    Great podcast for tech history
I have listened to almost all the episodes for this podcast. This has to be the best tech history podcast

    I LOVE THIS PODCAST!
I just finished the entire series and I bawled at the end of the final episode. This podcast has been near and dear to my heart as a technology enthusiast who loves coding, game development and cybersecurity. I’m going to miss it because Saron Yitbarek did such an amazing job as the host. My favorite season by far is season 6, but there’s something special throughout. Red Hat truly created something special here. Until next time, cheers to you Command Line Heroes!

    Where storytelling meets programming
This podcast reminds me of Mr. Ballen’s “strange, dark, and mysterious” stories — but tech edition. It’s a very well done exploration of past tech “horror” situations — and what the protagonists did to identify, understand, contain, and vanquish them. Great stuff!

Great content, woke messaging and weird delivery
Just as I was starting to get over the overly enthusiastic voice of the narrator and enjoy the podcast, they start with the woke liberal ideologies. Why put opinion based messages into otherwise solid educational content? This only divides people further and causes your numbers to go down.

    Great content, annoying host
I so want to listen to every podcast from this show. But the host’s vocal delivery is so exaggerated and affected that it’s unlistenable. This is too bad, because when the host interviews people in a normal conversation, she shows that she does have a more normal way of talking in real life. Unfortunately the scripted parts of the show are delivered in an over-the-top sing-song manner.

    One of my favs
Love this podcast! Make more content like this!

Host’s delivery is better targeted for pre-schoolers
While the treatment of the history of computing gets a fair amount of depth with plenty of voices chiming in on the important waypoints along that fabulous tapestry. the host’s overall narration and delivery ruins the entire experience. She’s too sprightly and too upbeat, making the content feel less like an exposition of the facets of technical subjects and more like advertising—but not just advertising to people in tech, but advertising to children. The host would make a great pre-school teacher! But as a podcast host? Not so much. Could only stomach two episodes before I unsubscribed.

    Narrator ruins it
Really though to listen to. Everything is rise and fall and rise and fall and feels totally read off script without understanding. Vocal fry is unbearable.
  • sunny$&@!?
Was liking it until I got to the woke stuff
I wish podcasts like this one would create unity among all people and not just pander to a certain group for the sake of being woke. Instead, you are contributing to more division and hate.

    Good podcast, horrible host
The stories about the history of computing are great but the host is annoying.

    Unbearable voice of narrator
I want to like this podcast but the vocal fru and baby voice of the narrator is absolutely unbearable. Deleting.

    Good, could be great
The podcast covers a wide and interesting range of topics. Unfortunately, it feels like the narrator is speaking to a child with her intonation and cadence. The heavy use of sound effects is also annoying - it feels like they don’t trust they can keep my attention with the content itself.

    Love this podcast
I absolutely love this podcast. Especially the fact that they are bringing to light inventors who were never recognized for their work.

    Well done
    Wonderfully orienting!

My new favorite tech podcast — thank you!
This valuable and interesting content is presented in such an approachable, consumable, applicable, and fun way. I love Saron’s style of narration — blending stories and interviews — bringing drama and intrigue to these tech tales and concepts! I find the whole show really engaging and impossible to tune out or turn off. I am so grateful for this podcast as a go-to supplement to my tech education! Thanks and keep up the incredible work.

This is an example of great podcasting!
Love the show, never miss an episode. I am an RN building data science skills. I consider this show mandatory to help understand the tech world. Keep up the good work!

    Great content marred by, delivery
The content, is great. But the host’s delivery style, with frequent pauses, is grating and—after a while—makes it difficult, to keep listening. As another reviewer said, it sounds like, she is merely reading, a script. Also, the vocal fray, is quite extreme. Nevertheless, I am glad that, there is a poster podcast covering, these important stories.

    One of my favorites
Saron is the absolute best tech-podcaster out there!!!

    Torn
The host's delivery is irritating and far too affected. I can't shake the feeling while listening that I'm being talked down to. It's as if the podcast is targeted at grade schoolers. I love the subject matter but I'd rather listen to Siri read the transcripts.
  • jodawill
    Good content, annoying narration
The content is always a good brief overview to the subjects. The interviews are great. But the narration style is really difficult to listen to. Every sentence is read to the same dramatic tune. Five stars if she could state things a bit more matter of factly.
  • MilanTrades
    Love the story-telling
Just started listening but I absolutely love the way Saron makes everything so thematic, taking the boredom out of coding history and really makes you feel her passion in the subject as she brings everything to life with dramatic background music, authors and others in the field, been looking for something like this! Keep it up!
  • TommyNorthAL
The best podcast I’ve listened to
Saron talks to a range of people, all tremendously experienced and smart about the topic and very engaging and informative. Upbeat, inspirational, informative: history and current activities, technical and personal. Saron is a truly engaging and expressive host.

It has been for awhile to have the podcasts
    Thanks podcasting show from redhat.

    Easy To Digest
This is a good effort. The narration is a little too gushy to be taken seriously. Mostly accurate if you agree the audience isn't limited to engineers.
  • Cameron Sumpter
    Loving this show!
Such a good show! Really enjoying season 3. Thank you!

    Can’t get enough!
Every episode is very well put together! Very informative packed with useful information! Wish this was on a weekly release cycle!
  • calmzee
You don’t need to be a CS grad to enjoy this
Very well produced. Enticing and spicy. Some great facts I didn’t know. Keep up the great work!
  • LeraAtwater
Terrible delivery of wonderful topics and info
I love the content of this podcast. However, the narrator reads in such a cadence and sing-song tone of voice that it sounds like she's reading a story book to a little child. It's so aggravating I've had to stop listening. It's a shame.
  • T. Roan
    Very Entertaining and Informative
Great podcast about an important subject.
  • Darkokids
    My new favorite podcast
Amazing narrative. Great host and great production
  • Troyky
    Unlistenable
Content = Very Interesting Interviews = Amazing Narrator = Terrible Is the narrator a real person?!? The inflection sounds like text to voice. I only listened to S03 E02 but The overly inflected nasal voice is grating. It’s like someone gave her 3 lines of coke and told her repeatedly to slow down. @Redhat, please re-record this. It’s amateur and just feeds into the perception that Red Hat isn’t a “real” OS.

Pretty good, solid choice for techies
I listened to several episodes (from the beginning) and I really enjoy it. There is facts presented in the pod casts have listened to so far.

Basically a Giant Ad for Red Hat
This show is well done, but it’s basically a giant advertisement for open source software. Nothing wrong with that so long as you know what you’re getting into — this isn’t a journalistic or historical exploration of tech or the dawn of the computer age, it’s propaganda from the open-source software company Red Hat. Disappointingly one-sided. As someone who is interested in this topic the bias on display here was a huge letdown.

    Season 2 starts out amazing!
Loved season 1. So happy this is still moving onwards and upwards. Even my spouse who is a farmer enjoys listening with me. By the way, I love my Basecs stickers that I proudly have on my devices. Any Command Line Heroes stickers in the works? And please make sure you ship your swag to Japan. I will gladly be your 1st, 2nd and 3rd customer.

    Smart, fun, and informative
Love this podcast! Dives into and explains the history of different aspects of computing in a way that’s accessible to the masses. Great host.
  • Thomas Obarowski
    Great material to nerd out!
Very interesting material! The narrator is awesome! Please keep them coming! Edit: please upload into a season. Right now they are being uploaded to “Unknown Season” which has actually caused me to not see new episodes for two months now.
  • Tony the great one
    Great story telling. Love it
Great show. Reminded me of how it all began.
  • ImInOhio
    Very interesting info
This is a well produced and interesting show. I’m not a programmer but being surrounded by software I appreciate this insight into its development.
  • chiddu23
    This show is amazing
Being a software developer this podcast is perfect for me. And I love the way you have constructed and executed all the episodes.

Not a coder and still love the podcast
Love this podcast! Really cool concept
  • cabbagefourtwenty
    Great but
Great 5 starts - 2 for making the software development process change being formed by white men. I prefer race and gender to not be something that sets anyone apart.
  • NormeeB
    Great host narration
I've got to give this 5-stars because the host, Saron Yitbarek, can make the process of watching paint dry sound super interesting. Seriously, she should do voice work or audio book reading. Ok, I guess the podcast is actually interesting as well. Subscribed.

    I love this show
For devs by devs! Long live the command line.
  • dougcueva
    Informative
I’ve learned a lot, and the first episode pieces events together in a nice memorable chunk that can be mentally digested. Can’t wait to see more episodes.
  • Cait-dawg
    Great!
Very informative and easy to listen to
  • BrotherKen74
Even a nontechie can enjoy it
I found the first 2-part episode really interesting—especially the history of the OS “wars.” Fascinating stuff and this podcast is really well done. Looking forward to the next episodes!
