Quite simply the best new podcast I’ve listened to this year. Edit: the best podcast, period!

This is a wonderful podcast! I am finishing season 4 now, and I’m so thankful for all the people involved in telling this story. These stories need to be heard! Definitely worth a listen!

This podcast leaves a profound impression. I’m awed and humbled by the work done from students at Georgia State University. I was once a student of Georgia State University, and I find myself reflecting on all the lives I interacted with, but never knew. That’s what the show gave me. It offered a chance to see and glimpse the lives of people I never knew. My world is broader, and my horizon further because of it. Amidst the sorrow and suffering, I feel hope. if I were to sum up this podcast, I would say it is a beacon of hope on how the future can be different from the past.

I was born in Albany. Drove through Dawson hundreds of times. The racist South was no mystery to me. My grandfather (German Jew escaped in 1939) settled and thrived in Americus, ga where the court case failed the Brazier family. I was raised to abhor racists. I wished many times during this 4th season that I could ask what they remembered and I nderstois about the Brazier murder. They did read the Albany Herald after 1960. I am not surprised by the racist police. But I am about the brazen evil and brutality in this case. Heartbreaking.

This podcast is amazing. I hate that there are such stories buried out there, but so thankful they are being dug up and presented with so much depth. I moved to Georgia 20 years ago and have always thought the environment was easily 60 years behind other places I have lived. THIS podcast helps me understand some of the whys of this perception. Mr. Klibinoff is a great story teller. I ripped through all four seasons really fast. Now going back to listen again to all of them again because they are THAT good. I’m ready for season 5!!

Thanks for releasing this & putting extreme detail into it. This hits close to home because I’m from middle Ga & my mother was born in ‘62. Didn’t know that hate crimes that gruesome were going on not too far from where my family grew up.

I found myself awestruck by the history revealed in this podcast! I have a much deeper respect and compassion for the Black Americans depicted in this historical truth that dates back to my childhood. I cannot imagine living through the horrors these fellow Americans endured in the past and present day to have come so far in our society that in every way possible held them down! Thank you to all those who endured the inhumane treatment in the past and present day in this county in Georgia and to everyone involved in the hard work of researching, writing and performing this podcast. I have certainly been well informed and deeply touched by this experience!

Deeply disturbing but necessary in these times of rising bigotry and racism.

It is extremely difficult to hear these stories yet so vital we know their existence. There are times when you will cry. I appreciate all the hard work and dedication that goes into bringing light to the truth. All who spoke did an amazing job and I absolutely love your voices!

I’m so proud of the creators and students that makes this podcast possible. It saddens me and makes me sick to my stomach what has happened to innocent Black men, women and children. The podcasts puts me right in the midst of the era of history. I pray for healing for the descendants of such trauma that is embedded in the very DNA of its victims.

This podcast provides us with truth and knowledge which we must seek daily until we die, because “the world doesn’t get any better by itself” to quote a renowned ancestor/journalist Gwen Ifill. This podcast’s purpose also enables us and inspires us ” Do the best we can until we know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” Maya Angelou ( another renowned ancestor)

This is such an important and well done series! Everyone, black or white or a mixture thereof, will learn and be inspired by the heroes in this story. And appalled by the villains.

This is NOT your typical true crime podcast and its no joke. This is hard to listen to sometimes. But I believe it is a MUST! A couple of times it has brought me to tears. Sometimes out of anger, shame, or sadness. Listen.

All 4 seasons and every episode we’re excellent and thoroughly researched. Things have changed regarding race relations but not as much as I would have hoped. It almost seems as if these days we’re going in rewind. Very sad.

I moved to GA in 2001 and immediately took a college class to try and understand the SW GA people and places that were to be my own, my professor at the time was excellent but time, and possibly caution, didn’t leave us enough time to really delve deep into the dirty XX century history the way it would have needed to be addressed—at least for me—to truly wrap my head around and understand the ‘parkway divide’ that I travelled daily. Please, please, please, consider making your podcast a continued recount of the history that made America, hence not just the South, the country of disparities that it still is today: as you so aptly put it, “to understand who we are today, we need to understand who we were”. In times of “history cleansing” such as our current times, voices like yours and your students’ are essential to give a voice to those that are once again being silenced.

Can’t let this much work be done and not listen! Funny thing, I don’t really want to listen! Not because it isn’t well researched and well told! I have no doubt! And so far that gears out to be true! However, I’ve got to let this be the last one! My 63 year old spirit can’t hold any more! The names change…the cities, towns, and counties do…but it’s all the same! It’s the America story of systemic white brutality against a people in no position to defend or protect themselves! Over and over, it is the tale of vicious white folk…collective sociopaths, protected as they unleash their ugliness on others…and are never held accountable! Thank you for telling this families story! This is the history, and the current that they want to erase! That they want to deny, while gaslighting us! How dare we talk about race! I’m even more over it all as I look at these recent generations, running rampant ignorantly and literally hijacking my race, like Trump hijacked the GOP! People my color, but not my kind, who through rap crap and hip slop, have placed black people on the world stage as the most ridiculous caricatures of blackness imaginable!

I first learned of this podcast when my mom sent me the link. I’ve heard this story from my granny, but hearing the parts I wasn’t aware of was eye opening and heartbreaking. This story was well researched and thorough. I encourage any and everyone to give this podcast a listen. I will go back and listen to previous seasons! Well done and thank you!

Well researched stories about the horrible and tragic things that have been done to black people in our lifetimes. During a time when our government is deliberately trying to erase these stories, listening feels like a small act of defiance.

This is a sad but beautifully put together. This podcast bought me to tears on several occasions. What makes it worse is that this is still happening today. I’m so glad that you are doing what you do because many people want to ignore that these things have happened.

Amazing series and to have done this with students is just awe inspiring!! Keep it up and I will continue to listen!

Everyday of your life you are learning it’s time to cast aside the so-called white history and reject the liesssss they tried to force upon BLACK /BROWN / NATIVES AMERICANS….white/Caucasian is not a race of people THEY ARE NOT GODS CHOSEN PEOPLE

In regards to Season 3, the Ahmaud Arbery case, it is brilliant. The guidance through the case and back story is impeccable. A must listen.

Buried Truths took deliberate efforts to provide unbiased facts related to a very sensitive and racially charged case. In doing so, this show allowed listeners to have a front row seat to the actions that lead to the unfortunate death of Ahmaud Arbery.

This is an amazing podcast about our history. It’s unbiased & honest. A great way to learn & remember!

This podcast at least the first season so far is beyond words I’m on the sixth episode and I am mesmerized. Everybody needs to listen!!There were times I was mad and times I had tears of happiness in my eyes. The story told in the first season will make you think if it doesn’t make you realize that everyone should be considered equal you got major problems!! I’m adding to this because I’m listening to the second season episode 7 & listening to the son of the cop that shot AC I had to stop to say how completely stupid he sounds & I am so happy you got this on tape so maybe some of these racists can hear how stupid they sound when they open their mouths!!!!!

Outstanding research and great job in bringing alive the courtroom testimony. You are fulfilling your calling in life. This is a great podcast of America history.

Very interesting and informative, especially the Ahmaud Arbery series. The choice of theme music for the show is haunting and like the series, memorable.

I have just listened to season three of Buried Truths. The quality of this series is excellent. Not only a deep dive into the facts of the case, the story is rounded out with relevant historical details. The material is also presented with the appropriate gravitas required. This is much better than a simple true crime story. I will now go back and listen to seasons 1 and 2.

Thank you for bringing these bits of history to us. Thank you for giving all the victims the voice they deserve. Whether in 2020 or 1948. Thank you for humanizing all the parties involved even if some have really really evil intentions.

We need this podcast. It is critical to engage our empathy & compassion towards one another as neighbors & fellow citizens. Stories stick. Stories change hearts. No matter what you look like on the outside, you can be moved on the inside by the truth that we often do not learn in our classrooms, only get sound bites on our news or get a spun version of the reality. We need this podcast.

The reality of this case bears no resemblance to this fairy tale. Stop advancing the “murderous racists” narrative and fact-check yourselves. Three men’s lives are ruined because of such fantasy reporting. THIS should be a crime.

Impeccably researched, sharp journalism. Impossible not to emerge better educated and inspired to understand, and bridge the gap with, those whom we consider “other”. Thank you Hank Klibanoff and Buried Truths for your groundbreaking and enlightened contribution.

I am a 57yo WHITE woman. Do you know how many times I have 1) been running and then walking to slow my breathing? 2) Walked into a house being built (I have lived in a community where there were, just guessing, 25 houses on our street and 60 or more on the other road) AND TWO since I moved to Ga!?? One next door (at least once a week) and another in an exclusive gated community (once a month or less)!?!?!?! Never had police called, anyone yell, OR shoot at me! Let alone call me derogatory term! I was born and raised in Kentucky until we bought our home here in Georgia. I have absolutely never been so hurt, mad, and FURIOUS as I have been with this case and the idiots who decided to take a life from Ahmad’s precious family! I am so sorry and hurt for his family 😔🙏. Pray for them every day 😔
