Slow Style Home

192

You want a home that’s uniquely you. One that reflects your passions, values and lifestyle. And you want to create one on your own, without having to hire a designer, breaking the bank, or hurting the planet. The challenge is that there are too many voices telling you what trend to jump on, what rules you must follow, and what “beautiful” looks like. Plus, you don’t want to scrap everything you own and start all over. It’s hard to know how to wrap your arms around this big, important concept called “home!” On this podcast, you’ll learn from the experts exactly why some rooms work (and others don’t), how to master a mix of styles and preferences when you have a bunch of them jumbled together, and inspiration for being brave and taking the creation of your dream home into your own hands.

Exactly what I was looking for
I'm wanting to enrich my knowledge of interior decorating and have been trying to find podcasts to help me with that, and this is the best one I've found so far! The sound quality alone is a huge plus, but of course the best part is her insight. She presents information in a clear but interesting way. I learn something really valuable every episode.

    Varied Topics in Design
Love that it’s not just one style or one topic.. Such a good mix of varied subjects covered that makes this applicable no matter what your design style.

Style talks have never been so thought-provoking
Zandra and her guests talk a lot about “mastering the mix”, which has been my favorite part of this podcast for the four years I’ve been listening. Slowly and thoughtfully, I’ve transformed my home to a place I love being, and am proud to show to guests. I personally love the episodes that leave me with two things: food for thought, and something to go do. Thanks for all the great content, Zandra, and the non-judgmental way you have helped me find and hone my personal style.

    Love the Style Matters podcast!
I’ve been listening to this podcast for close to 2 years! I’m not sure how I found it but so glad I did! Zandra, the host is absolutely amazing. She is super knowledgeable about decorating. On her website, Little Yellow Couch she has a free guide that helps you figure out your signature style. She has an IG account that I also follow, Slowstylehome. She offers courses which I’ve taken. Her decorating concept resonates with me. She shared that your home should tell your story and she coaches how to use your treasures collectively to create your personal style story. Working with Zandra and listening to this podcast has saved me money! I’ve stopped going to stores to shop for the sake of shopping and have learned to use my collection of home items and current furniture. I’m creating my style story and feeling good about it. I no longer chase the Pinterest home. What a light and lovely feeling that has given me back so much time. Chef’s kiss to Zandra, her website, her courses, and this podcast. Cynthia Gainey

    Inspirational and energizing!
Zandra’s podcast truly changed my life! She inspired me to take stock and make peace with my “temporary” 5-year apartment living and realize that design really does matter. Your home impacts your outlook and your happiness which in turn, truly does impact everything else in your life - family, career, creativity, and your wellbeing. Thank you, Zandra, for your insightful and thoughtful interviews which make art and design approachable and a joy for all!

    Love this podcast!
I call Zandra my design fairy godmother! This podcast is thoughtful, heart-felt and a joy to listen to. I always learn something new or discover a new artist/designer to follow. As someone who loves “slow style” and intentional and sustainable design, this podcast is a super supportive addition to my journey as a designer. Thanks, Zandra!

Architect or Builder with David Supple
Absolutely loved this episode! Practical, helpful and completely engaging! I find Zandra chipper, warm, intelligent and so easy to listen to—I love her interview style. David Supple is engaging and quite inspiring in his approach to design, architecture and sustainable home building.

    My most anticipated podcast
I enjoy Zandra and her guests so much that I look forward to these episodes more than any other single podcast (and I listen to A Lot). Zandra has a flowing conversational style and a great positive approach whether in interviews or solo episodes. She would be such fun to have as a neighbor, even better as a friend!

Great job on talking about race
    I’m glad you spoke out!

    Relatable, useful, enjoyable
My goal is a comfortable & welcoming house that I find visually attractive, and this show helps with that. Naturally I like some episodes more than others, but they are all interesting & relatable. No assumptions that you have lots of time & money. Some give you good ideas that you can act on right away, if so inclined, and others lead you to look at & think about things in different ways.

    Love the soulful home angle!
Great host, guests, and topics. Look forward to every episode.

    Editing & Emails
I’ve listened to a few episodes that haven’t had the do-overs or coughing fits edited out. Podcasters are people, too! Haha. But hopefully as they went on they worked out the kinks. My only real complaint- I signed up for her emails, totally sucked in by the promise of a free design guide, something like “3 Things You Need to Do Before Designing Your House.” Never got it and can’t find it anywhere :(

    Inspiring & Refreshing!
It’s so refreshing to find a podcast on interior decorating that focuses on the artistic, soulful aspects of the process, as opposed to the “rules” and formulas for decorating. Zandra is delightful to listen to. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in interiors, but especially to those with a passion for all things colorful, patterned, vintage, eclectic, & artsy. This girl speaks to my soul! I’ve listened to every episode at least once, and in some cases twice.

    Create a meaningful home
If you care about the meaning behind your home then this podcast is for you. Zandra Zuraw is part observer, part psychologist, generous friend, gifted designer and a generous soul. She has the most inspirational & thought-provoking guests who delve deep into the sacred spaces we call home. Plus the retreats she hosts are equally amazing and creatively inspiring. If you want to have a home that “gives something back to you,” as she likes to say, tune in to the LYC.

    Why?
why the language??? It really made my morning depressing because I kept wincing because you kept using low language... anyway I’ve unsubscribed...

    Stop the laughing
The first episode I listened to is titled 3 Things. I don’t know why women have to over laugh so long and loudly. Have to give a hard pass.

    Enjoyable and educational
I stumbled onto this podcast from Young House Love (my fave). This has a different style wherein it is an interview program. I wasn’t sure I would like it since I don’t know many of the people interviewed but the host is very pleasant and often funny. Her interview with Myquillan Smith was very funny and interesting. I learned so much about rugs on another show but it wasn’t at all boring - quite the opposite. I will continue to tune in and also listen to the prior podcasts.

    Some style info but.......
These two have some good style info and informative guests if you can get over the cackling laughter. This podcast has potential but they need to work on their delivery as not everything and every look is amazing, an adjective that describes very little.

    Highly recommend
If you are interested in exploring home decor from a unique perspective and getting a handle on how your personal values can be utilized to bring forth your best self in your home, this podcast is for you.

A bright spot in a dim world.
After I've listened to my news podcasts for the day which generally provide nothing but depressing information these days, I finish off my work day listening to Style Matters & it reignites my joy. It's thoughtful & joyful. And even though I am at a stage in my life (new mom, new house that has a laundry list of renovations that can't be done because of new baby & oh yea that thing called "money") it's still just fun to listen to because it's not pushy. It's introspective & un-stuffy. Looking forward to your continued success! Thanks for all you do, ladies!

    Hooked
This thoughtful, engaging, accessible interview-based show takes you inside the minds of designers, not just their homes. Depth and meaning mix with fun and realism: the conversations are authentic and revealing; never stuffy. The hosts' friendship provides a warm context for articulate, meaningful dialogue. They're genuine fans of their guests without ever fawning. I'm hooked, and look forward every week for time on their "little yellow couch."
