod.

The only podcast I eagerly await each week
The best. Join the boys each week for some fun, banter, politics, film criticism and the end of history (drink). Listening gives you immediate membership to Michael and Us Nation; a nation to which you will gladly pledge your allegiance.

Great Time to be a Mooremon!
Being raised in Mooremonism, that is, The Church of Michael Moore of the Slacker-Day Uprising doesn’t always feel like it reaps the most rewards in the modern day. I was starting to feel like the spirit of prophetic progressive wisdom that brought us core texts like “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Roger and Me” was dying out and getting a little old (69 years old, that is). Lo and behold I’ve been brought back into the fold by two podcasters, their absolute mutual love of cinema, their propensity for naming their apartments (recording studios) after the “dead gods” of early 2000s liberal progressivism, and their mutual admiration of Bob Dylan (pronounced in their natural Canadian tongue: Bawb Dill-awn). The faith lives on!

Movie podcasts - what a concept!
Come for the politics and stay for the movies. Great balance between media, art, and politics. Luke Savage has many great pieces of writing to find outside of this work and Michael and Us is one of Will Sloan’s two best movie podcasts. Both gentlemen make loads of work worth deep dives.

    Good Podcast
My girlfriend showed me a video on TikTok of a guy doing parkour in his yard. Immediately I cried out, “this is from Alexandra Pelosi’s 2023 documentary ‘The Insurrectionist Next Door’!” That’s the power of Michael & Us Nation.

This is the only podcast I like that isn’t about basketball. 5 stars. Love to hang out and watch movies with the boys

    Love From Nashville
Love listening to your podcast! Love the political banter mix, Luke is great with that end, and appreciate lightening it up with Will. Enjoy the US slant obviously, but it’s nice to learn about Canada as well. TN is lit right now, biggest movement since Civil Rights Era (history started here). Watch Justin Jones State Rep 52, he is the real deal, I have known him since he was 22, he is 29 now, if America makes it, he will be running for President one day. Justin Pierson from Memphis is also fantastic, and Gloria Johnson may make headway in her senate bid. Turning the south is happening in Nashville & Ga for sure. Legislative session starts Jan 9, expect non violent provocation from day one. Back to your show absolutely love it and am always excited for a new episode. I need to Patreon for sure. I am a 59 year old far left at Vanderbilt Div School, and love you both. Keep up the great work and can always take a bit more on the political side. Best Kathy,MPA, MTS Wife, Mom, Activist, Cohort, Political local council and state, giving up after Bernie on national stage. Biden doesn’t have a prayer. Supporting a genocide is the final nail, young people are not coming out. Biden will take the rest of the down ballot down with him.

    Dank pod
The dankest lefty movie criticism podcast among several in my feed. These dudes are real incisive and funny about politics and culture alike

    Podcast Main Event
Yeah, I’m still always gobbling these up. Makes any day a better day when there’s a new release. Glad to eat my broccoli with the political stances. Nice to have a touchpoint outside traditional media that isn’t bonkers. Especially keen on the David Lynch episodes and discussions of Guy Maddin. Went on quite a Maddin binge after the episode on My Winnipeg, having previously only seen Saddest Music in the World. I’ve listened to the My Winnipeg episode a few times, by now. Bought a copy of ‘Things’ because of Will. 😒 Still just skipping around it and wincing, so far. Somebody I like made me watch Renfield, and I hated it but had to stay polite. I was so bummed to see it appear on Michael and Us shortly thereafter, but it helped me process the trash of that media, so I guess I’m grateful. You’ll be glad you subscribed. It’s a relationship. You have to work.

    Used to be good
I’m a long time listener to the show but lately the episodes have been leaving me with a funny taste in my mouth, as Luke and Will have reached peak cynicism and snarkiness. It’s gotten hard to listen to a whole episode all the way through.

    My Go-To Political Podcast
Will and Luke are my go-to political podcasters of the last year. Not in only do they re-inforce my own moral values, they also open me up to perspectives I never knew or considered, and that’s something special. Also, even reviewing movies and TV shows always get political, as well as just entertaining to hear two friends like Will and Luke talk with one another, be it about Joe Biden or Alexandra Pelosi. I love these guys.

End of History and all that.
Absolutely fantastic! As a Tom Hanks fan, it’s refreshing to find a podcast humbled by the actor’s full-spectrum dominance of cultural production.

    Michael and Us rules
Michael and Us never disappoints. It’s insightful, humorous, and good-hearted. Will Sloan and Luke Savage are two of the best podcast hosts, always offering fresh observations and thoughtful assessments of politics and movies. They’re both great writers, too. I’m very thankful that they exist.

A reason to get up in the morning during the age of capitalist realism
It’s deeply moving to know that folks like Will and Luke can carry on the tradition laid out by the late Mark Fisher. These two hosts manage to bring an aggressively critical eye (with outstanding comedic wit) to our contemporary culture. My partner and I’s faces light up every time we see a new episode drop! Michael and Us, along with Will’s other podcast The Important Cinema Club, have made me enjoy cinema again. Keep up the work you two. Listeners, drop your wasted sub to the NYtimes and subscribe to the Michael and Us patreon!
  • Mothman8
    True Bravery
Week after week, our boys bravely gaze into the abyss of middling-to-awful politics movies. Will and Luke both have the rare ability to discuss mediocre art in fascinating ways.

    Good Podcast About Movies
Sometimes it’s hard to tell which host is which, but it doesn’t really matter cause they’re both funny.
  • WarioArgento
    Patriotic
True Michael and Us fans listen to the full audio clip at the end of every episode. ESPECIALLY if it’s the “Al Gore lives on my street” song.
  • Tim_Mc
30% politics 70% movies, perfectly done
Not quite Fiore Mastracci and Ed Koch but they will have to do.

    A show about Michaels
They keep asking for a review, so here you go Michael (and us): they told me that Michael Jordan was a faceless god, that Michael Moore was a cheap documentarian, and many other things about famous men named Michael. Cut through the ideology and tune in!

Politics, What A concept! The podcast.
    light and fun movie podcast

It may, in fact, be better than Chapo
Extremely well produced, and the two of them are both really knowledgeable and witty in idiosyncratic ways. Instead of Will Menaker’s “rAHthur”, you get a good old Hamilton “sawree”. Love listening to each episode and get excited whenever it pops up on my feed.
  • Mgawa1982
    Better than Chapo?
Quickly became my new favorite podcast after hearing Will and Sam on the Jacobin podcast (they both write for Jacobin and other things). Always fun, always interesting and informative, I’ve learned so much about Canadian politics, classic auteur filmmakers, and tree 3 stooges.
  • Strung Out
    Phenomenal podcast
This is one of the rare podcasts that I don’t ever get sick of, and that’s saying something. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for that perfect blend of politics and cinema, but needs a break from intersectional feminist-specific pods. I happily signed up to their Patreon—tons of content altogether.

    Thank You
It feels like Will and Luke have become two close friends over the past few years. With so much crap in our culture, there is little content I look forward to more than a new episode of Michael & Us these days - they make me laugh and think and in doing so comfort me at the end of history. It feels like meeting up with two good friends each time I throw on an episode. Keep it up and thanks for all you do!

    do yourself a favor
do yourself a favor on this one and dig into Michael and Us. Useful political takes, enlightening film takes (great mix of high and low—smart takes on popular films but i have also found classics that stick with me like Woman in The Dunes), and likable hosts. “confusing name and photo” is the only criticism I can think of, but even that feels like it’s kind of a secret podcast
  • mansk_mansk
    A movie podcast
This appears to have started as a vehicle for the hosts to skewer various liberal filmmakers of the 90s and 00s. It’s outlived it’s original raison d’etre and it’s now more general film podcast, with occasional returns to its roots, for instance to review the latest in Nancy Pelosi’s daughters oeuvre. You can expect that any popcorn movie made between 1985-2001 will be described as intentionally set at the “end of history”. They cover goofy almost forgotten American movies, and also unreservedly good classic films, docs, horror. You’ll probably find some good ones to add to your watch list, and the hosts are well informed, adding clarifying details and context to the reviews.

    Great Show
    Great show.
  • SeriouslyPlayful
    Good reviews, great analysis
Came for the movie reviews, stayed for the analysis of movie politics. These hosts are entertaining to listen to and very sharp in their political takes. Highly recommended.

    Best of the best
Love this show and the intersection of film analysis, politics, socialist thought, and everything in between. Highly recommend their Patreon too.

    Luke, Will and me
I genuinely consider Luke Savage and Will Sloan to be my friends. Hope we get to meet someday. Subscribe to this podcast, people.
  • gaiabetes
    Really great
Really enjoying this podcast. I found it recently and have been working though the back catalogue in reverse chronological order. It’s funny to hear how the acerbic, monotone delivery of the hosts are completely unchanged by unprecedented historical events. These guys don’t flinch.

A salute from Michael and Us Nation
A much appreciated balance of humor, lefty politics, and banter centered around film criticism which is still accessible and fun for listeners like myself who enjoy the movies but don’t have much time, energy, or are victims of geographic circumstance to be able to watch esoteric films, faux political documentaries, Christian movies, and soulless holiday blockbusters with their friends and comrades.
  • Jawlives
    two shows
some great lefty movie analysis here. Sometimes seems like the hosts genuinely dislike each other which is a rare and welcome dynamic. would be five stars if luke didn’t spend 30% of the episodes reading other people’s material

Alexander Pelosi eat your heart out!
Great listen for the whole family!
  • the Bread Book Liker
    Professional production/ Good Takes
Very few podcasts pitched as “geo friends talking” actuslly feel like it but the structure and auditable camaraderie keep this on the rails and a soild entry into leftist media opinions
  • Dehajk
    Fantastic
I love the Michael and Us boys!

    It’s the best
Don’t have time to watch a ton of movies so I just live vicariously through Will and Luke and love their conversations. Super smart, super binge-able. Best pod
