Camille StorchGreat actionable kitchen tips and seasonal flareI just finished this week’s episode, and maybe it’s Thanksgiving gratitude or I’m just being extra sappy, but I’m so appreciative of the show in general and this week in particular. For me, it’s a perfect balance of actionable tips, personal chit chat (a not-so-poor substitute for the in-person socializing I’m not doing these days), updates about responsible Covid behaviors, seasonal flare, and produce love. I’m having a puttering-around-the-house cozy day, and my only regret is that I’ve already listened to all the old episodes, so I only have a half hour of LM time today. I almost never relisten to old podcasts of any kind, but I’m seriously considering hitting up the LM archive for November shows of years past. Thank you!

Homecooking roxGREAT PODCASTS FOR HAPPY NERDY HOMECOOKSLove this podcast so much. Look forward to it every week. Live in Los Angeles yet everything they yabber about COMPLETELY RELATES TO ME. Thank you for making this!!

Sinnomen Wakefield-JonesA feast for the earsI really love this podcast. It’s one of the reasons I signed up for the Rancho Gordo bean club. Keep up the good work!

desertrose14If you love talking food, you will love this podcastI’m a hard core foodie and I absolutely love this podcast! These two talented ladies have created an informative and delightful listen. I literally cannot wait for the next episode to drop. Thanks Marisa and Joy for being so entertaining and inspiring especially during this harsh COVID time. Please don’t stop and don’t change! 💚

EmmyfromSDI love listening to Marissa and Joy!There’s a lot of podcasts I’m subscribed to, but I look forward to listening to you two the most! Because of you, I think outside of the box for quick, fuss-free, delicious, comforting meals! Because of you I’ve been inspired to make more bean recipes AND order from Rancho Gordo (PS I just recently received my first shipment from the coveted Bean Club!!!!). I’ve always loved legumes, so you can see how I’ve been entertaining myself during the pandemic. I’ve also been making tons of hummus, the other day I made Sheppard’s Pie, healthy grain bowls, etc. Ive dabbled in vegan recipes too thanks to Joy! I know other reviewers say your podcast has gotten political, especially during election season, but guess what? Food is political too! You’re so informative and I’ve learned so much from this podcast. Thank you!
-
Tmcg65Leave politics out!I have stopped watching many shows because I do not enjoy mixing entertainment with politics especially when their opinion is being shoved down my throat I am a proud American and a proud Trump supporter! Perhaps you need to meet a few supporters yourself and have a conversation with them before you pass judgment!
-
mmmmarissa!A joyful 30 minutesLove the banter, love the ideas, love that it is 30 minutes. Always glad to listen. Thank you Joy and Marisa and team.
-
Run jump slideGreat podcast!I have really enjoyed listening to this podcast throughout the pandemic- what a great find. Slow, genuine, authentic conversations about home cooking. They are in fact real human beings with values and beliefs, but that isn’t a problem for me! ❤️
-
saramcwomanlove this podcast!i love getting dinner ideas from local mouthful and hearing the ways they modify food to fit their situations. one of my favorite podcasts i highly recommend!
-
inflyturThe podcast for folks who are interested in putting healthy food on the table. This is one of my favorites. I’ve been listening for years and really like this podcast for it’s down-to-earth approach to home cooking. One host, Joy, is a vegan and the other, Marisa, is a new mother. Both have long histories in writing about food and recipe development. They provide insightful and level-headed discussions about putting food on the table on a daily basis. Every episode gives me new ideas about cooking and being mindful of the impact my food buying has on the environment and economy.

JenD717Beans and cabbage and nuts...oh my!I’m a long time listener of Local Mouthful and it’s my favorite podcast! In fact, it’s the only podcast I absolutely must listen to every week. Joy and Marisa are wonderful! I love the tips & tricks I’ve learned from them over the past few years. Their commitment to home cooking and support of local & ethically sourced products brings me back each week, along with Marisa’s laugh and Joy’s stories of bulk food purchases.
-
kspicehillFantastic! It’s like you’ve been invited into their kitchens! Friendly conversation, expert advice, and cooking inspiration.

CehoffeckerWednesday’s are the best!As a newish listener, I have really loved listening to all things home cooking with Joy and Marisa. They have interesting and new perspectives on food as well as how to be a responsible consumer/citizen. This brings joy to my week and is absolutely worth checking out!

Shelby1731New to Podcast/Loving ItI am about 5 episodes new to Local Mouthful. I really like the mellow vibes, appliance reviews, and just talking about cooking and eating during Covid! I think their discussion to elevate black voices through their podcast and work they are doing in the election is very inspiring. We don’t live in a bubble and neither do these ladies. :)
-
kbennenSo Good!I listen to several foody podcasts, but this one is far and away my favorite! Joy and Marissa really know what they’re talking about when it comes to tasty food and they’ve really helped me up my own game in the kitchen. Keep up the good work!
-

Reggie4246Amazing!!!!!! Keep it up!I love this podcast!!! I discovered it early in the pandemic as a way to disconnect from reality. Cooking is my version of therapy!I have recommended it to my mom and several food loving friends. I look forward every week to a new episode. Thank you guys for being a ray of light in this time! Thanks for being real and sharing not only great food but food for thought as well!!! Keep it up!

CAgaaaaaaaalA quarantine treasure and delightI discovered this podcast during quarantine and it’s been such a wonderful find. Every Wednesday when a new episode pops up, I try to hold off on listening to it, so I can savor it later that evening after work. However, I’m so eager to hear to Marisa and Joy, this doesn’t usually pan out. I find the episodes calming, educational, thoughtful, and inspiring. Marisa, I started canning my backyard fruits after I read your blog and realized how easy it is! It brings me great Joy (pun!). I also go to bed listening to old episodes because, again, it’s so calming. Thank you both for giving us something to look forward to during this long and lonely pandemic.
-
PreserverHalLike chatting with friends!Marisa and Joy are wonderful to listen to. I think of them as my “friends” and I love listening to them chat about what they’re cooking for dinner, what they’re loving, and getting inspired by what they’re cooking for dinner. This podcast doesn’t disappoint! If you love talking to your friends about what you’re cooking, you must listen to this podcast!
-
huffmaster45Newer listenerI just recently started listening to your podcast. I love the content! The discussions are giving me ideas to try recipes I do not normally try. Thank you for such a lovely podcast!

ArlingtonPodcastListenerLove this podcastI started listening to this podcast because I missed Philly, where Marisa and Joy are based, but I keep listening because they constantly come up with topics that appeal to me. I don’t know how they do it so often! If you like to hear about local and national food stories, recipes you are likely to make (vegan and carnivore!), and glimpses into their lives, this is the podcast for you.
-
PattySandKeep on rocking!!I absolutely love your podcast and I stand with you on all of your views! Keep on putting out great content. I look forward to listening to you every Wed while driving to my crazy busy job;) You make my day!

beykeeperTaste of back homeMissing the northeast in Texas and found this podcast during the pandemic. Appreciate the hosts’ perspectives on vegetarian and vegan cooking, local Philly markets and restaurants, and home cooking with fresh produce for family.
-
nutmegstewPractical tips for home cooksGreat food and food news content! I love hearing what Joy and Marisa are cooking at home these days. It’s where I first heard about the bean club and now I’m a member!
-
kiwistwo2Great podcastHave been listening to you both for several years and love that you speak what you believe.I live off the coast of Washington state and find relevance in every single episode .I have felt even more connected since the outbreak of Covid.like friends!I look forward to hearing from you.

RinabinaAlways informative! This podcast is awesome. Marisa and Joy always share great ideas and recipes that can be tailored to any dietary need, and their informative show notes on their website always give great resources on where to find more info. For those not liking a political chat coming up now and then; access to food has always been political. You can’t discuss access to food and resources during a global pandemic without discussing the politics around it because we don’t live in a vacuum. This podcast gives great cookbook recs and lots of fresh ideas when you’re running out of inspiration. Keep up the awesome job ladies!
-
Detox PAGreat foodI enjoy this podcast so much. Have tried a few of the recipes!! Thank you

Kathy S from MichiganLove the conversationJoy and Marissa’s real, casual conversation is like sitting down with my friends who love to cook and eat. Share experiences, nudge one another to try new things, deliver honest reviews of what is good and works and what isn’t so good. They support local, healthful foods and that is a wonderful thing personally and for the greater community.
-
Joanna in TXGood stuffMarissa and Joy are a delight and their podcast is always thoughtful and entertaining. Give it a listen and you won't be disappointed. They're real people with real lives and they share them with their listeners. Yay! Please disregard the negative reviews from the "Shut Up and Sing" crowd—they're so transparent.
-
spinstahA favorite!I’ve been listening for a couple of years, and while it did take a few episodes for me to settle in, ultimately it became one of my favorites. Especially while I can’t really see my friends, it’s nice to have a podcast that’s chatty and feels more like a coffee date than a show. :)
-
kblythe____Authentic, delicious content!I’ve been listening for many years, I can’t even count anymore. Marisa and Joy have a genuine friendship that is evident in the content: it is authentic, meaningful, and always leaves me with new, delicious ideas for cooking. So grateful for this space that is a heartfelt conversation between two friends about what really matters.
-
Kate loves cupcakesA+ Will Listen AgainI love seeing new episodes of this podcast pop up in my feed. It’s like sitting with friends for half an hour each week. I appreciate hearing tidbits from food news, their lives, pandemic survival tips, dinner ideas, how-to segments, and all the rest. What a treat.
-
Wadeswifey631Can’t get enough! This is an incredible podcast, honestly the only one I’ve decided to continuously listen to. These women are so open and I’ve learned so much. I am so thankful I found this pod!
-
LKJimenezMy favorite podcast!Local Mouthful is something I look forward to every week. I’ve been listening to Joy and Marisa since their very first episode and I really enjoy their conversations; it’s like hanging out with your cooking besties. They have given me lots of cooking inspiration over the years, and even inspired me to keep track in a spreadsheet of all the dishes I cook. Even though they are located in Philadelphia and I’m in Texas, they discuss topics broad enough that it’s still relevant to me even though I’m not local. Very informative and I highly recommend this podcast.
-
ag198820Great cooking podcastI’ve been listening since the beginning and have always enjoyed the show. I learn new cooking tips and tricks, enjoy hearing the food news, and listening to their food/beverage journeys and experiments. I’m a registered dietitian so I occasionally lightly cringe at some nutrition ideas (please make sure your babies get enough calcium and vitamin D after you finish breastfeeding, even if cow’s milk isn’t the milk source you choose!), but I think they get it right most of the time. :)
-
AnitaCSFLove these twoHonestly, not a huge fan of podcasts as a genre, but this is a worthy exception. I’m a long-time fan of Marisa’s writing so it’s a joy to hear her talking about wide-ranging subjects.
-
Steve02451DelightfulI love the warmth of the conversation, and the insights about cooking in the real world for real families. The hosts are smart and engaging — I’ll never pass up an opportunity to hear Marisa speak.
-
climbing4theviewLove the Philadelphia connection!I found Local Mouthful while living in Philadelphia last year. My family and I moved away in February of this year and have really missed the city and all of it’s amazing food options. This podcast is so fun to listen to every week because it feels like a little bit of connection to everything that we’re missing. Also, I learn something new and practical from Joy and Marisa in every episode. Lastly, I appreciate the investment of the hosts’ time and resources to stand up for the things that are important to them when making choices for their families surrounding food. It opens my eyes to issues I may not have recognized before and I learn new options for more sustainable lifestyle choices.
-
CatieKart2020Love thisLove this podcast and have gotten so many cooking ideas... they are helping me cook through this pandemic. Joy and Marisa are like two friends guiding you in the kitchen and through meal-planning.
