Political Breakfast from WABE

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning on the Political Breakfast podcast, veteran Atlanta journalist Lisa Rayam, Democratic strategist Tharon Johnson, and Republican strategist Brian Robinson deliver Georgia’s best analysis of local politics with a weekly dose of informed, respectful and lively discussion.

During Georgia’s state legislative session, Political Breakfast presents the pop-up podcast Gold Dome Scramble every Friday morning as host Lisa Rayam talks with reporters Sam Gringlas and Rahul Bali from the WABE newsroom to break things down for our listeners — the issues being considered, and the bills getting sorted through various committees at the Georgia State Capitol.

    Discourse we desperately need
You won’t always agree but it’s a civil discussion. Lisa Rayam is a fantastic moderator. Always prepared with great questions.

Wow what TERRIBLE economic analysis. What a joke. That nasally guy who tried to flex his atrophied fiscal muscle makes me want to unsubscribe. This is a joke. Effect vs. affect

    Worse than expected
I expected this version of this podcast to be biased and facile. It was worse than I thought. Ugh

    Great show!
I’ve been a long-time listener and enjoy the civil (and mostly friendly 😆) discussions that take place between Mr. Robinson and Mr. Johnson. It’s a breath of fresh air to hear two people of opposite parties offer their perspectives without trying to tear each other down. Political Breakfast is a refuge amongst the storm of bitterness and cynicism that plagues today’s politics. I look forward to listening every week and am so excited to hear they’ve added a second episode! Thank you for the show. Keep up the great work!

    BRIAN NEEDS HIS OWN SHOW

    Feels Derivative
Feels like NPR/WABE just tossed their hat into the few political talkshows GA has, like Political Rewind. So they record live and share the results. One would have hoped they'd contribute something new in this area but it is quite like PR—male dominated respondents and facts are not amended after recording. As a result, it is just an opinion podcast, meaning it always dead ends to nowhere but opinion.

    Unlistenable due to Brian Robinson
The podcast is great except for the utter nonsense espoused by Republican shill Brian Robinson. His cowardice, bloviating, and inability for introspection (himself or his failed political party) render this otherwise good podcast unlistenable. Find someone else, please.

    Required Listening
Picked up on this while down in Georgia for the Senate runoffs, and no matter where I’m at I’ll be listening every Friday. No matter your political stripes you’ll come away informed and entertained by the dialogue. Georgia is going to be the center of the political universe dor the next decade, and these folks will help explain why.

Informative, Respectful. My New Favorite Podcast!
This is so good. It's the first source of policical information that isn't toxic. It's all about local Atlanta and Georgia politics, which is what really matters to most people - not the national drama that saturates the news cycles.

    Informative and High Quality Discussion
If you want to be in the know about political happenings in Georgia, this is the Podcast to listen to. Good to hear both sides of the aisle which is very hard to do these days. And specifically, Tharon Johnson, thanks for all your informative, fact-based commentary.
