Can you be more diverse? - I have to skip some of your episodes as it goes deep on ___ music over and over.

    Audio
I think the audio is poor quality. It’s muffled and can’t be turned up beyond a certain point. Needless to say, that’s especially bad for a music show.

    Deep, broad listening
Alt.Latino was the first podcast I subscribed to, 7 or 8 years ago, and I have continued to follow it through its changing co-hosts and variety of conversations. Felix Contreras is a treasure! His music appreciation is deep and broad, so he is always able to add historical context to contemporary trends in Latino music. I have saved a repertoire of shows that are precious to me both in music and theme. Thank you to the many contributors and producers who have built this opus!

This is a really good podcast! This is perfect for anyone who loves music and/or wants to know more about Latino/Hispanic culture. I'm Native Mexican, and I love learning about my culture. I've had to learn about Hispanic and Latino history with podcasts and books, because history often overlooks us. Very good, 5 stars! 🫶🏽🇲🇽 --------------- ¡Este es un podcast muy bueno! what about the Latinos in country?
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! I have been wondering about this same thing. I am sick and tired of being the invisible people who influence so much in this country!!! GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS EPISODE. 🤎

I feel so connected with them 💕
This podcast is one of my favorites lately and I’m obsessed with every single episode. Also, they have a section it’s called El tiny, which is a tiny desk with the Latino version and since then I became a fan of Anna Maria Sayer and Felix Contreras. Every episode I connect a lot with them because I feel we are friends. We’ve been knowing each other since every and I feel I can be having a long talk with them because they acknowledge men on music it’s marvelous. They always feature different artist and invite them to the podcast. I got so excited because I got feature in one episode. One of my favorites episodes it’s gonna be when they interview Becky G.

    Great podcast!
Love the podcast!!! Could you please include all the song titles talked about in ‘Best New Music Round Up’ in the podcast bio? As a non-Spanish speaker, I don’t always catch the title and sadly, miss out on the song

    Bravo!!
Felix and Anna Maria are fantastico! Alt Latino continues to be an audio storytelling at its absolute finest - the Peso Pluma episode was wonderful, moving, and a total masterclass - iconic!!

    Se pasaron!
Extraordinario. Chemistry between both hosts is awesome! Anamaria, like we say in Perú, te pasaste! You rock!

    Kudos for Felix Contreras!
I used to love this show so much! I have great respect for Felix who really knows about Latinex music. AnaMaría Sayre needs to respect her co host and STOP making fun of him. The latest episodes I ended up cringing my teeth. Julieta Venegas, Camilo Luna could have been extraordinary interviews but were “undercooked” because Anamaria thinks she is a great interviewer. Lots to learn! And it’s not appropriate nor funny to make fun of you cohost. See how other journalists do their work. Maybe Maria Hinojosa? Jasmine Gaar? Feliz Contreras? This is NPR!!

    My music connection
This show is essential to me now that tower records is gone. I used to love visiting the store to learn about new music, check staff recommendations, or hear other shoppers talk about artists they like. Alt Latino has introduced me to new artists and sounds that I add to my playlist or reintroduces me to music I’ve forgotten about and reconnect with. So grateful that this show exists.

Silvana Estrada has reinvented life with her music
Since listening to this recent interview, I have been asking people if they know of Silvana Estrada. Since they have all answered no, I get to share my excitement about this lovely, talented young woman whose voice is as focused as a laser and as natural as a butterfly in summer air. M del Rio

    Inspiring interviews ❤️
I just listened to today’s interview with Natalia Lafourcade. AMAZING. She is such an incredible artist, and it’s truly an inspiration to hear about her process. Anamaria summed it up perfectly — she spoke to my soul! Thank you for the work you do at Alt.Latino!!! ❤️❤️❤️

    ¿Qué pasó con la música?
Alt-Latino was my go-to program for learning about new music, artists and genres but where are the songs? Starting in the spring complete songs disappeared, a large variety of genres in each program has been eliminated. The focus on one artist encourages me to skip episodes. The new host is too earnest, trying to be too “hip.” (She also has made inaccurate comments about genres.) Felix, please bring Alt-Latino back to its roots.

    Death by auto tune
Always love the show and as a musician and Latin nut, enjoy hearing new artists. But wow, the amount of auto tune, overly computerized vocals and rehashed grooves in the 2021 list? Sad state for the kids on Latin music. Back to watching the Beatles as 20 year olds making magic in the Get Back documentary!

    Your Spotify Playlist Rocks
I have been listening to your podcast since the beginning when it was on NPR when I lived in Tucson, Az, then moved to Boston and still now that I am in Vermont. You teach me so much about la musica and what I like and who I want to listen to. Thank you for your service! Hugs! Roxane

    Beautiful!
It’s a romance. Ever since I first heard this podcast its brought me peace, and so much happiness. Every single episode is didactic, culturally respectful and so tasteful. Thank you all for your work putting together this masterpiece.

    Racist podcast
Very racist podcast. How ethnocentric and the opposite of inclusive.

    Fantastic Listen
I love this podcast. The perfect balance of great music and the story behind songs and musicians. Felix’s love for the subject comes right through. The show is educational and fun. And the music is just wonderful.

    Profound gratitude!!
The episode dedicated to El Paso and all those who suffered from recent gun violence and hate just brought me to tears, especially hearing, “Amor Eterno.” This show reveals the power of music in our grief and healing. Deeply grateful!!

    Too music focused
Many of the episodes are related to music from Latin America, as a Latina I was disappointed to see the narrow view of this podcast.

    Alt?
I really love listening to Felix but since jasmine left I feel that the alt has gone out of alt Latino. Not sure what to make of it. Felix is so strong on jazz and traditional music! I would prefer that he stick to music and not venture into literature and too much culture. There are other podcasts for that work! Best

    Happiness
This show has introduced me to all my favorite artists lately (Amara La Negra, Kali Uchis), and the commentary makes me happy. Felix Contreras is supportive of the artists and his fellow hosts and all the questions are interesting. This is a delight.

    I miss Jasmine
I have listened to the show a long time and think Felix is clearly very knowledgeable, but lately have been missing the youthful spirit and music selections that Jasmine brought. I think having one or two additional co-hosts from diverse backgrounds could enhance the show. With a lot of jazz featured lately as well as interviews it doesn’t feel as focused on “Latin alternative” music as it did before.
  • Rachiewins
We need a consistent second voice
Ever since Jasmine left, the variety and tone of Alt Latino has really suffered. The connection to women, queer culture, and younger generations is consistently missing unless Felix has a guest host. I am wanting a consistent co-host who can offer these sorely needed perspectives on a weekly basis.
  • LawLu22
    Fantastic! Long time listener
Alt Latino is a pioneer in the podcasting space and a great source of inspiration for up and coming Latinx podcasters. #SupportBrownPodcasts I appreciate how Felix (and formerly Jasmine) has his ear to the ground and finger on the pulse of Latino/a alternative música. I always enjoy the selections and love running into Felix at DMV shows! I look forward to the show's future coverage of the Latin Grammys, LAMC, SXSW, and other music festivals across the country and supporting the show as it grows over the years. Adelante!

  • Tayv3
    Great Content but Terrible Mixing
I love the podcast and have for a long time, but the I think the sound editing isn't very good. The voices are always too low and although the music is slightly higher it's still pretty low volume. I can listen to other NPR podcasts just fine in headphones or the car but Alt.Latino I must have the volume at 100% to hear the interviews and Felix's voice
