    I miss sound only
Micah and Charity turned me on to lots of awesome games, movies and music. their hangs got me through rough spots of isolation during the two year lockdown in nyc. I love hearing their takes and can’t wait to see what’s next from each of em

Great chemistry between two of the most talented people at The Ringer. I love having no idea what the topic will be from week to week, absolutely love this show

    Haters
I started listening to this show when Lovecraft Country came out, because it was refreshing to hear someone discuss why they didn’t like that show when I also did not like it. But since then I feel like they nitpick every single piece of television that comes out to death, and have nothing good to say about anything except the media they watched as teenagers. These guys are haters. If you hated a show and want to listen to people have a similar opinion, pop on over and listen to that episode because without fail these guys hate it too.

    Where I get my Recs
Thanks to Micah & Justin for turning me onto East of West & Control among other comics/games etc. The Cyberpunk episode was particularly great. I listen even when I don’t know the content they’re covering, just love those hater takes.

    Great job
Really starting to settle into its own and becoming a must listen even when I haven’t seen/heard/read about that week’s topic

2 stars because at least they talked about aot. But the actual analysis was so infuriating to listen to. It’s like they watched a different show. Really? You couldn’t focus on anything in season 2 because u were staring at titans faces and armens hair cut. So frustrating. Also, season 2 character development was bad??? I geuss Reiner, bertholt, ymir, erwin, armen, eren, and Zeke aren’t characters. Just baffling.

Enjoyable music, video game, etc criticism
Really enjoying this pod, listening to the Evangelion mini series right now. I'm not as fanatical a gamer or music listener as I used to be, so this show gives me some background about what's currently buzzy. The hosts are funny and insightful and they have good chemistry together. They're having fun. Good stuff.

    Bebop is the greatest
Really enjoyed this episode you guys should do a binge mode for Cowboy Bebop!

    Like, like, like, like
It’s really difficult to listen to hosts when they say ‘like’ every 3rd or 4th word. I’m sure they don’t even realize it but to me it means they don’t take their craft seriously. If they don’t, then why should we listen?

Is this the worst pod that I listen to regularly?
These guys did no preparation and have no agenda and yet EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE the blind squirrel gets a nut and you love to see it. It’s frustrating but they almost get it.

    Tailor made for my interests
Charity being loud wrong about most things makes it even better. 5/5 would listen again

This is Open Mic Night - Bill. Simmons. Was 100%
Bill was right! Y’all did a milli episodes of Evagelion and it sounds like y’all just met each other. Tip: when playing sorry audio from Verzuz makes it sound like y’all just as sorry.

    Millennial Garbage
On Shuffle was completely amateur hour and this re-brand teaser, as well as Chris Ryan’s interview with Micah and Justin on The Watch is full of pretentious drivel and millennial garbage. The more podcasts The Ringer comes out with, the more watered down the content it is. 0/5 stars

    I loved On Shuffle
I have a feeling that the negative reviewers of On Shuffle are the old Bill/Ryen crowd, which, as we know from the Ryen Trump fiasco, is much whiter, Barstooly, and Trump-leaning than the rest of the Ringer audience. Micah is a true critic with sharp, discerning takes on music, sports, pop culture and ANIME and I feel so lucky to hear his takes. One of the main reasons I still subscribe to Ringer podcasts.

    Disappointing and Misleading
I was hopeful this would be a podcast that would help me discover new music and different Genres that I don’t hear in every single medium. However this is just a boring discussion of rap by two WASPY sounding guys probably from Boston. The ringer only has good podcasts when Bill Simmons or Ryen Russilo or involved. No one else on this staff seems to have any talent to broadcast or the ability to create a unique opinion. Will continue to listen to Bill and Ryen.

    This show is excellent
This podcast is excellent. I devour Music podcasts and this is one of my fav. Great talk with smart reporters, great opinions, smart commentary. Especially love the year end episodes. All the bad reviews are just haters. Micah is excellent and The Ringer is excellent.

    Curate My Life
Every episode is a focused meditation on music appreciation. It’s always giving music a chance to breathe without feeling rushed. The smaller parts are covered by the guests and Micah is an amazing curator. Love it!

    Not as advertised
This is such a narrow minded podcast for something called on shuffle, either rebrand as a pop rap podcast or change your content. Additionally there is very little criticism presented by the host, I honestly don’t know how he feels about the music he is discussing. Normally I’m a fan of ringer podcasts but this isn’t doing it
  • BDiddy81
Give it a few more listens...
I’ll give it a few more listens but I’m not sure on the pod. Maybe the host hasn’t gotten a topic he feels passionate about but the host hasn’t come off as interested in any of his topics. Maybe just focus on one topic or this needs to be longer. 🗑
  • music000000
    Disappointing
Ringer podcasts are usually great but this one is awkward and the host isn’t knowledgeable about the music discussed. It feels like a high schooler interviewing music journalists. I’d rather listen to a lively discussion or something that’s actually well-researched.
  • thomasfam92
    Great Podcast!
He covers all kinds of music which has my playlists on fire!
  • JohnnyMuga
    I’ve tried
I’m subscribed and waiting to find an episode that I truly have enjoyed. It hasn’t happened yet. The host is bland. It’s all rap and r&b, which I like, but I also like many other genres. I like the way the Ringer formats the nba heat check where they have different guests that offer different perspectives. This current state is very stale.
  • NateIngram
    Love the pod, one suggestion
Could you put the music recommendations people offer in the podcast description? Would make it way easier to look back and remember what people suggest. Thanks, Micah you’re the best

    Mac Miller Podcast
The podcast episode was good some insightful information, but you guys didn’t mention GOOD AM at all other than playing a brief part of Weekend Ft. Miguel. Just surprising you chose to skip an entire album
  • listening with ears
    oh so millennial
Seems like it'll be a lot of top 40 stuff centered around r&b, hip hop, & pop, maybe peppered with some recommended mixtapes by up & coming blog/cloud rappers. I don't see this branching out too much beyond that, but Micah may surprise us by covering some obscure extreme metal/noise genre (ha! this is totally not going to happen). Anyways, if this sounds like your can o' beans it might be for you, but Micah's taste in music is a bit "basic" for me. I'll probably check back in occasionally, but won't subscribe. Oh, I did enjot the convo about Spotify & banning artists from playlists & what it means to the industry; I'm probably in the minority, but I dig a good industry convo.

    Not very good
This is not a good podcast
  • FluxCrapacitor
Not what it makes itself out to be
This is NOT a music podcast, this is a rap/hip hop-centric podcast, which is fine if it advertised itself as such. I love most of The Ringer’s content, but disappointed that there isn’t a legitimate and broader focused music podcast.

    Great Start
Love the genuine disagreement in the first conversation with Donnie. Let’s get more of that type of discourse in all podcasts (too much agreement or meek disagreement out here). Love that Micah was challenged but didn’t abandon his position. Also- as a guy in my mid 30s I will need the brief intros to these artists- I have not heard a single post Malone song prior to this podcast and that will prolly be true for other future artists you discuss. Also- I’m here for Micah’s vocal fry! Also the dry vs wet vocal breakdown during the Vince Staples convo is a top 10 2018 podcast MOMENT

The show is good...could be great.
I rated 3 stars but is on an upward trajectory. Micah Peters is knowledgeable and opinionated but it seems like he’s still finding his footing and would benefit from loosening up a bit more. I feel like a regular co-host would be great, also. Last thing, I would love to see the show stretch out to a full hour.
  • Edgar Bier
    Host doesn’t offer much
Micah Peters is not particularly funny nor articulate nor expansive, and on top of that he’s a very negative person 80% of the listen. It’s a rap podcast, a bad one at that
  • areview2018
    This could be way better.
Make no mistake this is a rap podcast not a music podcast...which is ok...but they do market it as a music podcast. The best music podcast on the Ringer is The Watch. They talk about rap, rock, and everything else.

    1 Lane
I was excited when this pod first came out but now in a Month’s time there’s been 3 Kanye centric episodes and nearly every episode is just the host mirroring the guests’ thoughts. I’m hoping there’s more variety in topic and genre, but as of now I won’t continue to subscribe.
  • SplashJacobs
Has potential but needs some structure
I’ve been looking for a hip-hop/R&B podcast for awhile now, and I’m a big fan of The Ringer, but this leaves a lot to be desired. Thus far, Micah seems to have dedicated most of his time letting us know (over and over) that he doesn’t like Kanye or Post Malone. Which is fine, he’s entitled to such an opinion, but it makes the tone of the pod seem a bit arrogant. I think the pod would come off much better if he focused more time on music he actually likes (as the title would indicate). More balance between discussing prominent music headlines and highlighting lesser known but still enjoyable music would help.
  • ZEFF15
    Nah
Micah seems to just hate on every artist he talks about. Doesn’t ever dive deep into individual tracks or artists, just tells you if he likes songs. Spoiler, he usually doesn’t. I love the Ringer, but this one is a no from me.
  • Gamer boy humper
    Boring
Micah is very boring and has trouble formulating his own opinions. He holds on to other people's opinions like they're factual which makes the podcast one sided and not thought provoking. When you make an argument it's best to lay out the opposition and argue for your side but all I'm listening to is two guys with no music credentials trash real musicians.
  • JP1614
    Sigh
If you like long, wordy take-pieces about narrative in place of actual talk about music, this is the pod for you
  • Jrman723
    Some pretty weird takes
Normally a fan of all shows on the Ringer, but the first episode was kinda boring, host doesn’t seem to have a mind of his own. Decided to give it another Shot reviewing Kanye, but wasn’t the biggest fan of the person who said that my opinion in music, hip hop specifically, didn’t matter because of my skin color. Done with this series.
  • SFG_Fan
    Micah needs coaching
He agrees with everyone! He rarely gives an opinion and never challenges anyone. Makes for such a boring listen. Dude isn't ready to host a pod.
  • Fattycakes Ackley
    Hip Hop🖕🏿
I’ll start listening when you stop talking about hip hop. This is why I think music podcasts are a bad idea.
  • htookes
    Good stuff
Great and in-depth music podcast! Love your perspective and takes. Micah you are killing it. Love from Chicago!
  • C_Boheme
    The rare Ringer misfire
Does Micah Peters have opinions? Unclear. When he does, are they a dull wash of the worst parts of yuppie youth culture? Crystal clear. I like some of the pieces he writes for the site but he kind of blows it as he host. I’ve enjoyed a few of the discussions with the guests and I’m sure it’ll get better, but like, be better.
  • Faux_Anonymity
    The rare solid music podcast
I love music, hate most music pods. On Shuffle is an exception. Micah is a great host (New Orleans native ♥️) and the topics are are approached from thought provoking perspectives. Glad to see a Ringer pod that features out-of-network guests. The Kanye ep is especially recommended.
  • mattroi
    Great host great show
Only three weeks in to the podcast and already, when I hear about something happening in the music world, I get excited to hear what Micah has to say about it on the next episode
  • 6outof10
    Well produced
Tight and insightful with musical samples that add to the experience without being distracting.
